Are you a technician or an entrepreneur? In his book, The E-Myth, Michael Gerber makes this kind of distinction talking about if you do want to be a baker who bakes lots of things, or do you want to run a bakery? And those two are very different because the main job of an entrepreneur is to build the business. And the first job of building a business is going to be making sales. If what you want to do is go out there and sell and be able to deliver more of your wisdom and more of the value that your company could bring to our customers, Then that's exactly what you should be doing. You are an entrepreneur. You are a marketer. You are a salesperson. But if what you want to do is be behind your desk, be doing the coding, be doing the technical type of work, then you're more of a technician. That's okay. Being a technician can be a way to deliver a whole lot of value, but what you should be looking for is how can you partner with or work for that salesperson who sees your value and knows how to connect your supply with the demand.
