Senior executives have hard-won lessons and mistakes that never make it to LinkedIn. Make Media exists to get those stories out, especially from people over 50 who can offer candid advice the next generation actually needs.

A friend of mine was asking me why I was building another company, and I paused for a moment and I shared that I need an outlet for all the ideas in my head to get out. And so that's why we're building Make Media the way we are, because there's so many executives that have lessons that they can share, mistakes that they've made that other people can learn from, and very hard-won victories. And how did you make this happen and that happen? And what are some of the things that you recommend people avoid. There is a dearth of this kind of content out there that's real. A lot of stuff that you see posted on LinkedIn, oftentimes from first-time entrepreneurs, is about how to make money. And look, I'm all for making money. I built a few companies and had some good successes. But one thing that I think that the more senior people on LinkedIn— and I would consider myself one of those, I built my first company in the mid-'90s— should share are all of those really tough lessons where you thought you were making the right decision and you didn't, and what happened. As you get older, you're much more comfortable sharing all of that. And so I encourage you, if you haven't posted on LinkedIn and you are, I don't know, I'm gonna say over 50, if you would just take a moment and just share some of those experiences that you've had, that would be really valuable for the next generation of entrepreneurs. It's a way for you to give back. So forget about all this stuff about why you need to post to draw more attention to yourself. Forget about all of that stuff. That's all vanity stuff. Just give back.
