Using AI like Claude for advice often just reflects your own thinking back at you. You feed it your situation, it connects the dots you already see. It's like management consulting, but cheaper, and you're mostly extracting what you already know.

Using AI as an advisor is very often just holding up a mirror. What I have found is that when I start asking things like Claude for ideas, or I tell a bit about my business or about the situation I'm in and sort of ask for ideas, it really reflects back to me kind of things I almost already do. And when I look back, what I realize is it, as it is sort of looking for the next phrase based on the input that I've given it, which is you know, the commentary, use your best guess on setting, it's looking for the idea that connects through. And really, that means it's holding up a mirror. This can be really valuable. I think that like a lot of management consulting kind of boils down to holding up the mirror and telling people things they already know, like the old joke about the consultant who, you know, can tell you what time it is by looking at your watch. This is something that AI does, of course, does much more cheaply than the consultant does. Allow that to be the case. Know that that was going on though, and that what you're really doing is pulling information out from yourself as opposed to expert knowledge.
