WATCH THIS before staying at The LUXOR Hotel Las Vegas

In this 3‑night stay review of the Luxor Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, hosts Josh and Rachael Fillbrandt walk viewers through every aspect of the property. They begin with the Pyramid Corner King Suite, noting its large size, lack of a closet, limited hangers, dark windows, and awkward outlet placement, while praising the spacious layout and a functional fridge. The bathroom is described as basic with a two‑person tub and poor water pressure. The casino floor receives positive remarks for its size, variety of games, and affordable early‑morning $10 blackjack tables. Dining is critiqued as limited; the only meal they had was at Public House with decent beer, tuna poke nachos, and cheese curds, while other venues (Diablo’s, steakhouse, sushi bar) were either closed or not tried. The pool area is highlighted for its early‑morning sun, multiple pools, and a small hot tub that fills quickly. Nightlife consists of several lounges, a DJ, and a live rock band, though the overall vibe skews younger than the hosts’ demographic. Location is a mixed bag: the south‑end Strip is farther from central attractions, requiring rides or a walk to nearby resorts, but it’s close to the Welcome to Las Vegas sign and the tram to Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. They also mention on‑site entertainment options like the Blue Man Group, comedy shows, and rotating exhibits (King Tut, Titanic, Bodies). Service touches include a personal phone call to Platinum members and attentive housekeeping. The hosts conclude that despite dated décor, the clean rooms, amenities, and price point make the Luxor a worthwhile choice, and they would stay again, warning viewers about the slow, shaky “inclinator” elevator.
Chapters
Hey everybody, I'm Josh.
And I'm Rachael.
If you've ever wondered if the Luxor is right for you in Vegas, we're gonna find out.
Let's go!
All right, we are just wrapping up a 3-night stay here at Luxor. This was my first time staying here.
I think I've stayed here at least once before.
Um, I will say it definitely surprised me.
Yes.
Yeah, so let's start off with the room. The room is a Pyramid Corner King Suite. It is room 28041.
It's huge.
It is huge. We're actually, uh, 4 floors from the top, I believe. I think there's about 32 floors here, so we are at a very high level. One of the first things that I noticed was that when you're in the Luxor area, you can see that there's a bunch of railings and hallways so people are able to overlook into the pyramid. On our level, there's not. And I think that it's just the higher you get, it, it doesn't work out. So we had no view like that. Otherwise, I kind of was excited to see that.
And honestly, we picked the pyramid rooms instead of the tower rooms because it was Josh's first time staying here. Yeah, it's an iconic thing.
Yeah, we feel like if we're gonna stay at Luxor, I want the true pyramid feel. I have heard very good things about the tower. So if you're looking for a nicer, more updated room, that's probably the one to go for. I will say I was not disappointed with this room.
No, it was very nice.
Very first thing that I saw when we walked in though, I was disappointed by. There's no closet.
None.
It is literally like—
A small hanger.
Yeah. And it had 5 hangers. And so we like to unpack generally. We did not unpack. This is the only time we've ever not unpacked when we've come to a room in Vegas because there were 5 hangers. So yeah, we were living out of a suitcase. But the space is big. There's a ton of room. There is zero artwork. As you can see behind us, this is the couch that we're sitting on and there's nothing. There's actually 2 pictures in the entire room, which has a separate bedroom and living room space. Um, but otherwise everything is pretty basic. The setup is good though.
Yeah.
It's much better than I thought it would be.
And I want to say too, because we're in a pyramid room, the other thing that's a little disappointing They have some kind of film on the windows, which is meant, I'm sure, to keep the sun out. We like the sun. We don't mind having the sun. So—
When you see the black of the pyramid, I think a lot of it is that which is keeping the, the heat out. And so we need it to keep the heat out, but it actually— it never feels light in this room.
It doesn't. It's very dark.
Um, there's a lot of lamps, and I think it's because there's just weird angles everywhere.
Yep.
Um, and so you gotta, you gotta turn on like 3, 4 different lamps to get Light in all the rooms.
Another, or maybe last thing about the room, is there is a lot of plugins. They're just awkwardly placed.
Yeah, they're like not by tables. By the bed, you've got too many things plugged in. So you— I had to unplug the lamp on my bedside just to be able to plug my phone in. Otherwise, I've got things plugged into the wall and then just laying on the floor throughout. I will say the bathroom is Basic. There is no— there's no tub in there because there is a— I mean, I don't want to call it a hot tub. It's not a hot tub. It's a 2-person tub that you sit by the window, and that's really nice, but the water pressure is terrible. You'll see that. I did record when the water comes on in the shower. Yeah, it was bad. Yeah, there's only one sink, so it's pretty basic in terms of that, but it's very functional. Casino floor.
I liked the casino floor.
Yeah, I used to never like it. I used to think that it was too dark because you're, you know, below the, uh, the layer that has all the shows and stuff. But I don't know, I, I enjoyed the casino a lot more than I thought I would.
Yeah, and I know it's a smoking casino, but honestly it seemed like the ceiling was high enough. I never really felt that. Yeah, so I liked it. A wide variety of games, brand new games. Um, The thing that I was missing, I think I did find it today on the walk or the headed to the walkway of Excalibur, is I like the old school games. So I did find a couple of those late in the trip, but otherwise a lot of variety of games.
Yeah.
Also for the early mornings, I went down and got coffee one morning and they did have $10 blackjack tables. It did raise to $15 by the time we went back down at like 10 o'clock in the morning, But early morning they did have a $10 buy-in.
Which is definitely better than some of the other MGM properties where you're $25 to $50 a hand.
Yes.
Yeah, I liked the casino. I thought that it was, it's large enough to give you a wide variety. It's also small enough that you don't feel like you're walking forever to find the next game that you wanna play.
Yep.
Dining. Dining is where Luxor lacks for sure. It is not a place that we typically would go for those kind of restaurants. Now don't get me wrong, we love nachos. And we would eat at Diablo's, but they weren't open when we, when we were ready. So we actually got in at 10 PM on a Thursday night, and the only place that we were able to eat at was Public House. Fine. Um, yeah, they had a decent beer menu. We got just some appetizers really. Um, tuna poke nachos, some pepperoni like egg roll things, which we did not like those. Um, and then what was the other thing? Cheese curds.
Cheese curds.
Hard to go wrong with cheese curds. Um, I actually, I really like the tuna poke nachos and the cheese curds.
Agreed.
The beer was good.
Yeah, it was decent. It was really good. Now I will say I like the variety of the quick options here at Luxor. They also have a buffet still, which we obviously do not eat at buffets very often, if ever. And they had a place called Pyramid Cafe that yesterday the line was ridiculous.
The breakfast line was crazy.
Yeah, so there is options.
So as far as getting coffee in the morning, there are 3 Starbucks. All the lines are really busy. So we typically will bring our own coffee maker for those kind of instances. The tough thing that we ran into here is they don't have any glass glasses. You know, we are at a lower-end hotel, and so everything is plastic cups.
Yeah.
And by that I mean there's 2 plastic cups in the room.
Yeah.
Now, there was a fridge, which we forgot to say that about the room. So that, that's a plus one right there.
That's a huge plus, yeah.
Yeah, but if you're gonna bring your own coffee maker, you gotta bring your own mugs if you're If you're here. As far as dining, they do have a steakhouse here. We've never eaten at it before, but that's an option if you're looking for a little bit of a more upscale. I know that the— there is a restaurant on the main level, which I think it used to be some kind of Asian restaurant, which it says something bold is coming soon. Oh yeah, it was sushi bar or something. Yeah, so maybe there's something better for you if you're looking for that other fine dining option. The pool. I was surprised by the pool.
It's huge.
Yeah.
Huge, huge. And I liked it because it was, I think it was early morning when we went and it was sunny already. So there wasn't any, there was shaded spots, but it was, you could be in the sun as well. Yeah.
As early as like 9, 10 o'clock in the morning, you're getting full sun, which there's spots, I think Bellagio, Aria, Nomad, Park MGM, all those run into the same problem. I think Caesars as well. I haven't stayed at Caesars for a while, but I remember having issues with the shadow of the sun. So where you're not getting the sun until noon. And here you— we had, we had full sun by like 9:30.
It was great.
Yep. And because we, we enjoyed doing the pool in the morning. Uh, lots of space. I want to say there were like 3, 4 different pools. Only one hot tub though.
Yeah.
So if you want the hot tub, um, get there early because it's actually a very small one too. But, uh, minimal decorations. Serves its function. Pool, I think it was good. As far as nightlife goes, we're not clubbers, but there are several different lounges down on the casino floor, which actually adds to the casino floor environment as well.
Yeah, there was a DJ last night and a band.
Yeah, DJ in one area and a live rock band in the other area. So you had a good vibe going, very much a party atmosphere.
Yes.
Yes. When we first walked in, it was very young.
We just didn't get the vibe. Yes.
Overall vibe, uh, much younger than our demographic. Yeah. I think the price point actually leads to, you know, a lot of the younger people staying here. I did not see them always here late at night though.
No.
So like at the pool and coming back from the club.
Yes.
You're gonna see a lot of like 20 to 25-year-olds.
And early morning Starbucks runs.
That's true. All right. Location. This is probably gonna be a ding. A lot of people don't like the south end of the Strip.
Yeah.
We actually really enjoyed it. Um, if it's your first time, Luxor is going to be a tough spot to be at because you are going to have to use an Uber, a Lyft, a taxi, or a lot of foot patrol.
Yeah.
If you want to get anywhere close to mid-Strip or north end of the Strip. We really only went as far as MGM Grand. We've been here Many times over. So we don't need to get to mid-strip every single time. We don't need to get to the Bellagio fountains. So for us, it was enjoyable. We got what we wanted as far as like restaurants. We went over to Mandalay Bay and Delano a couple times. So you do have a nicer place.
It is close, yeah.
And MGM Grand is not very far away. You do have the tram that runs out front to help you get from— get to Excalibur or to Mandalay Bay. But otherwise, it's really a nice, easy walk to get to Excalibur or Mandalay Bay when you're at Luxor.
The great part about this location, I think, is if you don't mind taking a quick walk, you're right really close to the Welcome to Las Vegas sign. So if that's something you wanna do, it is a pretty good spot for that piece of it. The bad part, you know, we do recommend going to like CVS or Walgreens and getting some water supplies. That thing is far away.
Yeah, there's only a couple spots and they're, they're both across the street. They're gas stations. So you've got no Walgreens, no CVS, um, not close by. Yeah, you know, for us we really like the location of Park MGM because you got a CVS on one side, ABC Store just right across the street. And there's also no bridge to get across the street here, so you gotta wait on cars and lights. So that, that is definitely a downside, but Overall, I gotta say I really enjoyed our stay here at Luxor.
I will too. And the other piece I want to add to that is if you're interested in shows or exhibit type things, they have a plethora. You have a comedy show, you have the Blue Man Group, the fantasy show, then you have the Titanic exhibit, bodies exhibit.
And right now there's a King Tut.
Yeah, so there is a lot of stuff right here in Luxor. For the price, I don't know that someone can beat it. I mean, it really is a decent spot and we enjoyed it. Now the room is dated.
It is.
But it's clean.
I did not feel like it was as dated as our New York, New York room. Now New York, New York is updating right now, and I believe that they may have gotten some— somebody else's furniture at some point here. But I actually enjoyed it. I would stay here again.
Yeah! Oh! The one piece that Josh and I both were like, heh, on is the inclinator in the pyramid.
If you like old, shaky, slow, and dirty elevators—
Then the inclinator's for you!
You are gonna enjoy your stay! Yeah!
That would be the one like, meh!
It is the slowest. I know it's not an elevator, but man, it's the slowest and shakiest I've ever been on! And you get to ride it all the time!
Yeah.
Somebody— we were, we were in with somebody today who was like, if only I knew where the stairs were. And he went above us, so he had to have been going to like the 30th floor, and he was questioning whether he should take the stairs rather than use that inclinator. It's not fun. Um, another thing that actually was a standout was I got a phone call from somebody yesterday.
You did?
From somebody here at Luxor saying, Hey, we see that you're Platinum. We're just checking in on how your stay is going. I've never had that before. And so that actually was very nice. Had a little bit of personal touch. It wasn't a casino host even. It was just somebody from the hotel wanting to check to make sure we had everything we needed.
Yeah, and housekeeping checked in on us a couple times too. It really was a very warm, welcoming stay.
