Las Vegas Extreme Budget Burger Battle

In this YouTube episode, hosts Josh and Rachael Fillbrandt compare two wildly different burgers in Las Vegas: a $10 In‑N‑Out Double‑Double combo (burger, fries, and a Coke) and the $150 Slater’s 50/50 Whale Burger (two half‑pound Wagyu patties, lobster tail, truffle cheese, billionaire bacon, gold‑crusted brioche bun, garlic aioli, bacon jam, arugula, and a side of champagne). They discuss preparation details, taste, texture, and visual appeal of each item, noting the In‑N‑Out burger’s thin patties, strong onion‑cheese flavor, and crisped fries, while praising the Whale Burger’s massive size, juicy Wagyu, succulent lobster, and standout bacon, but criticizing the gold bun’s structural weakness. Side dishes such as Southern pimento‑cheese fries are highlighted. The hosts weigh value versus indulgence, share personal preferences, and conclude with future plans to revisit Slater’s 50/50 (including the 24‑karat burger) and possibly produce a dedicated review. The video ends with typical YouTube calls‑to‑action and social‑media links.

Hey everybody, I'm Josh.
And I'm Rachael.
And we are about to have one of the most expensive burgers in all of Las Vegas. But first, we're gonna have one of the cheapest.
Let's go!
All right, we decided to splurge.
Yes, yes, splurge it is.
So Double Double.
Double Double, cheese, lettuce, tomato. Onion, and then I believe this is the In-N-Out fry sauce or In-N-Out sauce. This is a combo, $10, so really reasonably priced.
And people may not believe it, but our first time eating In-N-Out Burger was actually about 8 months ago, and we got told that we did it wrong. And one of it was because we took it back to our room to eat it.
Yeah.
And the other was because we didn't get the fries Well done. Well done.
So we listened to you, our commenters and viewers.
Yes. Are the fries better?
They are crispier, yes. So I can already say from my memory, these taste much better. The burger, warm, very thin patties. The standout on here is the onion.
We didn't do anything crazy or special.
Nope. I just, when she asked if we wanted onion, I said sure. I mean, it's a typical fast food cheeseburger.
Double double, which a value meal for ten dollars.
The bun is nice and soft, but again, it's when you're ordering a fast food cheeseburger. This is what you should expect.
Okay. Is there mustard on that?
Not that I'm aware of.
I didn't taste it. Oh, is that cheese? Cheese.
Okay, good.
I was like, I don't want to try that. We are sharing because we're reasonable adults.
I mean, it's a very good fast food cheeseburger.
I actually love the onion that way.
Yeah.
We did animal style the last time, or I think we did one with animal style, one not, and it was so messy. It was. And I think that was part of our problem. We didn't eat it fresh.
Yep.
I mean, we ate it like 10 minutes after we walked out the door, but like, it's much better fresh. And now I have heard that In-N-Out Burger does not allow for DoorDash or Grubhub or whatever because they don't allow delivery, and I think it's It's appropriate that way.
Yeah, but the patties aren't very thick, are they?
No, patties— like, the burger is almost an afterthought.
Yes.
I'm noticing more cheese and onion flavor than I am burger.
Yep, agreed.
That time I got a decent bite of the lettuce, which I do remember us thinking that the vegetables were actually one of the highlights the last time.
Yeah, very fresh.
It's good. It's $10 for a full meal. For one person.
Yeah, I don't think you would share this on a normal basis.
Uh-uh. I don't know, these are weird fries to me. It's like—
I still think they're better than the floppy soggy ones we had last time.
I think these are better. Like, those were just cold, and like, I did it animal style without well done.
Yeah.
And so it was just like a soggy fry with cold sauce.
Yeah, I think these ones have a better crisp. I still don't know that they'd be my favorite fast food french fry.
I don't think so, but for $10, for $10, it's not a bad deal.
And $10 does as well include the Coke.
Tastes good, carbonated. Is there a medium well In-N-Out Burger fries? Because these just seem like too far gone that there's like zero moisture, and so it's almost like Styrofoam, but not. It tastes like a fry.
They're now getting to the near fact of the shoestring potatoes in the can. Growing up.
Yeah.
But they're not thin enough or crispy enough to be that. But if you put them all together in one bundle—
Yeah, it just— it doesn't eat like a fry anymore. So let us know.
Maybe we're just doing it wrong.
Maybe we are. In-N-Out people, let us know. Should we have done something other than well done?
I swear they said to get them well done.
I thought so too. If you're enjoying this video and looking for more Las Vegas restaurant reviews, Be sure to hit that subscribe button. We have almost 200 restaurant reviews in Las Vegas alone. All right, and now the big expensive one. I'm for the expensive one. Slater's 50/50. All right, normally I would go ahead and look through this menu.
We're here for one thing.
Yeah, the Whale Burger. Apparently it was on Netflix. All right, so we did just order the Whale Burger, and the good news, the waitress didn't seem freaked out that we're only getting one.
Right.
But it is a 2 half-pound Wagyu beef patties, truffle cheese, billionaire bacon, 2 slices on the inside, 1 slice on the top, gold-crusted brioche bun.
There's bacon jam, a garlic aioli, garlic aioli, and it's also served with your choice of side dishes, right? Which— and they double.
So I'm pretty sure we're not the only people sharing this because also that's a full pound of beef and a lobster tail.
Yeah.
And now it's going to be double fries. We're doing Pimento. I am excited for this.
Me too.
Oh, and of course it also comes with champagne. Why wouldn't it?
Why not?
What was that question you just asked me?
Is this the stuff that makes me break out?
It is not. But you can see.
So it's not a full-size one, thankfully, because we don't need a full bottle of champagne.
But yeah, champagne is here. Just waiting on that burger.
Oh, Josh also missed the arugula that's on there for color.
Yes, I'm glad that there's arugula on there. All right, I'm a little bit nervous.
You should be.
Look at the size of this thing. This is legit. Yeah, as big as my freaking head. Oh my God. Okay. So they got some bacon wrapped around this. Oh, it's sticky.
She said it's like a sweet and savory bacon.
Yeah, which they are known for their bacon. Yeah, that bacon is awesome. I'm gonna give you a piece to eat while you're working over there. Oh wow, it's amazing bacon.
That's really good.
All right, already happy with that. But we didn't come just for bacon.
No, and I've already snuck a couple french fries too. They're very delicious.
All right, you do get a nice That'll be my souvenir. You can see there's a gold, a gold bun.
I don't think the picture's gonna do that gold bun justice.
No, probably not. Tempura-battered lobster, 2 half-pound patties of wagyu beef.
Arugula for color.
Arugula for color. I think 2 slices of truffle cheese.
Yep.
Did she say Italian?
I think she said Italian for I think it was Italian truffle cheese.
All right, I gotta cut this sucker.
Yeah, thank goodness we're sharing this.
There is like a garlic aioli that I can see dripping off of the lobster.
And a bacon jam that just came out this side.
Yes, bacon jam. Oh my God.
This is gonna— this is— there's no way you can eat this normal.
I don't think you should.
I agree.
Let's see how this comes apart.
Oh my God.
Take a look at this. Now that's a burger.
That's a burger.
I think I'm gonna have to go for this one because it's starting to fall apart.
Okay. You're gonna try to do it all in one bite?
Do you think that I could?
I think you should give it a try.
Yeah. All right, here we go. Can I do it pretty for the camera, you think?
No, I don't think that's possible.
There's no pretty, pretty way to do this?
There's no pretty in this doing.
Okay, here we go.
He did it! He did it, ladies and gentlemen!
Oh my God!
But did you get everything in that bite?
I don't know if I got lobster.
I don't think you got lobster either.
It's so big. I do really like it. There's a lot of juice to it. The bacon is amazing. The bacon is great. I would come back for bacon alone.
Yeah.
The beef is delicious. Delicious.
Not only are they known for bacon, on their sign it says bacon burgers beer, and they have a lot of craft beers.
I can see coming back here, but probably not doing this.
Correct. Now he's got— I think you just got burger up your nose. Yep, it looks messy. Do you think the bun is going to hold up for the whole sandwich?
I don't think I can safely set this down. Yeah, you are dripping I think it's freaking awesome.
Oh good, I'm so ready.
But yeah, it's a little messy, it's a little hard to eat. Yeah, but if you want some overindulgence in Las Vegas, this seems like a place to come to, and it's good. All right, so Rachael is refusing to eat this on camera.
I make enough of a mess on myself anyhow. I have dripped on every single shirt this weekend. I don't need to add one.
I think it's true. So instead she's going to show fries.
Yeah, and we did the Southern Pimento Cheese Fries.
It is an upgrade.
Yeah, upgrade. The base of the fries is like regular frozen french fries. They're really good. I've already tried a couple. I've snuck them in. It's the toppings that I'm excited for.
Yeah, looks like some pimento cheese and some bacon bits.
What's not to like about pimento cheese and bacon bits? Like That seems delicious.
There we go. But really, we're here for the burger, right? And, uh, yeah, the lobster fell off while we were doing that, so we're gonna get down on this and then share some more thoughts.
I may have to take that arugula off mine. Maybe that'll help to make the bite easier.
Yeah, it'll make it smaller, I swear. All right, I talked her into one bite.
Yeah.
Actually, she already took one bite, so this is more. It's huge.
They're huge. Initial thoughts: the lobster is well cooked, nice fry on it. That beef is so, so tender and meaty. I did take off about half of my arugula, but I'll tell you, it even stands out on the burger is this bacon.
Yeah, the bacon. I think the bacon is probably the best part of it.
Yeah, I would tell you though, the worst thing is, is the bun does not hold up.
Oh yeah, the bottom bun is basically gone.
Yeah, I'm eating— I should be just holding a hamburger in my hands. The patty.
Uh, you're, you're only 2 bites away from getting there.
Yeah, exactly.
All right, we're back at our hotel. Look at this weird couch.
Yeah, it's funky.
All right, well, that was an experience.
It was. And I have an unpopular opinion. I've been thinking about it for a little bit.
You would do the $150 burger again?
Yeah, before, before going back to In-N-Out.
Yeah, I think we're just not In-N-Out people.
Yeah, and it's okay to have different opinions.
That's true.
People don't need to all like the same thing. Thank goodness, because—
yeah, but no, I don't need to ever go back to In-N-Out. No. And, and the nice thing is it was a full meal for 2 people.
It was.
And drinks.
Yeah.
So I loved it. Now what I would actually do is I would go back to Slater's 50/50. I would get the 24-karat burger, which actually is just 1 patty, so it's half a pound.
Yep.
No lobster tail, even though the lobster tail was good. Um, what else? You do get the bacon.
Yeah, the Billionaire's Bacon is exclusive to the Whale Burger and the 24-Karat Burger, so you gotta get one of those burgers.
Right, but it's like $28.
Yeah, and now I may not order the $150 burger again, but what that $150 burger did for me was make me want to go back there.
I do.
The burger was that good. Their draft beer selection And then they make crazy milkshakes. We didn't even have room for dessert, but my goodness.
We might just have to do a full-on Slater's 50/50 review in the future because I loved it.
I think so too. I was really impressed.
Yeah.
And the service there was impeccable.
