React qualifies as low-code because its tooling ecosystem lets people without deep technical training build products with less hand-written code. AI tools like ChatGPT now generate React snippets from natural language prompts, shrinking the manual work even further.

React is low-code. I think that's a kind of spicy take. A lot of people think of no-code, low-code as being things that are visual development environments. But really I look at no-code, low-code as being places where you can have people who don't have specialized technical training able to make marketable products. And the thing is React tooling has gotten a lot better and it keeps on getting better. And partially it's getting better because the existence of these other no-code, low-code environments. It's getting better because the existence of tools. That are out there that allow you to compose in some React to other of these so you can do less actual coding. It's become easier because of things like ChatGPT where there's such a huge corpus of React code and JSX out there that you can ask it things and they can start to produce a lot of the work for you. When you ask what is no-code, what is low-code, don't limit yourself to just the closed source or paid services. Take a look at some of the open source. Take a look at React. That's low-code too.
