Bluetooth Persistent of Vision (POV) - Course Project @NYCCT, Spring14

Richard Li built a spinning LED display controlled by Arduino and Bluetooth. A motor rotates LEDs fast enough to show letters and symbols, while a proximity sensor stops it when someone gets close. You send characters from a phone or tablet over serial.

These LEDs will be rotated by the motor in a quickly fashion and the LEDs will be displaying different LEDs will display at different times as the motor rotates. And your eyes will see an image or a letter as it rotates. We have the LED LEDs and the Bluetooth connected to the board. And the board's connected using a 9 volt battery. And then we have up here the sensor for if somebody wants to touch it, they get too close, it will send a signal to the Arduino Uno in here and turn the motor off. And once you move, it'll turn back on displaying whatever is displaying. And you can use a tablet or phone and you press a letter or character and they'll start displaying as you see the LED started flashing and it'll display whatever you type here, turn it on. As you see right now it's displaying the letter D. And we can go through the whole Alphabet from A to B, C, Z, even a question mark. Yeah. And then once you try to get close, it shuts off, it'll start spinning again. So yeah, it just really displays whatever you want. Where's the circle? Huh? The circle. The circle is actually the circuit with the mega and the LEDs being rotated by the motor which just. And the LEDs are being lit up. And like from here you can just type, let's say a. You'll see a capital A or a capital or a D. Lower case, you see the lowercase d or W. You see a W or a character as question mark that I've done. So you can see the question mark. So it could really be any character on the keyboard that you would like to display. About two words. Yeah, you have multiple characters. Not really because it's serial communication, which means one by one. So it would be. Yeah, I also put it to do a Greek letter. It doesn't have to be English, that is 5, the Greek letter. So yeah, it could actually display anything you really wanted to as long as it's programmed that way.
