Avoid the J curve. There's a common phenomenon in software where you first start spending a lot building your software, and then eventually you're going to be able to ship it a bit and start making some money with it. And then hopefully at some point you're going to spend a lot less building it than you are making money with it. And that's like the upper part of the J, right? So we talk about the bowl of the J being a very dangerous place to be because that is where you are losing your money. And usually that's at the front end of the business. That's one of the reasons why people would raise funding and that kind of thing. The amazing thing about modern software development technologies, including no-code, low-code, is that we can dramatically reduce the requirements of what we need to build and the investment we need to make before we start bringing our product to the market and actually making money with it. In fact, often we can make money with it first. Avoid the J, avoid the dip. If you can be self-funding it by creating revenue early on, you have a much higher probability of a successful business.
