In this solo episode of the Stand Sure Podcast, host Rob Anderson addresses a pervasive but silent crisis affecting men aged 33‑65 who have achieved conventional markers of success—career advancement, family provision, material assets—yet feel a deep sense of emptiness. Drawing on his three‑chapter life story (military leadership, corporate learning & development, and now coaching men through life transitions), Rob frames this condition as an "identity awakening" rather than a mid‑life crisis. He outlines three concrete strategies to break the corporate rut and regain personal drive: (1) audit your calendar for autonomy, carving out non‑negotiable time for physical challenges, reflection, or skill mastery; (2) redefine your targets by identifying core values and a personal legacy, shifting focus from external achievements to internal fulfillment, illustrated with a recurring journal quote about asking what brings your heart back to life; (3) expand your perimeter by deliberately introducing controlled adversity—physical fitness, grueling events, learning new skills, or entering environments where you’re not the expert—to rekindle masculine strength. Rob concludes with a direct call‑to‑action, inviting listeners to book a free discovery coaching call via his website to develop a customized "Second Half Playbook". The episode blends personal narrative, motivational coaching, and actionable advice aimed at helping men transition from managing routine to living on a mission.

I'm your host of the Stand Sure Podcast. Hey, my journey has been defined by 3 distinct chapters. Chapter 1 began with my time in the military, where I learned the true meaning of leadership and resilience in some of the most high-pressure environments. Then on to Chapter 2, I transitioned into corporate America, serving as a learning and development professional and leadership coach for Fortune 500 companies. Now, I'm in my third chapter dedicated to helping men navigate their own transitions, rediscover their purpose, and find what it means to lead with conviction in their second half of life. Hey, today we are tracking a quiet crisis that hits thousands of men Between 33 and 65 years of age. Maybe this is you. You built a career, you provided for the family, you checked every single box that society's told you to check. So why does it still— it still feels like something massive is missing? So in this episode, we're going to expose the corporate rut, redefine what What real victory looks like and give you the blueprint to get your edge back. So I want you to stick around and please stick around till— until the end because I'm going to share an exclusive opportunity for us to work together directly and build a customized battle plan just for your life. Hey, let's be honest. Let's be real honest about where you are. You look successful on paper. Maybe you've got a title. Maybe you got the house, the family, the respect of your peers. But when you look in the mirror, you realize that you become a manager of routine rather than a man on a mission. Man, just those words, man on a mission. And what's happened? And I know this. I know this so well. You traded your passion for being predictable. You spent so many years focusing on what you do that you forgot who you are. And brother, let me tell you what, this isn't a midlife crisis. It's an awakening. It's actually an identity awakening. The tools that got you to this point The grit, the hiding and bearing of your emotions, working longer hours. Those are the things. Those are the tools that are keeping you stuck right now. You know, for so long you felt like you were in a groove, right? And now it just kind of feels like a rut. To break out of this cage and reclaim that drive that you have, you need a shift in strategy. So right now, I'm gonna give you 3 hot tips that you can implement starting right now, starting today. It's all up to you. It's either day 1 or it's 1 day. That's all up to you. But I'm gonna give you the tips. Number 1. Open up Google Outlook, iCal, whatever, right? Audit your calendar for autonomy. I want you to go in and look at your schedule over the last 2 weeks. And if every single hour is dedicated to answering someone else's demands, your boss, your clients, your vendors, maybe even Things that you have to do around the house, the honey-dos, the errands. Brother, you're living as a passenger in your own life. You are a— you're another cog in the wheel of your calendar. You got to find a way to schedule uncompromised Non-negotiable time for your own physical challenge. Or maybe set up time for reflection. Or maybe carve out, carve out a few hours for skill mastery. Because I'm gonna tell you straight up, if you don't own at least 3 hours of your week that's dedicated to your own growth, then your calendar, your routine, Is owning you. Tip number 2, you got to redefine the target. Because for the last, I don't know, in some cases 20, 30 years, maybe it's not that extreme, maybe it's only 10 years, but your target was external. Climbing the ladder, hitting financial milestones, securing assets. And maybe you hit it, right? Or maybe you're real close to hitting it. Maybe that target's drifted a little bit, but you're still after that target. And what's happened is eventually the adrenaline wears off. And one of the ways that you solve that is that you got to have an internal target. And the way you start that is take a look. What are your core convictions? What are your values? What kind of legacy do you want to leave as a husband, as a leader, as a father? What do you want people to see every time you walk into a room? I heard this quote from John Eldredge. And it winds up in every single journal that I have. I've got multiple journals. I've been journaling for 30-plus years. And since 2003, these words have gone in that journal. And it says this: stop asking the world— or let me rephrase that— stop asking what the world needs from you and start asking what brings your heart back to life. That may not be the exact quote. I'm going off the top of my head here, but it's pretty darn close. Stop asking what the world needs from you and start asking what brings your heart back to life. If you're not journaling just on a piece of paper or putting it into your Google Notes or a notes page or something, right? But I want you to write down 3 core values that have nothing to do with your job description. 3 core values that have nothing to do with your job description and start filtering your daily decisions through those. Tip number 3, expand your perimeter. You see, true masculine strength Thrives on challenge and not comfort. Straight up, if you haven't done something that pushed you outside of your comfort zone in the last 6 months, you're stagnating. If you haven't done something in the past 6 months that's pushing you out of that comfort zone, you're stagnating. What are some things that you can do? If you're not into physical fitness or you're not physically fit, start taking a physical fitness class. Take swim lessons. Sign up for a grueling event. Even if you are the guy who's working out. Or semi-working out. Sign up for a grueling event. Learn a new skill. Step into a room where you're not the smartest or the most successful guy there. You need to reintroduce controlled adversity into your life to remember what it feels like to conquer something new. Hey, husbands, I'm gonna talk to you very, very frank here for a second. Why do a lot of husbands fail at marriages through affairs? Because a lot of guys feel like they need that conquest. You need to reintroduce controlled Emphasis on controlled adversity into your life to remember what it feels like to conquer something new. Grueling events, taking classes, something that's going to push you outside your comfort zone. Hey, if you're listening to this right now and you know that these tips alone are not going to be enough, And if you're ready to stop drifting and start driving, brother, it's time to go deeper.
