What makes the Cosmopolitan one of the BEST Hotels on the Las Vegas Strip?

In this conversational video, Josh and Rachael Fillbrandt review their stay in a Terrace 1‑Bedroom Suite at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. They walk through the suite’s layout and amenities—spacious living area, ample storage, multiple outlets, a fridge, a large shower, and a balcony with a soaking tub that they find awkward. They compare view options (strip, south, Bellagio Fountain) and note that the balcony receives intense sun for about five hours each morning. They praise the hotel’s upkeep despite its age and highlight the ease of check‑in, the ability to upgrade rooms for a modest fee, and the convenience of accessing the rooms without traversing the casino floor. They discuss the casino floor’s high‑energy atmosphere, noting it’s great for those who enjoy crowds and constant action, but a downside for guests seeking quiet. Drink service on the casino floor is described as consistently excellent, with a pro tip to order a “Cosmo” cocktail. The dining scene is dissected: breakfast spots like Eggslut and District Donuts have long lines, while the Henry and Overlook Grill are less advertised but offer good food with fewer waits. Late‑night dinner options are plentiful and upscale, though mid‑range choices are limited. They mention several bars and speakeasy‑style lounges (Ghost Donkey, Ski Lodge, Chandelier, etc.) and the signature Verbena drink. The pool area is deemed basic but benefits from an elevated view; daybeds require a food‑and‑beverage minimum rather than a direct fee. Location is highlighted as a major advantage—directly on the Strip, within easy walking distance to Planet Hollywood, Bellagio, and other attractions. They conclude the Cosmopolitan is one of their top three Las Vegas hotels, recommending it for guests who value central location, modern design, and vibrant nightlife, while cautioning those who dislike crowds or intense balcony sun.
Chapters
Hey everybody, I'm Josh.
And I'm Rachael. And we're just getting ready to check out of the Cosmopolitan.
And we're gonna show you why this is definitely one of the top hotels on the Strip here in Las Vegas.
Let's go!
Alright, so we are just about to check out of the Terrace 1 Bedroom Suite, and we want to share some of the biggest takeaways we have for the Cosmo. Reasons why we think you should stay and why you shouldn't. So we have now stayed in 3 different rooms. I get the names confused because honestly, as long as they have a terrace, I don't care which room it is in the Cosmo.
Yeah.
I want it.
I agree.
What did you think about this room?
I really liked it. This is the first time we've stayed in the one with the little soaking tub overlooking the balcony. I don't need the soaking tub overlooking the balcony. It's kind of weird.
I actually, I actually prefer having one of the whirlpool tubs, which you can get in some of the other rooms. We filled it with water, sat in it, and then—
It's just an awkward— even 2 people sitting in there, like, it's Truly just awkward. It's awkward.
And I, I don't get too thrown off by this, but other people might. Um, so we have a Strip view right now, which is beautiful, and I actually probably prefer the Strip view to the South view or the Bellagio Fountain view.
I agree.
Um, and I would recommend doing that, but you have a clear window there and it's literally just across the Strip is another hotel, so May not be your cup of tea. If you're nervous about people looking in on you, you may not enjoy that part. It's a nice relaxing setting. It's just not exactly what I'm interested in. I do enjoy the beds. I like it that they give you enough pillows.
Yes.
It's actually what hotels should give you. I love the living room settings in all the rooms that we've been in. They all give you Refrigerators.
That's what I was gonna say. The biggest piece for me is having that extra fridge. Throwing in a couple bottles of water that we picked up and just having that cold. That really is something the hotels in Vegas need to consider going back to.
Gosh, I would love it. It would be nice. The shower is very cool. I actually really like that the shower is large.
Yeah.
And we were talking about, for us, instead of the Japanese soaking tub, having the shower more extended that way.
Yeah.
I think that would be cool. Otherwise, lots of storage space, huge room.
Outlets galore.
Yes, these, these rooms— I think one of the best things about Cosmo is even though it is now like 10 years old or more, it is so well maintained. And I think that that is what has really set it apart from an Aria, Bellagio, from those higher-end hotels. And obviously the other thing that sets it apart is the terrace.
The terrace.
Having a balcony.
Even the decorations in here, like it's so chic. It's so modern. It's one of those kind of fun things. I think that's what I enjoy about walking in the Cosmo. You're like, yeah, this is kind of cool.
Hopefully MGM continues with that. Yeah. Um, but we'll see.
Balcony. The only thing I have to say about the balcony, um, this morning as we were eating breakfast, the minute the sun rose above Planet Hollywood, it was like—
A billion degrees and straight in your face.
Yeah. Um, but that was, I mean, it's minor detail just now. I'm sitting out there, it's not shining in your face anymore, it's perfectly fine.
But yeah, so there's probably a 5-hour window where you will not want to be out there.
Yeah.
So the check-in process was great.
Super easy.
One thing I can tell you that I'm sure a lot of people didn't realize, lines were super long when we got down there. There is one line at the very end on the left-hand side which says identity, um, invited guests. So we are here on a comp stay. We were originally supposed to be in the terrace room that has, uh, doesn't have the Japanese soaking tub, it actually has just a straight shot to the balcony. And we paid an extra $40.
Yeah, it wasn't— it didn't seem like very much, so that's why we did it since we've never been in this room.
Yeah, we wanted to try a new room. Yeah, um, it also ended up being strip view, so I'm not sure what the extra cost was for that. Right. But the check-in process was easy. They do allow you to upgrade to different rooms as you choose. Just say, hey, how much would it cost?
The thing— one of the things I really like about it is I'm not a huge fan of the casino floor. But I do like how you can come in from the Strip onto the 2nd floor to get to your room. Like, you don't have to go through the casino to get up here.
So let's— that, that gets into a downside about Cosmo. If you're a person that does not like crowds, does not like noise, does not like constant action, um, Cosmo is probably the wrong place for you. The, the casino floor is the highest action, highest excitement floor that I've seen in Las Vegas. And even on that second floor around the Block 16 area, or at night around like Marquee, there gets to be lines. It does get pretty nuts. Very crazy, very chaotic. If that is not your vibe, you do not want to do it. I know a lot of people want it simply for the balconies, but you got to remember that you come with the, the chaotic casino floor as well. It does tend to be more of a party vibe as well, which if you're not into that You'll want to think about that. I know if you have a south-facing balcony, you can also hear the night and day clubs.
Yeah.
If you are too low. So things to think about when you are picking your rooms. The Bellagio Fountains. We have stayed in the Chelsea Tower, which is the back tower facing Bellagio Fountains. I think we're on like level 50 or so. You don't hear music. You can see it, but you don't hear it. Yeah, you can see it. It's one of those things where it's very pretty to look at, but you If you realize that when you're that high up, you're not hearing the music to go with it, and it really does take away. So if you're going for the fountains, I would recommend going in the Boulevard Tower on a lower level. I will also say, if you're a fan of short hallways in hotels, pick the Boulevard Tower. That's why— one of the things I like. I also like that we can get in and out very quickly.
Yep.
And that's why we're in it.
Uh, back to the casino floor. One of the things I do like— we did play a little bit, um, on the casino floor, and one of the things I do like is there is good drink service. Even this morning.
Agreed.
Um, even in morning time, we had coffee, water. I think yesterday, as we— after we checked in, I want to say like 4 or 5 times someone came back.
In less than an hour.
Yeah. Um, yeah, which to me is a big deal because we sat We've sat in at other casinos and we've said this before, sometimes that just doesn't happen.
Yeah, I think consistent— consistently, Cosmo has the best drink service on the casino floor. It's very hard to argue otherwise from my standpoint.
I will say, tip, I'm gonna call this the pro tip of this video. When you're at the Cosmo, order a Cosmo on the casino floor. They come in a nice true glass. I don't know, it's just one of the fun things I like ordering off the casino floor. A Cosmo at the Cosmo.
That's true. As far as food goes here at Cosmo, Cosmo has great options. Yeah, I would probably put it in like top 5.
Yep.
As far as places that you can, you know, simply come to Cosmo, eat everything at Cosmo. Breakfast, I think, is a very— it is their downfall. Yeah. You'll see that like Eggslut, which is fine, it's egg sandwiches, but it's like a fast food egg sandwich. But it— you have a huge line. District Donuts is your other option, and that has a long line too.
Well, the Henry and Overlook Grill, but I don't think they necessarily advertise those that well. We didn't even know about the Overlook Grill until like the second time we stayed here. And I bet you those options would be much busier if people knew about them. And I, I just don't think people do.
I think the Henry gets known, but Henry has really weird hours because it's basically opening at like, I think, 9, 10 PM and then open until through the morning rush.
Yeah, it's a weird time.
It is. And it does have good breakfast, so I would recommend that if you're not looking to wait in a line. People probably think, oh, I'm just gonna grab a quick bite, but you're gonna wait for 30 minutes to get your egg sandwich, whereas you probably could have gone to the Henry.
Yeah, and same thing for coffee there. They do have an option, the Starbucks option, the District Donuts option.
I think there's one more restaurant. There's also a coffee shop as you go further into the casino, closer to the check-in desk. So the Starbucks might have a really long line, but just go to the coffee shop that's closer to the check-in.
Yeah.
As far as the pools go, we did not stay— we did not go to the pool this time. I think the pools are fine. I would not put them— They're pretty basic. Yeah, I would not put them at a higher level personally. No, um, the only cool thing is that they're up at a higher level so you can look out.
I do, um, want to say about that though, the nice part— we, we did do a daybed one time here at the Cosmo.
Yes.
And the cost of the daybed was actually just food and beverage. You have to spend that much in food and beverage, which is very nice. Yeah, which is very nice compared to, say, MGM properties where you're just truly paying for the Daybed or chairs or whatever.
And you still have to pay for all the drinks and food. So that is a great—
Cosmo does have a good piece on that.
So yeah, um, it'll be interesting to see if that holds.
I wonder if that stays. Um, we did hear too that you can start charging, um, across to like Aria and Bellagio here at Cosmo at certain spots. We did not try it because we're not staying at Aria or Bellagio, but That option is there.
Um, back to restaurants, I do feel like they have a great dinner collection too. Um, where, where they may lack in, um, early, early eats, they make up for in late night eats.
That's true.
Um, tons of dinner options, tons of very good higher scale stuff. I doubt— I wouldn't say that there's gonna be a lot of mid to low tier, um, but very high-end stuff that you can get at a lot of others, and I think that it would compare similar to Aria. Close to— closer to Aria and Wynn, but I would still put it below them.
They have a lot of bar options.
They do.
They have a lot of like little speakeasy-type bars, I guess you'd call them secret hideout bars. I don't, I don't really know what the difference between a speakeasy— if you know the difference between a speakeasy and like a hideout bar, please leave a comment down below and educate me. But they have I know behind Beauty and Essex they have the Ghost Donkey. They have one down at the barbershop.
They have the Ski Lodge.
The Ski Lodge one. We— so yeah, there is tons of options.
Yes, great nightlife.
Oh, and the Chandelier Bar. We've actually never had a drink there, but—
Right, but it's 3 levels.
Yeah.
Um, it is beautiful, and I know a lot of people love it. They've had the Verbena, which is the must-drink.
Is that the mouth-numbing drink?
Yeah, it's supposed to numb your mouth. I don't know. Someday we'll have it.
Maybe.
And the other thing obviously that makes Cosmo a great option for people— location. If you are a person who is wanting to be center Strip, it is probably what I would consider the best center Strip property.
Because you're truly right off the Strip. You don't have to walk like Bellagio and Caesars where you have to walk clear off the Strip. You're right on the Strip.
Yeah, you can, you can easily cross the street over to Planet Hollywood quickly. You can get over to Bellagio fast. It really is the ideal location for us.
Yep.
All right, well, we gotta check out of this place. We have enjoyed it. We did double book because we truly enjoy Cosmo and it is one of our top 3 hotels in Las Vegas. But if you're enjoying our videos, don't forget to hit that like and subscribe.

Thank you. All right, we just left, but I really can't go without saying Block 16 is what is probably my favorite casual eatery spot here in Las Vegas. So they do a very good job with that, and I don't think I gave it enough credit, but casual eats, Block 16 is great.
Yes.
