The most effective business strategy is operating where you're strong and the market is weak. The speaker's biggest wins came from this alignment, while copying others' strengths or chasing mismatched ideas underperformed. These opportunities are rare but generate outsized returns.

There's only one strategy, and that strategy is always strength against weakness. You need to find where you are strong and where the market is weak, and that's going to be the place where you can make the highest value moves. I have done a lot of work around business, and I have tried other things and trying to be where other people are strong. I've tried to do things that I think would have been good for the market or good for me, but actually wasn't where I was playing to my strengths. The only good moves I've ever made are ones where I've been strong and being able to go against where the market has been weaker. If you can find that opportunity, it's not going to be all the opportunities, it's not going to be all of your ideas, but if you can find that section, that's the one that's most likely to be generating really outsized returns. And by the way, if you do find that, drop me an email or send me a comment here because I would love to hear about your success story of applying Strength to Investment BIS.
