Episode 82: The Transformation Year
7 Aug 2026 · 22 min
In this solo‑host episode of the Stand Sure Podcast, Rob Anderson introduces his flagship offering, the Transformation Year, a 12‑month private one‑on‑one coaching experience built around four core pillars: faith, family, finances, and fitness. He begins by highlighting a common paradox—people have abundant information about self‑improvement but struggle to consistently apply it, leading to stalled growth. Drawing on his three‑chapter background (military leadership, corporate L&D, and personal coaching), Rob explains why transformation, not information, is the key to lasting change. He details each pillar, emphasizing alignment between beliefs and actions, the importance of presence in family life, the role of money as a mirror of priorities, and fitness as a vehicle for discipline and self‑trust. The program’s structure includes bi‑monthly coaching calls, weekly accountability check‑ins, access to a growing Stand Sure learning library, and co‑creation of a personal leadership library. Rob stresses his coaching style—asking uncomfortable questions, uncovering patterns, and fostering accountability rather than prescribing solutions. He positions the year‑long timeline as essential for navigating inevitable setbacks and building resilience. Pricing is $3,000 for the year ($250/month), with a clear call to action directing listeners to www.stanshirescoaching.com to enroll. The episode closes with a challenge to listeners to consider whether they’ll be satisfied if nothing changes in the next year, urging them to invest in themselves and their broader circles.

What if in the next 12 months changed the direction of your life for the next 10 years? Not because you discovered some secret, not because you watched another motivational video, not because you bought another course, downloaded another app, read another book. All that stuff, it just winds up collecting dust. But because for 1 year, For 1 year, you got serious about these 4 areas of your life: your faith, your family, your finances, and your fitness. And most of you already know a lot of what you need to do, and that's not the problem. The, the problem is doing it consistently. And doing it long enough for it to change who you are. And that's what we're going to be talking about today. Hey, welcome to Stand Sure Coaching. My name is Rob Anderson. I'm your host of the Stand Sure Podcast. Hey, my journey has been defined by 3 distinct chapters. Chapter 1 began with my time in the military where I learned the true meaning of leadership and resilience In some of the most high-pressure environments. Then on to chapter 2, I transitioned into corporate America, serving as a learning and development professional and leadership coach for Fortune 500 companies. Now I'm in my third chapter, dedicated to helping men navigate their own transitions, rediscover their purpose, and find what it means to lead with conviction. And Hey, before we really get into this, I want you to stay with me until the end because I've built something here with StandSure Coaching that's specifically around what we're talking about today, and it's called the Transformation Year. It's 12 months of private one-on-one coaching built around your faith, your goals, and your transformation. That's right. Your family, your finances, and your fitness. And at the end of today's episode, I'm gonna tell you exactly what it includes and how you can take that next step. But first, let's talk about why so many of us, we know that we need to change, and yet we still don't change. And here's something that I've become convinced of, not just in coaching, but even within my own private life. You know, 18 months ago, I started a brand new chapter. Not only did I need to rebuild a career, but I needed to rebuild a life. And you and I, we don't have an information problem. Think about it. Do you really need someone to tell you to exercise and that exercise is important? Probably not. Do you know how relationships require Communication. Yeah, you know that. Do you know ignoring your finances, it doesn't improve them? Obviously. Do you know that living without a purpose or being disconnected from what you believe eventually catches up with you? You probably do. So why do intelligent, capable people keep getting stuck? Because knowing and becoming are really 2 completely different things. You know everything there is to know about discipline, and still you can be undisciplined. You can read every relationship book, every book about how to improve your marriage, how to be a better communicator, You can look at every book that's out there and still you communicate like crap with your wife or your significant other or your husband, whoever it is, right? You can understand money and you can understand finances and still you make decisions that you know that aren't helping you. You know exactly what workout you should be doing. And yet you still sit on the couch. Information tells you what to do. You know, for 30 years, I was an instructional designer. I did training delivery. I built online stuff. I know how to provide information. And that's why I had to make the change, is no longer providing information but helping with transformation. You see, information, it tells you what to do. Transformation changes how you show up. And that's why I've built it around those 4 areas. Faith. Faith has to be first. For some, that's a very specific relationship with God. But it also forces us into questions about purpose, values, meaning, and, and even what we actually stand for. Because eventually every one of us has to answer, what am I building my life around? What matters enough that I'm willing to make decisions around it? And here's the harder part. Does the way I'm actually living match what I say that I believe? And oftentimes there's a gap between those 2. And that gap is worth exploring. The second one, family. You can be incredibly successful. You can be at the top of your profession and you're still struggling at home. You can provide financially. And still not be present. You can deeply love your spouse and still communicate poorly. If you got kids, you can love your kids and still give them whatever energy just happens to be left over after everybody else gets the best of you. And family isn't just about what you feel, it's how you show up. And sometimes That means looking at baggage that you're still carrying. Old relationships. Maybe it's a bad divorce in a past life. Things that you learned growing up. Wounds that you have. Resentment. Fear. Broken trust. Patterns that you've carried into a new relationship without even realizing it. You know, you can't change yesterday, but you can start examining Whether yesterday is still making your decisions today. Finances. We all have finances. And I'll tell you straight up, I'm not a financial advisor. Now, I am a Ramsey Certified Coach, but I'm not a financial advisor. And I'm not going to tell you where to invest your money. And that's— if you listen to this podcast long enough, you know that's Not what coaching is about. We're looking at the person making the decisions. What does money mean to you? Is it security? Is it freedom? Is it status? Is it fear? Is it control? We're going to look at things like, you know, what, what are you avoiding? What are you trying to accomplish? Are your financial decisions actually aligned with The life that you say that you want. Because money has a way of revealing priorities. We're also going to look at fitness. And this isn't about turning everybody into an athlete. And I'll tell you straight up, I am not a fitness coach. I'm not a nutritionist. But we're going to explore some of those things. What we are going to do is we're going to look at things about ownership of your own fitness. We're going to explore where your energy is going, healthier habits, discipline, keeping commitments to yourself. I've got somebody that I coach that fitness was one of their priorities. And for the first 3 months of coaching, the only thing that that person would do is just drive to the gym. Then they got to where they would actually walk inside the gym. It took 3 months because of the things that we had to uncover and agreements and goals that they had. And now they're working out. Healthier habits, discipline, keeping commitments. There's something important that happens when you tell yourself, I'm gonna do this, and then you do it. You start rebuilding that trust with yourself. And, you know, the opposite happens when you make promises after promises after promises to yourself, and then you break them. And eventually you stop believing in yourself. And then the couch becomes the easy out. Not going because you're tired. It's too early. It's too late. We're going to talk about that. And if you are working out, that's awesome. We're going to see where else that you can go with it. Fitness gives us an opportunity to work on something bigger than just your body. We work on follow-through. So why is it 12 months? And this is exactly why I didn't build this as just one other 30-day challenge or a 6-week challenge or even a 90-day challenge. It's because anybody can get motivated for just a few weeks. And we've all done it. You go out, you buy new running shoes, you start a new diet, you read books like 95 Hard, you get a fitness planner, you get a finance— you find stuff that is— A book club, a weekly goal sheet. We are ready to conquer the world, and then life shows up. We get tired. Work gets crazy. You get into an argument at home. You miss workouts. An unexpected bill shows up. You do Mall therapy or shopping therapy or retail therapy, whatever they want to call it. You go back to old habits. You open reconnections or you reconnect with people that were not or should not be in your circle. And that's when transformation actually gets tested. What happens when you screw up? Do you quit? No. Or do you learn something, adjust, and get back after it? I'll tell you what, I've got clients that oftentimes it's 2, 3, 4 steps forward and then 2, 3, 4 steps back. And that's okay. As a coach, number one, I'm not going to judge you. But number two, I'm there to help you on that journey and help you walk that journey and find out why you took the steps back. Help you find out why you took the steps back. A year gives us enough road for real life to happen. And at the heart of this course, or actually at the heart of this program, is not that it's a course. I've designed courses before. I've done, I've done things where I, I I build online training or I build programs and I send it out to the person. They have all the information. They have all the downloads. They have all the books that they need. But this is not a course. And if you want to call it magic or success, what I've seen in it, It's not because the worksheets that you're going to get. It's not because the videos that you're going to get. And it's definitely not going to be around group coaching. I designed this so it was one-on-one. One coach, one client, your life, your goals, your decisions, your transformation. I'm not going to sit across from you and tell you, How I think you should live. That's not how I coach. Those of you who have been my clients in the past, you know that's not how I coach. My job is to ask the questions. Sometimes they're really uncomfortable questions. My job is to help slow things down, to help you hear what you are actually saying, not just the words, but what you're actually saying, to challenge your thinking, to help you recognize patterns. And to create accountability around those commitments that you decide to make. You set the direction. I coach the transformation. Now we're going to meet twice a month. And between those sessions, it's that we're not only doing the work in those sessions. We're not only doing the work when we're on a Zoom call with each other. You're going to have weekly accountability check-ins. What's working? What's not working? Where did you follow through? Where did you fail to follow through? Where are you learning and what's getting in the way? You're also going to have access to a growing Stan Schur learning library with tools, videos, resources around things like communication, boundaries, decision-making, emotional intelligence, resilience, confidence, leadership, personal growth. Remember, the library supports the coaching, it doesn't replace it. You're also going to build a community of Your personal leadership library. We are going to co-create a personal leadership library for you. We're going to build something tangible throughout the year. We're going to read and draw from books around leadership, discipline, purpose, resilience, character, Personal growth. For some, it might be around masculinity. For those of you on the opposite end of the spectrum of masculinity, it's gonna be— or the opposite sex— it's gonna be around femininity. But we're not reading just to say we finished another book, because I want to know what challenged you. What did you disagree with? What did you underline? What made you uncomfortable? What, what made you recognize something about yourself? Then we'll bring those ideas into our coaching conversations. You know, the basic formula is going to be read it, wrestle with it, apply it, and decide what you're going to keep. Now, I want you to check out the 12-month picture. Imagine that you're sitting where you are today a year from now. Now, granted, your life's not gonna be perfect. That's not the promise of this. But maybe you're showing up differently. Your faith is stronger. You're clear about what you believe and what matters. You're more present with your family. You're communicating differently. You're making Intentional financial decisions instead of avoiding them. You're taking care of your body. You've got more energy. You've built discipline. And most important, you have spent a year proving something to yourself. You've proven that you can follow through, that you can make difficult decisions, that you can have uncomfortable conversations, that you can change patterns, that you can get knocked off course and get Get back on it. You can become different. And that's what I mean when I say become unrecognizable in 12 months. Not because you became somebody else, but because you finally got intentional about becoming the person you wanted to be. So in the beginning, I told you I was going to give you an offer at the end. And I'm glad if you stuck it out this far. Thank you so much for sticking it out this far. I'm glad you stuck it out. The Transformation Year is an offer that I'm doing through Stanshaw Coaching. It's a 12-month private one-on-one coaching experience. We're not going to do group coaching. It's you and I working together through the year around those 4 areas: faith, family, finances, fitness. You're going to receive private coaching. You're gonna get weekly accountability. You're gonna get access to that growing library of Stand Sure learning videos, downloads, personalized tools, resources. And again, we're gonna work together to build a personal leadership library throughout the year. And that's the features. But here's what you're really investing in. You're investing in 12 months of intentionally working on the person you're becoming. For 1 year, it's $3,000. That's $250 a month. $3,000 to be different. than who you are today. This is not just another burst of motivation. This is not just another course. It's not more information. It's not somebody telling you what to do. It's a coaching relationship designed to help you discover what you want, what's getting in your way, and what you're willing to do about it. So here's my challenge. Don't ask yourself Whether your life is bad enough to need coaching, ask yourself something much better. If nothing changes over the next 12 months, am I satisfied with where I'll be? And, and some of you are going to be like, yeah, hey, I'm fine. I'm cool. I don't need to transform. Life is good. But if you're like, no, I want something different, let's have a conversation. So over on my website, www.stanshirescoaching.com, I want you to check out the Transformation Year and take the next step. Again, Again, one coach, one client, one year. The other question is not just are you investing or not are you just the one who's worth investing in, how about those around you? Are you willing to commit and invest in yourself for 1 year to make changes in your faith, your family, your fitness, and your finances? Hey, go ahead and reach out. I would love to be working with you. Again, go out to StanShererCoaching.com. Look for the transformation year. Would love to be working with you on this. All right, that's all I have for this episode. I really hope to be working with you soon. Let's get together. Let's partner together. Let's work together and and get away from just having more information, and let's get into transformation. Sit with me a year from now, and let's both look at how much you've grown. How much you've changed, becoming the person that you want to be.
