Prioritize sales and market demand before building anything. A product is the intersection of what you build and real customer demand. Businesses with strong sales survive even with rough products, while impressive products with no customers fail.

Put sales before product. I talk to a lot of founders, people who are very excited about their idea for a business. They tell me their idea for the business, and it turns out the idea is for a product or for an artifact, the thing that you want to build. Sometimes it's no-code, low-code, sometimes using something more technical. But what I find is what they don't have is an idea for a product. A product is at the intersection of that artifact or the thing you can bring, the supply, and the demand in the market. And I'll tell you, I've seen many more businesses survive that have an excellent market and don't really have a product yet, or sometimes ever, than I've seen companies have great products but don't really have a customer or a market yet. By focusing your attention on the part of the business that is the business, the part that's going to bring in the money and the part that's going to be creating value for other people down the line, you maximize your opportunity to create a viable, valuable business.
