Low-code platforms will evolve by combining multiple interaction modes: code, chat, sketching, and visual environments. Multimodal platforms could deliver a ten-fold improvement in development speed and value. When evaluating low-code tools, prioritize those with multimodal capabilities.

The future of low-code, probably of all software development, is multimodal. We talk a lot in AI about being multimodal. Multimodal means combining text and images and video to create new kinds of insight, like DALL-E being able to use the text and inputs of the images in order to create new images, that kind of thing. The— or be able to do diffusion models, et cetera. But in the case of low-code, I think what's really interesting is being able to take the multiple modalities, being able to write code in a programming language, being able to use a chat-based interface to describe your intent using natural language, being able to sketch an image, being able to work with visual environments that a lot of these no-code systems provide nowadays. The ones that are able to combine these things well are going to unlock a whole lot more value and really 10x the game, I think, from a software development point of view. So look when you're evaluating your systems, what is going to be multimodal and combining multiple ideas?
