The most successful businesses act as guides that help their customers become heroes, not the other way around. This idea, rooted in Donald Miller's StoryBrand framework, creates a virtuous cycle: every guide was once guided, like the mentorship chain from Star Wars. When you elevate others into hero roles, everyone wins.

The best businesses are heroes to someone else. They're going to be heroes usually to the other people in their supply chain, their vendors, and to their clients, and hopefully also to their business partners. But really, who is it that you want to be a hero to? That, if you have that as a North Star, you're going to be of much greater service to your clients and be able to make things really work with them. The, I find that mode of being a hero is really useful because it plays into the Donald Miller StoryBrand concept. Where your role is to be a guide. There, your client sees themselves as being a hero, but the guide is a hero to the hero of that story. And of course, that guide had a hero. We have Luke Skywalker, who was trained by Obi-Wan Kenobi, trained by Qui-Gon Jinn, and by Yoda. And who knows who Yoda looked up to? There's a continuous chain of these. And when we use our message to elevate others to be heroes to them, we enable them to be heroes and keep the virtuous circle rising.
