In this solo podcast episode, host Rob Anderson (Stan Shure) challenges listeners to consider the concept of being an "ambassador"—the message they embody through words, actions, silence, and everyday interactions. He argues that influence isn’t tied to follower counts; even small, personal encounters can carry powerful messages. Anderson shares a pro‑bono coaching anecdote where a brief session led to unexpected gratitude, illustrating how everyday interactions become opportunities to represent hope, resilience, or other values. He stresses the importance of self‑awareness: once you recognize what you’re representing, you can consciously choose to align it with the person you want to be remembered as. Anderson also reflects on his father’s journey out of an alcoholic home, breaking a generational cycle to become a positive role model, and uses this story to encourage listeners with similar backgrounds to own their scars and wisdom. The episode concludes with a call to action—be a purposeful ambassador, consider what you’re representing, and reach out for coaching support—followed by a standard request to like, share, and subscribe.

Hey, I hope that you are having an absolutely amazing today— an amazing day today. Wow, I can't get my words out there. I hope that you're having an absolutely amazing day today. Welcome back to Stan Shure. I'm having a blast doing this podcast. Now, for those of you who happen to listen to One Dive at a Time, I am going to start recording on that platform again very shortly. I've got some technical bugs I want to work out. But for those of you who don't know, I run a totally separate podcast called One Dive at a Time, and it's about scuba diving. It's about the veteran community. It's about wellness. Anyway, I'm not here to advertise that podcast. But I just know that I'm getting questions about am I still going to continue to do that podcast. The answer is yes. Right now I'm not happy with a lot of the sound that I'm getting out of out of that that gear. I'm using a pod a pod track P four from Zoom. Just got this awkward hiss in it, and so I've recorded a bunch of shows, and now I'm going to go back and re-record them using a different software tool. But anyway, enough of that. Today, I want to challenge you with a question that I really hope it follows you around for the rest of the day and maybe even longer. And the word I'm going to use is ambassador. And I want you to think about what an ambassador really is. An ambassador. You know, an ambassador, an ambassador is responsible for representing, right? And the question is, what are you an ambassador for? Now, I'm not talking about flags or embassies or diplomatic missions. I'm talking about the message that you carry into the world every time you show up, every time you speak, every time you scroll, you post on social media, or you make a response, you reply. And whether we're intentional about it or not, we're representing something. I want you to take a minute And I want you to really sit with that. Take some time to think. What do your words represent? What about your habits? What about your silence? How about your reactions? You don't have to have a million followers to have an influence. Now, this is crazy. I look at my social media pages and they're— the numbers are minuscule. They're, they're tiny, right? I mean, they're really, really small. But what I find is that I get people that comment. I get people that will message me. I'll get people that will share something out. And even though it might be 1 or 2 or 5, they're not huge numbers. I find that I'm influencing. Again, it's a small number. I'm not influencing thousands and thousands of people or tens of thousands of people. But I am having an impact on someone's life, and, and it— that may be in the single digits. You don't have to have a million followers to have influence because you're influencing your kids, you're influencing your friends, you're influencing coworkers, that stranger who overheard your tone in the grocery store. Was it positive? Was it negative? Here's something that's really crazy. The other day, I wound up with a very random coaching session. And after I provided some positive inputs and after I provided some hope, after I provided some patience, I didn't think anything else about it. I figured, you know, it was a free consult. I did it on a pro bono basis. Sunday morning, as I'm walking into my church, there's a guy there who's the greeter, and he was the guy that I met with for the pro bono. And his words to me were, thank you so much. You were so patient. You were so kind. And he just went on and on and on. Now, I'm not doing that. I'm not talking about that for, hey, cool, look at me. I'm telling you about that when he hit me up, I was not in the best of moods. I was really strapped for time. In fact, I told him I even had, hey, we got to hold this to The 30-minute session because I've got a hard stop. And I wound up, wound up working with him as he just shared his life and we, and we looked at some challenges, set some very small goals for him. I totally missed my hard stop. But think about the people you influence. Every interaction is a chance to carry a message. So again, what are you representing? Maybe we're walking around as an ambassador for hope. Maybe this is the role that you're in. Maybe it's a role and you don't even know it. Maybe someone saw you get knocked down last year, and now they're watching not just if you get back up, but how you're getting back up. They're watching for that resilience. They're watching for that grace. They're looking at that quiet strength. That's a message. You know, let's be honest, it works both ways. Sometimes we carry messages we don't intend to. We carry bitterness, we carry cynicism, we carry exhaustion. We snap at the barista. We shut down when we come in from work into our homes. We retreat into our phones and we doom scroll. All that becomes part of the message too. Now look, this is not about guilt. It's about awareness. Because here's the thing, once you become aware of what you're representing— here's the cool part— once you become aware of what you're representing, You get to choose. You get to shift. You get to adjust. You get to realign. So let me ask you, are you representing the kind of person you want to be remembered as? Are you representing the values you say you believe in? Are you representing the future that you're working toward, or are you still just echoing all that past crap that hurt you? Folks, we are walking billboards, and, and not in a marketing kind of way, but in a soul-deep human impact kind of way. And And I believe with everything in me that you've got something worth carrying forward, something worth representing. I watched my dad go through this. So unfortunately, my dad grew up in an alcoholic home. There's a lot of brokenness. There's a lot of bitterness. And he broke that cycle because he wanted to represent something completely different. And because of that, I got a good start in life. Now, I know that there are folks out there, your story's like my dad's, right? Growing up in brokenness. Maybe you grew up in a home where there's addiction. Maybe you grew up in a home where things on the outside looked really fine, but you weren't getting the nurturing that you needed. Or maybe you weren't getting the, you know, especially for young men going And asking the question, do I have what it takes? And not getting that answer. I want you to look at what you're representing. You have come through too much to not own that role. You've got scars. Yeah, but I mean, you've also got stories. And, and from that, you've got wisdom. Not just wounds, you've got wisdom. And the world needs ambassadors just like you. Real people walking with purpose, with courage, and with compassion. So here's your challenge today. I challenge you to carry your message on purpose. Be an ambassador worth watching. Be an ambassador worth following. Be that ambassador that's worth remembering. And if you're not sure what you're representing, maybe today is the day that you decide. And if you need some help understanding that purpose and understanding that message, that's why I coach. I would love to be part of that journey with you. That's all I've got for this episode. Please make sure that you like, share, subscribe, and if you want me on that journey with you, Reach out. Let's get this figured out together. All right, have a blessed day.
