3 Ways the SYSTEM is Failing Us ⛔️

Rob Moore argues the political system is a democracy façade, the banking system lets governments run trillion-pound deficits while citizens pay inflation, and schools never teach how money actually works. He offers courses on his platform Rob.team to fill the gap.

3 ways I believe our system is drastically failing us. We are in turbulent times. The world seems that it's on the edge of a revolution, definitely a financial revolution. I feel we need a political overhaul because politics, I believe, is, um, at one of its lowest points in maybe decades, who knows. So our system needs a dramatic overhaul, and I think there's 3 main areas that our system needs a dramatic overhaul. The first is the political system and the way politics works. The second is the banking and monetary system and the way the, the banking and the monetary system work. And the third is the financial system, especially around financial education. So, um, number 1, the political system. The political system, I believe, is broken. So for example, there were a couple of hundred people who voted for the current UK Prime Minister. So it's not a democracy. 200-ish people decided on the leader of our country. For the next 2 and a half years. And then no sooner was she in, the, um, her own party and maybe the Bank of England and the IMF and whoever's behind the scenes pulling the strings essentially overruled her power because of the U-turn that happened, um, with the tax cuts. We've got the most divided political system where no one really seems to be concerned with long-term growth, long-term recovery. And the problem is, is the selfish motive and the motive for the people are completely misaligned. And the political system of the— in politics, if you make any good long-term decisions, you're probably going to get kicked out in the short term. This is the problem. Long-term, Bank of England should have put rates up years ago. They know it, they didn't. Long-term, we need growth strategies and tactics, which probably means allowing interest rates to go really high and allowing a recession and a correction to happen. But when new people in power come into power, they don't just want to immediately come in and trigger a recession a cleanse, if you like, because obviously that's bad for their own career. So in politics, of course, you've got many politicians are careerists, and if they're not careerists— and Nigel Farage said to me, there's people in politics who want to be someone and people in politics who want to do something. And if you want to be someone, you're a careerist, you're trying to get popular and build a career through politics. But if you want to do something, you want to change the world, The thing is, you can't change the world in politics because the system isn't set up that way. It's not long-term enough, it doesn't support you enough, doesn't look into the future enough. It's not a democracy. It's the biggest fallacy ever that we're in a democracy. It's not a democracy because there's propaganda. And anyway, so I think the political system is completely broken and needs a radical rethink and overhaul. Let me know what you think in the comments, by the way. Hey everyone, thanks for tuning in. Let me know what you think in the comments about the political system. Do you think it needs a radical overhaul? And what is that radical overhaul? How could it change? How can we make the selfish interest and the people interest more aligned? I think we have way too many civil servants. I just think a lot of them are just moving paper around. The tax code is thousands of pages long. All it needs to be is a flat 20% rate. Yeah, when I get angry, my voice cracks. Absolutely right, Amanda. And it occasionally squeaks when I get really angry. But, you know, this might be completely naive, but let's say I was the Chancellor, or let's say I was the Prime Minister, which I absolutely don't want to be. All of you keep saying I should be involved. I don't want to be involved. But I'd immediately go and look at all the civil servants who aren't really doing any work, they're just pushing paper and getting paid to work from home, and they'd be gone. And then I'd look at the tax code and I'd go, right, well, that's thousands of pages and masses of work and wastage. Fuck that, flat rate. I mean, what's wrong with that? So this is the thing, the careerists and the personal interests, um, are not aligned with the people interest. You know, I run a business, I have 137 staff, 110 in the office, 27 outsourcers. Actually, I probably have more. And I know that when I align the individual interest with the interest of the company, that's when you get the maximum growth and the minimum amount of friction. When you don't align selfish interest with global interest, that's when you get the most of our attention and friction. And it's completely misaligned. And we've got the most division in politics I think we've ever had. Ironically, we don't have Conservatives and Labour, we don't have capital and social, it's all just a hotchpotch, murd, blurred confusion mess. Okay, number 2 then, let's move on to the banking and the monetary system. The banking and the monetary system is broken. Why? Because the government are allowed to stay in trillions of debt and run on a deficit. They don't have to become— be put into surplus. They're allowed to run into deficit. And as the government debt gets bigger and bigger and bigger, you and I get taxed more and more and more, and inflation goes up and up and up, and quantitative easing and money printing is more and more and more and more and more. So governments need to be held more account to balance their books better and not just build trillions of debt which we have to pay for in hundreds of billions of interest. And, you know, I know some people are going to disagree with what I'm about to say, but there wasn't enough of an economic outlook with lockdown 1, 2, and 3. And lockdown 1, I can understand. I really do understand why lockdown 1 happened. But surely, as soon as they realized it wasn't deadly, they should have also looked at the economic implications and not just the wellness implications, because with really poor economics, you have really poor wellness. There's not enough of a focus on the state of the economy for the people, by the way. And now, of course, what's happened is our chancellor has been sacked and he's the fall guy, and the new person's come in, he's basically just going to put the taxes up. Now, I warned that that's what Rishi would do, and essentially now we've just got Rishi in new clothes, in our new chancellor. So everything that happens that the government do to mismanage and overspend, you and I are fucking paying for it, and that is wrong. But we don't have any say because the political system is not a democracy, and 200-odd people voted for our current Prime Minister. We didn't vote, so we don't have a fucking say. So they're making decisions and we don't have a say in it. So the political system is wrong, the banking system is wrong, whereby governments can go into trillions of debt, we have to pay the interest, the taxes get increased, The banking system print money for fun with no physical asset back to it, which means our money is being devalued, which pushes inflation really high. And, you know, the banks take your money and they can lend and invest it out at a factor of 10 to 1, but they pay you hardly any interest. So I, I'd like to see the financial system also have a rethink. I'd like money to be valuable and worth something. So the third thing that I think is where the system is really failing us is financial education and knowledge. And this is where I'm trying to do my bit to help the planet, hopefully. Um, and now have more than 2 million followers and subscribers, so I'm starting to get a bit of reach and impact. And I won't stop, I won't shut up about this until I'm fucking dead. And hopefully that's another 50+ years of Rob's rants. Um, but you are not taught in school how to manage and multiply money. You're not taught in school how to manage your emotions around money. You're not taught about the banking and the financial system around money. Even in economics, you're not properly taught about how the banking system really works. You're not. So, um, I think there needs to be better financial education and knowledge, literally in primary schools and moving up, so you understand the implications of inflation and interest rates and monetary policy. You understand selfish motives around money. You understand money emotions. You understand how the money system really works, because most people don't. You understand assets versus liabilities. And yes, you can be taught it. You can be taught a financial statement and a balance sheet and management accounts in economics. You can be taught economic theory, but theory is just theory. It's not practice in reality. You know, the economy isn't a real economy. A business is the only real economy. I'll tell you why. A business must trade solvently and must make profit. And if it knowingly trades in a loss and trades insolvently, that is illegal. And you can be struck off as a director or even put in prison for trading insolvently, knowingly trading at a loss. But most countries in the world now knowingly trade at a loss. Everyone knows what the government are in debt, 2.2 trillion and going up more and more. They lobbed another half trillion on with lockdowns. They've put another 60 billion on in 6 months on the energy caps. Governments are allowed to trade in sovereign. So it's not a real fucking economy. It's like Monopoly. Oh, I'll spend this billion, but it's only paper money and I won't get it back. Oh, and I'm in debt. Just give me a— print me some more Monopoly money and we'll just fucking chuck it around and make shit up. That's what the economy is. It's not a real economy. A business is a real economy. You have to offer value, create fair exchange, you have to have happy clients. The government don't have any happy clients. We're all fucking unhappy. But they can have a billion unhappy clients and it doesn't fucking matter. If I had 100 unhappy clients, I'd have a real issue in my business. So I have to offer valuable products and services, have a fair profit margin, which means I can make money and they're grateful. I have to look after them, otherwise they turn on me. I have to trade solvently, I have to balance my books. And then when I make a bit of money, the government are coming after it all and fucking taxing me left, right, and centre. The system is completely fucked on all levels. Political, monetary, banking, and personal finance level. The system's completely broken. They're the 3 areas I believe the world is really failing us at the moment. I mean, that's not even to talk about poverty, you know, and health, and all the rest of it. Well-being and, you know, wars. There's all that stuff as well. So look, thanks for all your, your kind comments that I can see there in the chat. Let me know if you've got any thoughts in the comments, what your thoughts on what I've said. Is there any other areas where you think the system is failing us? Now look, I don't want to fail you even though the system is failing us. So what I did in lockdown 2020 is instead of charging the usual hundreds of pounds or dollars for the various online courses I was running, because obviously lockdown, they had to all become online. I still have to run a business because I am an education training business, but I put a lot of my physical courses online. Instead of charging thousands, I was charging hundreds. But when lockdown happened, I made a big decision which really benefits you. I basically stopped charging for these online courses, saving you hundreds of dollars per course, and I put them all into Rob.team, my online financial education platform.
