Your weaknesses might be shadows cast by your strengths. Identify what you're actually good at first, then use your limitations as clues to find hidden capabilities you haven't developed yet.
Chapters
Consider your strengths and shadows. A management book I was reading recently talked about identifying your strengths and then paying attention to what the shadows are of those strengths. But I think it's also worth saying that like, if you think, "Oh man, I can't do X," you have sort of a self-identified weakness, you might be better off recasting that weakness as a shadow. Right? It's a shadow that's underneath something else that is standing up and providing you with value. So while they're cautioning to say, "Hey, a strength, you know, over-applied has a shadow to it," I think you might also say that perhaps your weakness or your self-identified limitations or what have you are a manifestation, right, are a shadow of a strength that you have. If you can identify your strengths, you are in a wonderful position to figure out how you can be creating a whole lot more value. And if you have a hard time looking at them directly, I might encourage you to just look for your shadows. Your weaknesses will tell you where you're strong.
