How you can use social media to drive physical footfall

A Bradford bar ran a free-burger promotion on social media with a 4-6 pm deadline and got customers in that day. The presenter shows how to use analytics to track competitors' posts, hashtags, and content calendars to plan your own campaigns.

Today we're with one of Bradford's Greenstreet pioneers crafted and we're looking at how you can use social media to promote their offer to drive people physically down over the threshold. Now, as you can see, these guys are independent bar Kitchen based in Bradford and they use free burgers as a great way to drive people in the door. But why? So what they wanted to do was to launch a brand new menu. And it's sometimes really difficult to show the link between social media and driving actual football, but I think this is a really easy one because in launching a new menu they had to come up with a really fun creative concept. So by only publicizing on social media that from six to four that particular day, so given a really sort of like specific small deadline and small window, they would drive that feat of missing out that, oh my goodness, I must go down there right now. They've given a great headline with giving out free burgers just today. They've only promoted it on social media. And what they've done is they've done a really amazing picture which shows the burger itself, which obviously looks delicious, plus the bar in the background. So you can really kind of get that feel for, you know, come on down only between four and six, you have to come now. So they've kept a really conversational tone. The image itself to me is a bit of a showstopper. So combining all of that, you can see how that would have actually driven people from seeing a post because physically down to grab one of their burgers. And you can see by the response people loved it and people said that they were going to come straight down and enjoy the food. And guess what? Once you have them over your threshold once, then they're much more likely to recommend and to keep coming back. So for me it's about getting creative with your menu, getting creative with your menu launches or just having creative campaigns to try and drive people physically down off the back of a post into your actual restaurant or shop. Now if I was these guys, I want to be looking at what other people were doing in the industry. So is there another independent bar and kitchen locally? Is there maybe somewhere that sells burgers? Something like that. So what I'd want to do is I would be going onto my maybe dashboard and I would be looking at here, which is me. I want to think about who I want as my neatest competitor so that you can change it here. You can type in any burger bar, you can type in any burger chain, any restaurant, anyone at all. And then you can start to compare their best post with your best post. You can look at what their content calendar looks like, you can look at the ranks and comparisons. So, you know, comparing all your social media stats, you see what's working for them, you can see what hashtags they're doing, but it helps you a benchmark what it is you're actually doing, and b helps you maybe get either a bit of inspiration or something like that from a nearest competitor. Now, if you've got any questions whatsoever, please click on the little blue button. We love to help.
