Richmond Dinh (YouTube) reflects on encountering persistent negativity and bullying throughout his schooling and early career. He contrasts two responses—cutting negative people out versus focusing on self-improvement—and recommends investing time and energy into becoming "bigger, better and stronger," closing with a Jim Rohn quote: "Don't wish it was better. Wish you were better."

How do you deal with negative people? Do you cut them out like cancer, or do you try to help them? Now, here's the truth about life. In life, there will always be negative people. There will always be complainers. There will always be people who don't believe in you, and there will always be people who try to bring you down. Now, if you haven't realized, I come from an Asian background and I grew up in a Western society.
So throughout my entire schooling life, I received bullying almost every day. And when I made it through optometry, I was regarded as that person that wasn't the studious type. Facebook lives and doing big seminars, there.
Have been so many, so many people who have not believed in my journey and so many people that wanted to bring me down. You see, here's the bad news about success. The more successful you become, the more you encounter people who try to bring you down. But you know what? You have a choice. You have a decision. You can either spend all your time, your focus, your effort and your energy into removing negative people and trying to cut them out like cancer, or you. You can spend all your focus, your time, your effort and your energy into becoming better, bigger and stronger. And I don't know about you, but for me, I believe that time is your most precious resource. It's the one thing that you can never, ever get back. And I can assure you that if you spend all your time, your focus, your effort and your energy into becoming bigger, better and stronger, not only will you grow faster, you will become a better leader and you will become more successful. Successful.
As the late Jim Rohn said, don't wish it was better. Wish you were better.
