Why Mentoring Now? #mentorcloud #mentoring #productivity #growth #connection #growthmindset

Dr. Ravi Gundlapalli says hybrid work has killed the casual conversations that used to spark learning and connection, leaving employees isolated and less productive. Without intentional mentoring systems, companies lose money to turnover. He argues structured mentoring platforms are now essential infrastructure, not a perk.

The cost of not doing mentoring, you know, it's, it's very high for companies right now. The cost of not doing something right. You know, 30, 40 years ago, you were all in one building. There was informal interactions happening. There were those serendipitous work, water cooler interactions where a senior executive said something to somebody and then, you know, that really led to an innovative idea. Right? So you could continue growing and innovating and creating an ambience of learning and interactions. But today, in a hybrid environment, every day you don't catalyze those human interactions, you're losing money.
Because human beings, the moment they feel lonely, it takes a long time for them for you to give them a sense of connectivity. Again, whether it is diversity, whether it is feeling the connection to the senior leaders or to the purpose of the company. What happened very informally, organically, needs to be done more intentionally now. So you got to be intentional now. You got to create mechanisms where people come in and you already have that. You have platforms like Slack where you're bringing teams together. You need to create a similar space for learning, a similar space for growth. And what it was happening organically before, you can't today when your people are working from home or working in multiple locations. So every day you are losing money because somebody somewhere is feeling disengaged and that person is going to leave or become less productive. It has direct impact to your bottom line. So if you really look at the sort of the return on investment on mentoring, you know, 20 years ago, it may not be as high. Today it can be thousands of dollars per day if you really don't act and create these kind of human interactions and human to human learning mechanisms in your organization. Sam.
