In this solo presentation, Rene Deceuninck, founder of The Body Language Company, outlines a practical, seven‑step framework for anyone who wants to appear more attractive and engaging on camera. He begins by establishing his credibility through decades of experience and collaborations with well‑known speakers. He then walks through each step: (1) Light – use natural daylight or ring/square lights positioned on both sides to avoid glare; (2) Background – keep the space tidy, avoid clutter, and optionally use a green or curtain backdrop; (3) Notify – inform household members of recording times to prevent interruptions; (4) Pay Attention – stay fully focused, avoid multitasking, and mute/turn off video if you must step away; (5) Body Language – emphasize facial expressions, eye contact with the camera, mirroring, and proper framing so the viewer sees the upper body; (6) Appearance – dress neutrally and professionally, avoid over‑the‑top makeup or mismatched attire; (7) Technical – use a good microphone, stable mounting for the device, enable HD and skin‑enhancement settings. Throughout, he links each tip to the psychological impact on viewers, citing micro‑expressions and subconscious data transmission. The video ends with a call‑to‑action inviting viewers to purchase a full training program.

Question: would you follow you? And if so, the next 7 steps will only make it 10 times better. And if not, let's get started on your amazing new journey becoming camera attractive. So when people see you, are you a warning or an invitation? Are you a ghost in disguise or a magnet for success? Welcome. I'm Rene Deceuninck from The Body Language Company in London, UK. And for the last 26 years, I've been studying and teaching at the same time. I shared stages with Brian Tracy, with Jerry Robbins, Jack Canfield, and many other influential speakers all over the world. Pre-COVID, I also used to host preview sessions for Tony Robbins UPW event. Now that being said, in this video I will share the 7 steps to become an online personality attracting people toward you instead of pushing them away. Number 1: Light. Sit in front of a window facing natural daylight, not the other way around. You can use a ring light, and if possible too, one on your left and one on your right, in order for the ring light not to reflect in your eyes or your glasses. Or you can use slightly larger square lights on a tripod, again one on the left, one on the right, in order to have an optimal result. Number 2: background. Now avoid kids running around, mirrors and laundry laying around, Make sure the background is neat and tidy. The use of a virtual background is not always the best choice. However, the best result with a virtual background is having a real green background, better known as a green backdrop. These two tripods are connected through a long bar on top, and you can attach a green backdrop or any other backdrop. Even a nice curtain would do the job. Number 3. Notify. Notify other people in the office or in your house that you'll be in an online meeting or recording. Now notify your kids with a time slot, and that way they have an idea when it's safe again to run around. Number 4, pay attention. While being online, never get distracted by checking your emails, browsing to websites, looking on your phone, start eating. You're in fact saying to the viewer, I'm not interested because you're not 100% engaging. Now, if you really urgently have to do something, example, going to the bathroom, close your video and mute your mic. Number 5, body language. The most important part that will appear on the screen is your face. Your facial expressions will have an influence on the conscious and subconscious mind of the other person Watching you. There are over 264,000 microexpressions. However, the 7 basic ones are smile, happiness, contempt, disgust, anger, surprise, and sadness. Did you know that you're sending out 40 bits of data per second from conscious to conscious mind? These are the things that are happening in the moment. However, did you know that you are sending out 40 million bits of data per second from subconscious to subconscious mind, which is the nonverbal communication? In other words, the tone of voice, and body language. Now the feedback, reaction, or reply from viewers will be based on what you send out. Does that make sense? Example, you did send out a message including facial expressions and some hand gestures. This information will be processed in the brain of the other person and will come back to you. That's why it's been said that the outside world is in fact a reflection of yourself. Now concerning your eyes, make sure to look into the camera and not to the screen. When looking into the camera, you're making eye contact with the one watching you. Now there are two important things to remember: eye contact and leveling. Be on the same frequency. It's called mirror matching. Make sure to sit right up or stand up that the camera is at the height of the eyes. And last but not least, make sure people can see you from the center of your body and up. That way you can use your hands to better accentuate certain things and make optimal use of your body language. Number 6: Appearance. Pay attention to what you wear. Keep it neutral and businesslike if possible. I saw situations where a guy was in a suit. However, the mirror behind him showed that the lower part was in his pajamas. So watch out! Now, do not exaggerate, ladies, with makeup, jewelry. However, don't have that Monday morning, it's not my day look neither. Number 7: Technical. Make sure to use the correct light. Use a microphone or clip-on mic. Most video settings will allow you to enhance your skin appearance as well and enable HD. A stable table or surface for your phone or laptop is not a luxury. When your device is constantly moving, people get seasick. And a backdrop, as explained earlier, is an amazing thing to have as well. So do you remember my questions earlier on? When people see you, are you a warning or an invitation? Are you a ghost in disguise or a magnet for success? Remember, number 1: light. 2, background, 3, notify people, 4, pay attention, 5, body language, 6, appearance, and 7, technical features, features, sorry. So just do it and be you.
