Why I Stopped Making Big Promises..

Richmond Dinh stopped hyping unrealistic outcomes in his masterclasses and doubled enrollments instead. He promised six figures instead of millions, a solid living instead of passive income, and quick audience growth instead of viral fame. The contrarian move: honest expectations cut through noise and build trust.

My conversions literally doubled the last time I ran a masterclass when I told the students there that they were not going to get to $1 million running tiny challenges. Even though we had 2 students in P1 got to $1 million running tiny challenges, I said at the beginning of the masterclass, now will you get to $1 million doing this? Very unlikely, probably not. Can you get to 6 figures? For sure. And I realized the reason why it doubled was because the market's so jaded and everyone's overpromising. And for the first time, I was maybe that guy that didn't overpromise and actually underpromised and said something super realistic. So I thought I'll try it again. So in my course creation masterclass, I open up the call saying, now, will you make money in your sleep and passive income selling courses? Even though we do that now, and I know some people that do it, but it's very unlikely. And then I pre-frame that by saying, can you make a good living selling courses online? 100%. And that, we doubled our conversions again. And so I did it the third time in our personal branding one. And so the personal branding masterclass, I open up saying, will you blow up overnight? Will you get a million followers overnight? Will you go viral overnight? Now I've got friends that have grown their following from basically zero to a million followers in about a year, which is crazy. And we've got some students that really blow up online, but I said that that's very unrealistic. What's more realistic is that you can get the right people liking your stuff in a very short amount of time, and our conversions went through the roof as well. And so here's the big lesson here. Right now, I think the biggest point of difference in marketing is that when you don't overpromise, but you become super realistic with what's actually possible, because you'll become the contrarian when everyone else is out there is overpromising and telling all these things that can happen when the reality is it's probably not. And so that is what I realized that's gonna cut through the noise right now.
