When you're stuck at your desk, take a five-minute nap instead of staring at the screen. You'll wake up refreshed and actually get work done, rather than wasting an hour going nowhere.

Go take a nap. I have found huge productivity gains if I realize I'm sort of staring at my, you know, at my laptop or what have you in an effort to write or code or do something. If I'm not in the middle of a meeting that's going to propel me forward, I will sometimes take the opportunity to go take a nap. You know what, I should probably do it more often because when I do that, when I set a little alarm and I just lie down in a manner that is going to be relaxing to me, when I wake up on the other side, man, I am so ready to move. And I'm able to make a lot more progress. And the alternative for me was to sit staring at things for a longer period of time. When your job is to think, when your job is to create, sitting there not creating is non-productive. So if you're going to be doing that, you might as well be in a rest state and have 5 minutes of productivity at the end as opposed to 60 minutes of non-productivity. Don't be afraid, go take a nap. That's what I do.
