Being in the right place matters more than having the best technique. In tennis and hockey, positioning beats a better swing or hit. Dan Sullivan calls this 10x easier than trying to improve performance by 2x.

Positioning is more important than performance. This lesson keeps on coming up over and over in the world of strategy, in the world of business, heck, in the world of sport, right? Like if you're playing tennis, you will be told the most important thing is to run to the ball, where the ball is, where the ball's going, and then you are in position to be able to take your swing. It's not so much about having a better swing, it's about taking a swing from where the ball is going to be. The same is largely true, I think, in business. If you can be positioning yourself in the right place for, you know, success in your market, That matters so much more than just like the hustle and grind of trying to improve your performance on the margin. I think this is the essence of like Dan Sullivan's 10x Easier Than 2x mental model. If you are, you know, focusing on being in the right place and getting to it and getting to where the puck is going, you have an unfair advantage of getting a really good hit as opposed to just practicing your hits. You practice your running. This is where conditioning matters. This is where just, you know, strategy matters, understanding the court, understanding your environment. Take positioning over performance.
