We Try an International Snack Box | Try Treats Philippines Box

In this conversational YouTube video, hosts Josh and Rachael unbox and review a Try Treats subscription box featuring snacks from the Philippines. They begin by introducing the Try Treats service, mentioning the two subscription tiers ($14.95 standard, $24.95 premium) and a 15% discount code (JOSHANDRACHEL). After opening the box, they describe the included postcard, country facts, and the nine listed items, noting a mystery treat. The hosts taste each snack—prawn crackers, cheese balls, corn‑flavored cornick, Jacobina biscuits, a sweet‑and‑savory corn puff, a green‑mango butterscotch bar, Sky Flakes garlic crackers, a strawberry sponge cake, Hansel mocha sandwich biscuits, and Dolcetta premium wafer rolls—offering flavor descriptions, texture comments, and personal preferences. They highlight favorites (cornick, cheese balls, wafer rolls) and criticize less appealing items (green‑mango butterscotch bar, certain biscuits). Throughout, they maintain a light‑hearted, enthusiastic tone, occasionally noting cultural differences in flavor intensity. The video concludes with a reminder of the premium box price, the discount code, a call to subscribe, and an invitation for viewers to share their favorite international snacks.

Now let's go ahead and open our box.
All right, so we just opened our box and we had not looked at this until this very moment.
Yeah, so we got a box from the Philippines. It does say a little note in here that says if you see an item in the box that's not on the card, it's because they added a mystery treat to our box this month.
So, all right, so it's still safe, safe to eat.
That's right.
And we can actually see we did get a card that has 9 items on it. So we'll see if— this must be one of the premium boxes.
Yeah, and then it has a little postcard, tells a little bit more about welcome to the Philippines.
I've never been to the Philippines, have you? I haven't either.
All right. All right, and then a little bit of facts, facts about the Philippines.
So population 107 million. They speak Filipino and English. You can read more of that stuff as you get your box though. I'm gonna put this in front of us so we know what we're going for. That's a good idea. One of the things, I've actually had these before. Or at least something similar. Very first one is gonna be prawn crackers.
Prawn like prawns?
Yep. I have had shrimp chips before or shrimp crackers. Um, chip? Yep, I said shrimp chips.
Yeah, you said chips.
Yes, I've had those before, so let's see how it goes. These are like super full with air.
They are.
Um, I'm a little nervous about popping it.
I'm pretty sure I am too. I did bring the scissors if we need the scissors.
Yeah, let's use some scissors. Go ahead and cut that across there.
Oh, you can smell them. They smell like prawns.
Smells like prawns. I actually, I have not had these for a few years. You've never had them before?
I don't think so. Oh, they're crispy.
Yeah, you can see they look almost like, um, I don't know, I think back to those— is it Andy Cab? It's like fries.
Oh.
But it's like a chip fry kind of style.
Now I will tell you, I was a little put off by the smell initially, but you can't— it doesn't taste that way.
I think it tastes great.
I do too.
This is a good start.
Yeah, I shouldn't— I should put them away.
All right, we gotta try some more here. Um, the next one, another big, big bag, is cheese balls by Regent.
We like cheese balls.
Yeah, how do you go wrong with that?
Now these are all snacks that come from the Philippines, right? That's why we're getting a specific box.
That seems that way, right? That would make the most sense. And these actually just look like cheese puffs. Oh.
And they taste like cheese puffs.
I think it seems like a little more corn.
Oh, really?
Mm-hmm.
Maybe I should try it.
Compared to like a Cheetos kind of style.
Yeah, they don't have that strong artificial cheese flavor.
That's for sure. Right, right. I feel like American ones, you definitely do get more artificial.
Yeah.
I kind of like those too. I am hungry going into this, so it's kind of perfect.
It is perfect, but we also like snacks.
But I want to keep eating everything.
Yeah, I was gonna say, we also like snacks.
And as we're going, like, there is a ton of stuff in this box.
Yeah, but it comes all nicely packaged.
Yeah, so you can imagine there were 2 chip bags right here. Um, but there's a ton of stuff in here. This is our first time ever doing this, so I don't know, it seems cool. It does.
I'm kind of— oh, are you gonna skip this one?
Yeah, let's, let's go to a different one because I don't want to do all the bags that are kind of similar first.
Yeah.
Okay, this is an interesting one. It says Boy Bawang Cornick.
Oh, I hope that's—
Golden sweet corn butter flavor.
You know what I'm hoping for?
Um, like corn nuts?
Yeah, corn nuts type thing, or even the, um, puppy I can't think of this cereal.
Corn Pops?
Corn Pops.
Oh, Corn Pops would be really good.
Yeah, Corn Pops is more what I'm getting.
It is now tastier and crunchier.
Yes! We do love crunchy snacks. Crunchy snacks are good.
Yeah, I feel like this is gonna be our lunch today, thankfully. Okay, they look—
They almost look like Corn Nuts.
They do kinda look like Corn Nuts. So it is butter flavor. I'm gonna guess there's other flavors because the way that the butter flavor says it on there.
It is sweet. I'm getting the sweet corn.
Yeah, a lot sweeter than I was expecting.
It actually tastes like corn. Like real corn.
Well, I think this is— so far, this is what I'm kind of gathering from this. It's gonna feel much more natural than the artificial flavors that we kind of have gotten used to in America.
They do taste— and that's what I'm thinking, it tastes more like corn.
It doesn't smell pretty.
No, but it tastes really good.
I could eat it all day long. I don't want to smell it though.
That's how I felt about the prawn crackers.
Yeah. Oh, we should save this till, till the end. That one looks— there does look like there's some more sweet snacks and there's some savory snacks.
Um, and if you've been watching us, you know we like both. We'll eat both.
Okay, I don't know what this one is, so let's go ahead and do this one next. Uh, it's Jacobina.
It says it's a brand by— it's a brand by Noseda Bakery. Where he set up a small bakery after World War II and produced a deliciously crispy and light biscuit best enjoyed with milk or coffee.
Well.
We don't have milk or coffee.
I've already had 3 cups of coffee today. I might have to have a coffee after this with some of these though.
Definitely. I wanna eat more of that corn one.
I actually really like the corn one.
I like that corn one.
Yeah, that is like, it's lingering in my mouth in the best way.
Yeah, I really like that. Do you need the scissors for that too? Nope.
All right, go ahead and grab one of those.
Oh, they're like little square cookies.
Yeah.
I don't smell anything.
I don't think I taste much.
No, I was hoping for like a shortbread flavor, but, uh, it's just a wafer.
Yeah, it actually makes me think more of like a tame graham cracker.
Yeah, I don't like that one. It's not my favorite for sure.
No, I agree. But I think it's like, initially when I— when you were reading that, I was kind of thinking it was gonna be like a Biscoff, but it's like super tame flavoring.
Maybe that's why I don't like it, because the rest of these, the other ones we've tried, do have a pretty good flavor.
Right. Um, okay, this one— oh, actually, maybe we should do the chip one again because it looks like we're gonna head into sweet area.
Golden sweet corn.
Definitely seems like corn is a big thing in the Philippines.
Yeah.
Oh, that smells terrible.
Yeah, what is the— what's the smell?
Yeah, I don't know why it does not smell very good.
I think that must be the special one because it's not on the list. Nope, there it is. It says lip-smacking corn puff snack.
All right.
Similar to or shaped like cheese balls.
Yeah, it does not smell good.
These 2 are from the same company, the cheese balls and the sweet corn.
That's true, yeah.
I dropped it.
It just makes me think like eating corn out of a can.
Yes.
Yeah.
In a puffy—
In a puff format. Yeah, it is literally like eating corn from a can. It's a fake cheese puff.
I need a drink of water.
I think I'm gonna drink water after this one too. Um, we love corn. In that manner, I don't know if I do.
I think I'll go back to this golden sweet corn one. Wow.
All right. Hey, we found one that we thought was gross.
Let's go to the next one.
Yeah, okay. So this is an interesting one. So it is Pinky's Goodies Green Mango Butterscotch Bar.
Green mango flavored butterscotch. Huh.
All right.
Those are 2 flavors I don't think I would have put together. No.
Uh, with a— they are bars with a slightly chewy texture and a great snack for any occasion.
Well, good, because it's Sunday and it's an occasion.
Yeah, a random Sunday snack. Oh gosh. Um, yeah.
That looks interesting.
Yeah, it makes me think of like fruitcake initially.
Uh-huh.
And not in a good way. I don't know if fruitcake is ever used as a good descriptor. Like, that was awesome.
Huh.
Yeah, I don't think that was good.
I don't think those 2 flavors go together.
Mm, oh.
No.
Don't spit it out.
No, I didn't.
But—
I'm gonna need another drink of water.
Yeah, that one was gross. That's 2 in a row that are like kind of bombing.
All right, let's—
We do have 4 more.
Yeah.
So I'm hoping that one of these, uh, Whichever one we end on will at least be tasty.
I'm hoping to end on that one. I think one of those two.
Okay, what you got there?
Sky Flakes crackers.
Sky Flakes crackers.
It looks—
Oh gosh. The number one undisputed cracker brand in Philippines, Sky Flakes are known for their crispy taste and oven-baked freshness. Sky Flakes are ideal as a snack in between meals and can even complement many meal entrees. Perfectly. It is garlic flavor apparently. Did you see, does it say garlic?
Nope, it just says Skye Flakes Crackers. Now these kind of look like—
Oh, that butterscotch one was gross.
They kind of look like, um, club crackers but thinner.
And you have to break them apart.
Mm-hmm, but there's 3 different pieces in there.
Tastes like a soda cracker.
I was gonna say communion crackers. So yeah, soda cracker.
Like a soda cracker without the salt on it, which is sometimes the best part.
Yeah.
I don't know about those. They, they would work if I was puking.
Yes. Yeah, you have an upset stomach, these would work great.
Yeah.
I do not taste any garlic.
Huh. Now, it said garlic on the, um, card, but it does not on the package.
Um, I'm not taking a drink because it's bad flavor. It's just—
It's dry.
Dry.
It's like eating some crackers. Good call. Do you want some butterscotch mango?
No. I would really relate that back to, like you said, like A saltine cracker with no salt.
Yeah, yeah. Um, okay, do you want to go for this one then?
Sure.
All right, this one is strawberry cake. It is by Regent. Regent seems to be one of the major companies over there.
So I was gonna say, it's definitely one of those— 3 of them at least have been from Regent.
Perfect for a sweet tooth with— wait, um, this is perfect for a sweet tooth fix Luscious strawberry flavor in a light delectable sponge cake.
We'll see how this one is. Yeah.
I mean, I like the color.
I do too. Yes, thank you.
You didn't want the big part?
No.
It smells like artificial strawberry, which I Enjoy. Like, um, Frankenberry?
Definitely.
Boy, it's dry. A dry cake.
It's a sponge. It is like a sponge cake.
Mm-hmm, because it soaks up everything in your mouth.
Yes.
Um, I don't mind it though.
I know, I could keep eating it because it's not overly powerful strong.
I think with a cup of coffee or a milk I don't have any milk, but if I did, it'd be good with it. All right, 2 more. Which ones of these do you want?
I want it, I want this one.
Last?
All right.
Okay, so next up we got Hansel Mocha Sandwich, cream-filled biscuits.
All right. Oh, now this has a similar look as like Ritz cracker sandwiches.
It does, yeah. I was initially thinking it was gonna be more like an Oreo, but yeah, it looks more like a cracker.
Mmm. Now I can smell a mocha smell to that. Pretty faint. Uh-huh.
We got a bunch of dry things.
I can't taste the mocha.
I think there's a little salt in this one, which I like a lot better.
I do too.
So there's 4 of them in this, and actually I feel like it's got like a little bit of sweet and a little bit of salty. So this is like perfect snack.
I agree.
I would eat this at any time of day.
I like that one. Again, it could go really good with a cup of coffee.
Everything could go good with coffee. Alright, last one.
These look like they might be the special treat.
Because this one's not on here?
Mm-hmm.
Okay, so this is Dolcetta Premium Wafer Rolls. No high fructose corn syrup. I got crumbs in my hair. And again, it's got coffee on it, so I'm gonna bet we have a cup of coffee after this video.
These, I've had these, not these particular, but I like these particular ones.
I've had like the, is it Pepperidge Farm has these?
That's why I wanted to save them for last.
Yeah, hard to go wrong. There's chocolate in the center. It's got that nice crisp wafer on the outside.
These are delicious.
This is my favorite one. Yes, this is a fantastic one to end on.
This is why I wanted to save this for last, 'cause I do love these.
Yeah, I think this is awesome.
Me too.
