Simon Pilon Delivers some gold nuggets and ninja tactics from the lessons he learned

Simon Pilon went from $50 in the bank to $350,000 in 17 months after the Point One coaching program. He credits simple strategies, disciplined execution, and ditching ego. He learned to surrender to the process and stay one step ahead of clients while staying relatable.

That first month for me was $11,000.
From having $50 in your bank account.
No paying clients, starting out your coaching business. And that was around about 17 months ago. 17 months ago in around about March 2020, when the world got shut down, to now 17 months later from 0 to over 300k. Would that be correct? Actually, correct me, how much have you made since we started working together?
Yes, that's correct. Since we started working together, I've made around close to 350. Right now I'm at 345, I think. Or something like this, to be exact.
Yeah, that is huge. So, guys, I've got Simon Parlin here with me today to share with you his journey and more importantly, how can it relate to you and how can you extract some nuggets from this conversation we're having? You can grow your coaching business, too. So Simon is a graduate, actually, he's about to graduate from our point one program. And like I said, literally from $50 in his bank account, not knowing how he's going to pay the next week's bills, to now $350,000 in his bank account, more cash than he's ever had in his life, doesn't know what to do with it. Simon, I might start with a conversation around this. So you joined my program because, like most coaches, I need the strategy. I need the strategy and we give you strategies and you implement it like a boss to the T. I dare say there was probably other challenges that you didn't see.
Oh, yes. When I started. Exactly like you mentioned, I'm someone that when I get like the right strategies, the right thing, I'm not. I think a lot of people, what they do sometimes when they start a new program and they start something, especially they question every step of the process.
Right.
Why should I do this? Why should I make it this way? And for the first time ever, I think I decided to turn off that tap and be like, hey, you know what? That person is doing exactly what I want to accomplish. So why not just follow the process as if it's my guideline that I need to stick to a university degree, whatever it is, to make my coaching business works right? But there's some things, of course, that you don't see. Even if you have the right strategies, even if you have the right things in place, once you implement them and you run for it, yes, you see great results. But sometimes there's one thing that always catch you and it's your ego and it's your own person, because sometimes you're starting to have results. You're starting to have all these things, and then your mindset is not on point with your growth.
Right.
Because I think for myself and for a lot of people, growing your mindset is as important as growing your strategies. Because if you have a lot of strategies, you have high level of, like, content, high level of clients, high level of business, but your mindset is not on point, then it's a recipe for failure.
Right.
It's a bit like building a skyscraper without a strong foundation, as you can say.
Right.
That makes sense.
Agree, man. Let's talk about ego. I love how you mentioned ego and.
Ego and also surrendering to the process. Just saying, you know what? I'm just going to follow blindly and just do it and not question the steps, which takes A, removing ego, and B, a huge amount of trust in yourself and also in me.
Yes.
So how do you get rid of ego? Because it's a strong thing.
I think it's impossible to get rid of ego 100%. You'll agree with me, we always have it. It's always on the back door. But for me, in that process, I was like, you mentioned at a point in my life that I tried so many things online. I had the knowledge, I had some things that I knew it worked, partnered up with the wrong people. And now I finally found something that was aligned with my values, that was aligning with where I wanted to go. And also the process seemed streamlined and easy because I think simplicity is the key in everything that we do. And the process that you teach and that I've learned from you is very simple and it work. So therefore, my ego kicked in a bit at the beginning because it's like, oh, I know more on Facebook. I know all these things. You know, it starts to kick in. But I'm like, you know what? How about I leverage what I've been shown and been teach right now or coached on and I add up to what I know already instead of comparing and be like, oh, I know more than this. I should not learn this. I think a lot of people sometimes think they know more than what they're learning, but it's all in their head because there's always room for improvement. And the more you learn, the more you can amalgamate and, like, put all these things together to really create something next level. So for me, it was about turning off that little voice in my head and be like, you know what? Let's do that learning curve. Let's implement everything. Let's put it streamline and then add up with what I already knew instead of comparing or like putting it in my head as like, oh, I know this already. I should not learn this. Right? I think that was one of the biggest things for me that kind of silenced my ego at that part. And then it showed up in instant results for me. Like, it was very, very quick because when I jumped into your passion to profit like program, like, I crushed it in six days. That's what I did. Because I was in lockdown, I was in Canada, I was like, I have nothing else to do. So I binge watched it like it was Netflix for some people. And I just like implemented right away. Implemented right away. And that first month for me was $11,000. So after I started doing that.
So yeah, that's huge, man. 11K, first week, binge, like Netflix. I love that dude. I love that dude. And actually your story reminds me of, because you came in, you already had a well versed knowledge of Facebook, of the algorithm, of some sort of lead gen, and you remind me of Kobe Bryant's story, actually.
Kobe Bryant was addicted to mastery. Even though he knew a lot, he always came to his coach. And I'm not sure if I shared it with you guys or even the P1s. He always asks his coach, what do I need to do to be 0.001% better?
He was looking for that edge, and that's the mindset of a winner. And so even though you knew the stuff already, but you came with a mindset. And maybe you didn't see this way, but this is how I see you, is you came in the mindset of what do I need to learn? That's 0.001% better. Because it's those 0.01%. This is why we call our program Point One, right?
That's the winner mentality. They're not 10 times better. They're just looking for that edge to be better. So on that note, dude, you just remind me of that story. It's a truth though. It is a truth for you. And that's about releasing your ego, saying, you know what?
I don't know it all. And even if I wanted to know it all, I don't need to know that much. Is that how you approach business and life generally? Or has it always been like that?
For many years, I was not like this. I was lost in other things. But since I started doing business and everything, I've always tried to move forward towards my goal without actually putting myself in resistance towards it by telling myself every day I'm not there yet. So therefore I'm always trying to think about the present moment. What can I do today that will get me closer to this? Because no one can jump on top of a mountain unless you have a helicopter. But you need to do those little steps and enjoy the journey along the way. So for me, it's always been about this mentality. For me, take those small little steps knowing that you will reach that goal, even if you can't feel it, even if you can touch it, but knowing that these small little daily steps will get you there. And it makes me think about something that you mentioned that really stuck with me over our journey together. It was about like, you don't need to be 100 miles or 100 kilometers ahead of your clients and everything. You just need to be one step ahead. So my goal consistently is to always learn more than my clients, but not to be too far from them so they can still relate, but to be one step ahead of them and one step ahead of the game all the time. So I think it's really, really important that people understand this part because sometimes we try to like sit down, we do a course for six months and we don't implement anything. But therefore you're wasting six months of things that you could have implemented instead of waiting for all of it and then just putting it all together at the end of six months, if it makes sense.
Makes sense, man. That's actually one of the one things I love most about you is the way you've been a role model to our community. Because I forget sometimes of how far ahead I can be compared to a new coach because I've been doing this for a long time. But for you to help out current point ones and bridge that gap is really awesome to see. And that's what I'm most grateful for, men. Because sometimes I just give very direct advice, but the advice is five steps ahead and I have the belief they can get there. But sometimes they need that advice from people like you. No, just do this next thing. That bridge. So awesome, man. Hey, on a side topic, as you're talking, I'm thinking, you know, hey, Simon is a young, good looking man.
He's got, he's cashed out, he's successful. Women who are watching this are probably thinking.
Where are we at?
Where are we at?
Life is amazing. And so far, like I've been like single for the last two years and a half and it's been a great journey. A lot of introspection for me in the last two years, working on Myself, because I think in order to really with business, same thing, right? In order to really take it next level or be with someone, you really need to know yourself first. I think love comes from inside because a lot of people think sometimes it comes from other people. They try to get love from other people, but they don't know how to love themselves first. So for me, it was a big journey like this and still contemplating all these things and moving forward. We'll see what happens, right? We'll see if love finds me. If it does, then that's amazing. And then we'll see where it goes from here.
That's awesome, man. On that note, I think it might be a good opportunity to finish up on this question.
Most people don't realize that being an entrepreneur, being a business owner, is the toughest personal development program there is, but it's the best one. And so despite the amount of success you've had, what's been the personal reward for you over that journey?
Wow, really good question.
The personal reward for me is when I look back to the day when I couldn't pay that cab with $50 and I told myself that day I never want to feel like that ever again.
Was by aligning myself with the people around you. I think the people that I surrounded myself with over the last 17, 15, 16, whatever months has made the biggest difference for me. And the personal reward from that, it was that by being with people that play at such a high level, it raised my own game as well. To break the glass ceiling on things that I would never thought possible. I remember when I started let's make 10k months and it was a big thing for me. I've never done that before, but I've done it but like nothing consistently. And then after that it was like, okay, what's next? Making 100k in less than 100 days. Okay, what's next?
Right?
And for me, it's the continuous growth while being surrounded with people that are on the same path as you. I think is the biggest reward that I got on this journey with you, with point one, with everything, was to really tap in my full potential. That I know is there's so much more to tap into as well. But at this stage in my life where I'm at personally, emotionally, health wise and everything, I decided to do a drastic change the second I decided to commit to myself towards business. Then I work on my health, I work on all these things, go to the gym. I've never done that in like 34 years before of my life. So it's been a really rewarding. There's so many things I could mention but the biggest one of them, it was like to get to know myself in the business way that got to make me discover myself personally and internally so I could match my business level to take it to that million dollar business, to take it to this next level. Because this is what it's all about, right?
That's huge. Guys, if you're watching this, please type in in the comment section below on what was most valuable for you. What's the key takeaway for you? Cause I trust that maybe you wrote down notes on every single sentence he just said. There's and you guys maybe haven't seen Simon's journey yet. If you saw him 17 months ago just from a physical appearance, he was almost 10 kilos less like ridiculous, right? And didn't exude the confidence that he has right now and the self assurance that he has right now. So I appreciate you Simon, really do. And also if you're watching this and you got value of this, hey, don't be afraid to shoot Simon. A message to thank him as well because I'll tag him in this post here. And dude, again really appreciate you. Really proud of your progress. You're just incredible, man.
Thank you so much for this time. Thank you for everyone that watched as well. I hope it inspired you whichever step you are in the journey, right? If you're starting, if you're advanced, if you're going somewhere, the one thing I could say to end this is like there's no one else that's going to.
Do it except you.
So believe in yourself enough to make it happen because no one's coming to save you.
What a way to end. Guys, keep believing, never settle and I'll see you guys on the inside.
