Richmond Dinh argues that spending $100,000 to learn high-income sales or marketing skills beats buying a $500,000 property. A property might double twice in 20 years for $1.5 million in gains. Those skills could earn an extra $1 million per year, totaling $20 million over the same period.

You could buy a $500,000 property now and if it goes up every 10 years, on average it doubles. So in 10 years, that $500,000 property will be $1 million. In another 10 years, it'll be worth $2 million. It's at 20 years, your $500K investment is worth $1.5 million extra. And if it's cash flow positive, then you're lucky, but most of the time it's not. Now, if you— and to buy a $500,000 property, you need to put down $100 grand for that, at least. And so I'd rather put down $100 grand in learning a skill set such as learning how to sell or market and that $100 grand that I put down now will allow me to make an extra million dollars a year every year. 100%. And that's $20 million. Do the math. $20 million or $1.5 mil? Like, I'd rather $20 million.
