Master how entrepreneurs, product managers, and marketers think, not just what they know. Building mental models that match your audience's thought patterns makes you better at selling, consulting, and building products because you can predict their behavior and speak their language.
Chapters
Learn to think in your chosen domain. Entrepreneurs, product owners, product managers, marketing leaders, technologists, they all have modalities of thinking. And you're going to find that being able to think like them is going to be tremendously powerful when you are trying to sell to them, when you're trying to help them. If you can build a mental model of how they think, you can train yourself to start to think that way, you'll be able to cross-apply whatever expertise you have and the view you post about it, which means that, and the way that you think, into the zone in which they think. The difference isn't going to be that they're ignorant. The difference is going to be they're thinking about things in a different way. The more you can build that bridge to be thinking the way that they think, and therefore understand, build a mental model and predict how they're going to behave, the more that you'll be able to provide them with really good service. This will be great for consulting. This is great for being an employee, and it's definitely great for building software products.
