An entrepreneur argues that founders should build valuable software first instead of chasing funding. With low-code platforms, your main costs are your time and knowledge, not materials. Focus on creating recurring revenue and you'll build equity naturally.

Build to create value, not raise capital. I can't tell you how many people I talk to, like in the low-code space, who say, yeah, I should make this. It'll be so fast to make this. And you know what? I should totally raise money for this. Why would you raise money for that? I've even talked to people who are talking about like getting, raising debt money for whatever their low-code project is. That's insanity to me. Because the thing about building the software is that there's no cost of goods sold. There's no input. The input's your time. The input is intellectual property of like these various tools that you get to use that are fantastic. Cheap now. There's never been a better time to be an entrepreneur, but there's also an awful time to put capital to work. What you can do is put your time to work and put your energy to work and put your market reputation to work and put your knowledge to work. All those things will really work to your advantage, and those can turn into income. And that repeated income and reputation and knowledge then creates equity. Later on, maybe that's something you can go sell, but for now, focus on building, create value for the customer.
