In this upbeat travel‑food vlog, hosts Josh and Rachael Fillbrandt guide viewers through their top five culinary experiences in New Orleans. They begin on Royal Street at Café Beignet, praising the airy, hot beignets dusted with generous powdered sugar and recommending it over the denser Café du Monde. Next they visit Willie Mae’s Scotch House, where they sample famously moist, thin‑crusted fried chicken with a subtle spice kick, describing it as the best they’ve ever had. The duo then heads to a classic po’boy spot, ordering a surf‑and‑turf po’boy (shrimp, beef, lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, and gravy) and highlighting the crispy bread, tender meat, and balanced gravy. Their fourth stop is Drago’s, the birthplace of char‑grilled oysters, which they describe as butter‑rich, garlicky, and topped with Parmesan and breadcrumbs. Finally they try a traditional Mardi Gras king cake, noting its cinnamon‑roll texture, almond‑strawberry filling, colorful sprinkles, and generous portion size. Throughout, they share price points, sensory details, and enthusiastic recommendations, ending with a call‑to‑action for likes, comments, and social‑media follows.

Hey everybody, come along with us while we show you the top 5 things you must try while you're in New Orleans.
That's right, let's go!
Here we go! All right, our first stop for the trip is gonna be over here at Café Beignet. We are on Royal Street, which is one block off of Bourbon Street.
Ooh, all right, all right, all right, all right.
First food in New Orleans, Café Beignet.
Oh, look at all that powdered sugar.
You can see there's a ton of air in the middle, which makes it awesome. Straight out of the, straight out Right out of the fryer, very hot. The powdered sugar is definitely a need because there is— it's not sweet, the dough. And so that's the thing that I have heard about this versus donuts. The dough is not sweet, and you can definitely tell. And so that's why this thick layer of powdered sugar is on there. It is oh so good though.
All right, beignet. Oh my, it's hot, hot, but I'm gonna bite right in. Just what I remember. I'm with Josh. That powdered sugar is perfect. All right, Josh, what'd you think?
That was delicious. That was my first beignet in New Orleans, and it was amazing.
They're so delicious.
Yeah, it's super airy, light, fluffy, hot, and that powdered sugar just gives such a good sweetness.
Come get in a picture. Happy ugly when you're smiling. Keep on smiling. The whole world smiles with you.
Okay, we're here in Canada. Café du Monde.
30-minute wait. The price was how much here?
$10.25 cash only. But we did get smalls instead of large coffees.
And it was $14.50 over at Café Beignet. So you can see.
Loaded with powdered sugar.
Yeah, there's just—
Are they hot? I'm just nervous because they were not freshly made.
They do not look as fresh as Café Beignet.
Look at that.
It's good.
Dense.
That's what I was gonna say, it's definitely more dense than the ones we had this morning at Café Beignet. Agreed.
Yeah, it's tasty, but I would say go to Café Beignet.
Agreed, don't wait in line.
All right, one place we always hear about whenever we look at New Orleans footage is Willie May's Scotch House. It's supposed to have some of the best fried chicken. We're gonna go eat.
We're here for fried chicken.
Fried chicken looks delicious.
I'm gonna sneak in for this bite.
It looks very crispy. Are you okay if I go for the thigh?
Yeah.
Oh, okay, I won't.
No, you go for the thigh.
Chicken wing it is.
We can split the chicken wing easier though, so you go for the thigh.
All right.
Hey guys.
So this is what everybody's here for.
Oh man. Oh, there's a spice on that. It's delicious, but the chicken is so moist.
Holy crap, it is. Yeah, literally like the moistest fried chicken I've ever had. And there is a spice. Um, it's not overly salty. It does have just a bit of kick of heat though that I was not expecting.
I know, it just was one of those things that you— I think I thought it was salt and then it was like bam.
Yeah, initially I was thinking that like it looked like I thought it was gonna be a little too much bready, but it's actually not. It's, it's like super thin, crispy. Yeah, delicious.
Did you catch my bam? We're in New Orleans. Bam! Oh my gosh, that, that, um, crust or the fry is not too thick. It's so good. It's like the lightest fried chicken but with a crispiness. I can't really describe it. It's so tasty. This is a good choice.
This is why she can't have the thigh. She ate literally all the crust, or all the—
all the skin. Yeah. Oh my God, it's huge!
Let me see it. All right, what all we got in there?
Uh, it's the surf and turf, so it's got the shrimp and the beef and the And then it's dressed, so lettuce, tomato, and pickles, and mayonnaise.
And gravy.
Oh, and gravy, yeah.
Do a little Mark Wiens action, stick our fingers in all of it.
And it's hot, it's steaming.
Looks great. So it's cut all the way through, so that's why you can see she's— everything is falling out. This is an iconic place for po'boys, they call them. The bread is much crispier than I thought it was gonna be.
It's very crispy. All right, let's go. I just got a piece of the beef. I didn't get a shrimp bite in there. That beef is really tender and tasty. I like the gravy on it as well. It offers a nice meatiness flavor to it without being too salty. Sometimes gravy can be so salty.
This thing is falling apart.
Yeah, I wasn't sure about the dressed part of it. Oh my gosh, the shrimp really adds a nice crispiness to that sandwich along with that bread. It's good.
I do really like the, um, the shrimp, and I, I definitely am going to want to try a just shrimp one at some point. Let's go.
It does have a bit of a more chew to it than most other meats, but this fry on here is perfect.
This shrimp, very light, light crispy fry. I actually really like the coleslaw on it.
Mmm.
All right, we are here at Drago's. They invented the char-grilled oysters. Uh, so it does have oysters, they put it on the grill. They put a bunch of butter, garlic, uh, there's Parmesan, I think breadcrumbs.
I don't know. They are hot, like be careful. All right, they're hot.
I think we should eat it.
Yeah, I gotta get a fork.
And there is like a ton of butter and all these herbs and spices. Rachel, but we also wanted to try king cake, which is a Mardi Gras only time, um, dessert that you can get in New Orleans.
And from what I understand, it's not like cake, it's more like a cinnamon roll. So hopefully we'll see.
There's a pig. All right, we just finished up eating a king cake for the first time. What'd you think about that?
I want it for my birthday.
It was so good.
Like, that's what I want a birthday cake to taste like.
Um, yeah, it was, it was, it was a lot like a cinnamon Which is what we were kind of thinking that it was going to be. Um, the frosting is more like a cake roll or a birthday cake style. It's not— I kind of thought it was going to be cream cheese, but it's not. Um, and then there's sprinkles on top.
It's got the sugar sprinkles on it.
Yes.
Which was really good. And I'm with Josh, and then the filling was not too much.
Yeah, it was almond strawberries, the one that we got. The other one that they had here available was chocolate. Um, but it was great. Yeah, and you can definitely tell they make them every day.
Oh, nice. And it's about $30 for it, but I'm— 5, at least 5 or 6 servings.
Easy, easy 6 servings, I would say. We all had seconds and we still have extras.
Yep.
