Successful startups don't just survive chaos, they profit from it. The speaker uses Nassim Taleb's concept of antifragility to show how founders can recognize this strength in their business and market it to clients as the advantage in unstable markets.

I find a lot of the best startup businesses are antifragile, especially in the startup phase. These are businesses that profit from chaos. These are businesses that are unstable and they profit from being unstable. In fact, their market is unstable. They would not succeed in another market that was more stable, more mature, or whatever. That is the essence of the idea of antifragility by Nassim Taleb. He has this idea that there are some things that profit from being stable, some things that are robust, they can survive instance of instability. And there's some things that are what he calls antifragile, where if they stand still or if they're in any stable environment, they will fail. I find that is true for a lot of startups and probably true for your company as I might be talking about it right now. If that's the case, you might want to ask, like, how is it you are unstable? How is it that you profit from instability? And then that becomes a thing you can sell to your clients. You can tell your clients about how their environment is unstable, and that's the reason they want to be working with you. They don't want to work with you because you're the safe choice in peacetime, but because it's war.
