All right, we just left Vic and Anthony's. I gotta say, that snuck into our top 5 steakhouses here in Las Vegas.
It absolutely did.
Hey everybody, I'm Josh.
And I'm Rachael.
And today we are bringing you down to Fremont Street looking for the best steakhouse in Vegas. That's right, let's go try out Vic and Anthony's.
And he's here at the Golden Nugget. Hi, I'm Rachael Fillbrandt. Fresh strawberry spinach salad. Has a vinaigrette and it looks like some crumbled goat cheese. I'm ready.
Looks like there's a lot of stuff on there.
There is. I think there's even blueberries. What stands out in that bite is the very fresh strawberries. It is amazing how that just goes with that spinach so well. I'm excited for you to try this.
All right, so we were not going to get an appetizer, but our waiter did recommend the crab cake, and boy is this a big one. Uh, you can see it's almost no filler at all. That is just delicious fresh crab meat. There's a little bit of breading that you can see on the outside, a little bit of— I'm struggling to decide if there's There's a little bit of heat. Not much, if anything, if there is. Really just super fresh crab. A little bit of tomatoes.
It really looked like zero filler.
Yeah, I don't think there is. If you like crab, you're gonna love this. All right, so I do want to say I did have the salad and they actually split it for us. I thought it was delicious. Lots of fresh fruit. Uh, the goat cheese was delicious. The dressing, it looked like it was overdressed initially, but it actually ate really well. And then there was a nut on there.
I can't remember what it was.
Hopefully we'll We'll put a description down below for you to see. It all ate really well. Very light, very fresh. And the crab cake, awesome.
Awesome. That crab cake was freaking amazing. I want to say pine nut. Let's, let's bet on it. Pine nuts.
Well, there's a menu, so we'll add that in there.
Okay.
Let's see who's right.
Okay. Oh man, Josh.
That looks cooked well.
Cooked perfectly.
Or medium rare.
Yeah, I actually ordered it medium rare.
So this is the New York. Looks good.
Definitely not the sear that we've had at previous steakhouses, but to me— and this isn't a bad thing for it— this reminds me of a steak you cook at home. Like, it gives you that comforting feeling. It's got the char marks on it from the grill, cooked perfectly. Classic, great steak.
All right, so this is a rib cap, and I actually can see what you're saying. I don't see a super hard sear, which is one of the things that we really enjoy. Um, I have not had a rib cap I haven't had a steak since Carver's Steak, I think.
I think you're right. Yeah.
All right, so unlike yours, I do feel like mine is seasoned quite well.
Okay, good.
I can taste the finishing salt on mine, and maybe once we eat a little further into yours, we'll actually see that. But on mine, I do have quite a bit of seasoning salt on it. I do enjoy it. I think it's super tender. It does not have that hard sear that we look for a lot of times, but the tenderness of the steak, the juiciness, flavor, I do enjoy.
Alright, since we're on it, Josh, what did you think of your custom-made cocktail? The Vic and Anthony's Old Fashioned?
I felt like it was very good. Um, it was a classic Old Fashioned. There's nothing that's going to be like earth-shattering. It's not something that like you're never gonna get again, but I did enjoy it. Uh, it's— it puts me in that classic steakhouse feel. Now, au gratin potatoes. These look so cheesy.
They do. They have a nice like almost, uh, Browned cheese on top? I don't know if that's the right word for it, but that's what it—
I mean, I'm sure they put it under like the salamander.
Yes, there you go. Okay.
Yep, super cheesy potatoes, good flavor. Um, there's— it's potatoes, it's cheese, and it's cooked well.
It's good. So when you need a little finishing salt and you still have some left on your margarita—
Yep, we're going salt bae style.
You just go salt bae style. Yep.
Big coarse salt is actually all it needed. How was it after you did that?
After, I mean, like, it's a game changer. Sometimes that finishing salt is all you need to add that finishing touch. It truly is finishing salt for the finishing touch of the steak. It made it perfect.
When you're too hungry to eat dessert, you drink it.
Too full.
Yeah.
We weren't too hungry. We already are full.
Oh yeah, we're too full. Peanut butter chocolate martini espresso.
Espresso martini.
Peanut butter chocolate espresso martini. Check that out.
That's like—
wow.
So it's like your morning cup of coffee in a martini with a hint of peanut butter. It's not very strong peanut butter flavor yet.
I agree.
That's good.
I did sneak a drink while she was talking. But it's a good way to finish. Alright, we just left Vic and Anthony's. I gotta say, that snuck into our top 5 steakhouses here in Las Vegas.
It absolutely did. And let me make a quick clarification, because earlier in the video you're gonna see that I said it's a home-cooked New York strip. Not really. What I'm saying is, at home we don't go out to eat for steak because Josh can do it so well. So that's where I felt it, it landed for me. It just replicated Why we don't go out to eat at home for it.
Now— Which we struggle to get a good hard sear at home as well.
Yes, we do. A little bit of extra salt though, and that New York was great. I will tell you the one thing about that is I almost think they over-trimmed it because I like a little bit of fat on my New York strip.
She does. So New York strip is not my favorite.
Yes.
And part of it is because I feel like it's a little bit tougher.
Yes.
Rachael likes that bite that a New York gives, which is why I'm more of a ribeye to filet guy. She is more of a New York 2 ribeye person.
Yep.
Um, but we need a little bit of fat. That's the reason why it's there. It's for flavor.
Now let's talk about the surprising one, the rib cap. Let me tell you, I'm gonna say it, it's the best rib cap we've had in Vegas. It was so good.
The flavor was amazing. It was lacking the sear that I do generally look for, but I did love the taste. The flavor was awesome.
And overall, between Ambiance, service, A1, number one, and food. This place rocks it. I would almost say if you're looking for a classic steakhouse vibe, you gotta try Vic and Anthony's here at the Golden Nugget. It's so good.
If you're in the downtown area, definitely worth checking out. We really approve it.
We did.
