Whatever decision you make, just trust yourself.
From being a primary school teacher making $24,000 a year to now almost $300,000 a year as a full time coach. But here's something that you don't know. I'm here with Katie, Goddamn, one of my point one clients and awesome human being who is here to share with us on the truth about running a successful coaching business and what people don't see, and more importantly, how you can overcome those challenges as well. So, hey, Katie, appreciate your time.
My pleasure, my pleasure. Thanks for having me, Richmond.
You're welcome. So I'm going to. I think this might be a valuable conversation for everyone watching here because they see the great results and if anyone's been following my page, they'll say every, every two weeks I'll post a new six figure coach in our program. And that sounds all rosy and sounds all glamorous, but I just want to reveal the truth of how much work is involved to get there, first of all. And then secondly, was it worth it? Was it worth it? So, Katie, let's start with the challenges and the truth of the amount of work you had to put in to get to where you're right now. And then we'll go to the second question about whether it was worth it or not.
Yeah, absolutely. Sure. So the amount of work that goes in it. You know, I started out where I was teaching and doing some work after hours. You know, being a primary school teacher, there was a lot of work that you had to take home and you'd have to do in between and you're doing school holidays and all these sort of things. And when it came to my coaching business, I thought, ah, I'm already doing work after hours. It's all good, it'll be fine, it'll be easy. And along the journey I realized how much work was actually entailed in becoming a coach. And not only becoming a coach, but hitting the multiple six figures. Because it can seem like it's all, like you said, roses on the outside, but when it comes down to the truth, there are sacrifices that we need to make now for the return of later. And so what do you get later on for the sacrifices you make now? And so for me along the journey, not only the coaching part, but where I stepped into studying, that was the first sacrifice for me having to come along. And I spent a lot of time learning nlp. And so the hours and the time I was studying until 11 o' clock at night because I was still working as a teacher when I went Away and studied in to be master practitioner. I spent 13 days away from my family studying during the nighttime when waking up early to get it done. And then I went to trainers training and there I spent 23 days away from my kids in Sydney. I missed both of their birthdays and I spent countless hours still working to create my business behind the scenes while I was going. And so the sacrifice of that having to move forward, I had no idea when I first started to now still, still spending so many hours behind the scenes Weekends, like we get up for our calls, you know, we have our calls on weekends, we do trainings on weekends. I deliver my content on the weekends or in evenings or like this morning I was up at 6am coaching. And so when it comes to us building our coaching business is sometimes we step beyond the boundaries of what we originally think. If we're moving from being a full time 9 to 5 professional into coaching, there's a lot more that goes on behind the scenes than what you actually see front to front. So it's incredibly profound.
It is, it is. And you are one of the hardest workers I know.
And I know it's hard especially for a mom to miss, to miss their kids birthdays, especially for you too and being a school teacher. So if a coach is watching this right now, they're probably thinking, well, why should I even do this? Like I'm not going to sign up for this. I'd rather, I'd rather work 30, 40 hours a week in this job here because it's safe, it's secure. Then why would I go into this entrepreneurial space?
Oh yeah, why? Oh, it's the rewarding side of it. Right. So my mission is to help people who help people and to be the mirror of their magnificence. Right. So the reason behind why I do this is far greater and outweighs everything that it takes to put in. So when I get to see, I was sharing this with you earlier. When I get to see my clients faces and the elation in them, the satisfaction, the joy, the gratitude, the love of their business again, their passion coming to life, when I get to see that, when I get to see people transform their lives, time doesn't matter, the sacrifices don't matter. When I see the way my boys now interact with me and with others, it's all worth it. When I look at how people are growing their business and how they're growing their mindset, they're changing and transforming not only their lives, but the lives of those that are behind them.
That for me is so rewarding. It's more of a fact of how much do you want to transform people's lives? And I know that I was here for a reason, that the reason that I've gone through what I've gone through in my life and is to be able to help others transform theirs. And so for me, I'm absolutely fulfilled in doing that.
I can tell. I can tell. So just in case you're wondering, guys, Katie helps coaches and experts unpack their IP into models so they can actually deliver world class trainings for their clients. And so.
Katie, I'm just kind of curious as, as to how do you maintain focus on the future? How do they keep the end in mind so you can get the goal, get the prize?
Yeah, great question. Oh, I love this one. One of the key factors is having those around you that are gonna support you to move you forward. Those people who are around you who are gonna love your crazy ideas or help you maneuver through when it is challenging and maybe you haven't quite made that, haven't kicked past that 10k mark, is to have those people with you who help remind you of your vision and help you move towards it. Because it's, it's a lonely journey, you know, and if you've got this vision and there's no one there to support you with it, sometimes that light blink. Blinkers, right? And it starts to fade. Whereas if you've got others around you to be able to support you with that and you keep that vision, you keep reminding yourself of that vision daily, day after day after day. When it's tough, remind yourself that day after day after day, then that helps you stay on the right trajectory. It helps you. Doesn't matter what happens along the way, what kinks and bends and curves and turns happen, that you know right now that you're in the right place and that you're moving towards that vision. Because that's what it's about.
Very cool. Do you have a vision board? Are you into vision boards?
I don't have a vision board, but what I do have, what I do have is called a mind movie. What it is, is I use imovie on my phone and I've got images of what I want and then I put words to what I want that match it. And then I put music over the top. And so I watch that every morning and every night.
Oh, shit. That is. That is awesome. I don't know, guys. If you, if you, if you want to see Katie's mind movie, just, just drop in Mind movie. Down below the comment section and Maybe we'll get 20 people to type in that below. She might, she might post a link for you. Maybe 20. 20. Probably 30. What do you reckon, Katie?
200. Let's see how many we can.
All right, if we get 200 comments on mind Movie below, then Katie's gonna drop down her mind movie and you're gonna see some really, really explicit stuff about her mind and some crazy stuff that goes on in here. So I guess what I wanna know is tell us about the Katie now compared to the Katie two years ago. Because business is as much of a personal development game and a spiritual game as it is a game to win in terms of cash flow and getting clients and all those kind of things. So.
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. I had this conversation. I've had it a number of times over the last two years since starting with point one. And you know, I was one of these people that jumped straight in, right? I was one of these people that just jumped straight in. I knew that's what I wanted. But my identity at the time, who I was at the time, is very different to who I am today. And you're exactly right. That personal growth journey for me has been phenomenal. So I very much am a country girl. I came originally from a country town of two and a half thousand people. I grew up on a property where my dad is a cattle farmer and lucent producer. And so I grew up very much sitting in the cattle shed, growing, cracking a whip, riding motorbikes, horses, tractors. And when it came for me moving into becoming a teacher, it was quite an easy transition. But moving from teacher to coach was a massive step for me. And that was one of the biggest hurdles that I had to come overcome to start with was this step between, okay, well, here's Katie Godden who is a country girl and a teacher and then stepping into this coach role. And so for me, the journey has been a lot of ups and downs. There's been a lot of moments where there's been self down, like, I'm just a country girl, I'm this, I'm that, I'm the other and moving through. But to go from where I was earning quite minimal as a coach to earning almost 300k in sales in the last 12 months.
I have become more congruent, more certain in myself and who I am and the ability to actually stand up and speak.
So whether that be standing up and speaking, not necessarily on the front of being a public speaker, I've done that my whole life, but in the fact of standing up for what's the truth and the depth of me and believing far beyond me that this is even possible.
So for me, when I first started to think that I could even get that far in five years, you know, let alone getting there in just two years, I've earned over that.
So.
That journey has been incredible, Absolutely incredible. And you know, like we say all the time, there's new growth, new growth, new growth, and.
The 0.1 community. And you know, my friends and my husband are very supportive. And when I come to those brick walls of identity and who am I in that journey? It's about facing it and fearlessly walking through, facing it, no matter how uncomfortable it is. Like, you know, we've had uncomfortable conversations, right, where I felt rattled and I'm like, I'm not sure about this, but I've pushed through and I've faced those fears and I've just done it anyway.
That's huge, Katie. So I think this might be a good opportunity to end on this question. If.
You were to go back into teaching, that's just hypothetical. Hypothetical, right. And you're teaching, I don't know, just call it grade six. You're going to part some wisdom into them that you didn't have two years ago before you started this journey as a coach, as an entrepreneur. What kind of wisdom would you give to a person in grade 6? Like an 11 year old child right now?
Oh my gosh. Do you know what's hilarious, Richmond? Is that my son next week turns 12, he's in year six. And so this is something I think about all the time. I think about it all the time. Like if I could impart any wisdom with him that he could use moving forward, and it was just to fucking trust himself to the utmost. Make whatever decision you make, just trust yourself. Just trust yourself and know that this is moving you towards whatever your goal is. Because there's so many times in the education system in kids that they just don't know how to trust themselves at such a young age. And I, here I am, 39, just starting to trust myself. And so for me, if I can, if I can impart that wisdom, that knowledge, like if I could, if I could wrap it up and gift it to him, that it would just implant in every cell in his body.
Man, any year six kid, any year five kid, any kid, full stop, is just to trust themselves and get what they're after. Don't wait, just go for it.
What a way to end. And by the way, guys, if you're watching that year six kid is a metaphor for you. For each and every one of you. Whether you're 11, 12, 39, 60, 70. It doesn't matter. So, hey, Katie, really appreciate you again. What a way to end. Guys, remember, keep believing and never settle.
It.
