7 Ways to get INSPIRED š”

Rob Moore shares seven ways to break creative block: follow thought leaders obsessively, reverse-engineer your past struggles into lessons, model other creators with your own twist, teach what you learn, join masterminds and podcasts, crowdsource ideas from communities, and use active meditation like long walks to clear your head.

7 quick ways to get inspired. People are always telling me they struggle for ideas for content or a product or a service, or they get stuck in a rut or writer's block or whatever. Now look, there are many things in life I'm not good at, but being prolific with content and having lots of ideas and inspiration is actually something I do pretty well. It's a form of therapy. So what I'm going to do is share with you 7 ways to get inspired fast for your content, for your brand, for your mission, for your message, for your art, for anything. Get out of that rut. Okay, so number 1 is to follow thought leaders in your space and niche on social media, listening to their books, audiobooks, going on their courses, Mastermind. Literally stalk, stalk influencers in your niche and space that you're inspired by and challenged by. This is actually really important. A lot of people only follow people they're inspired by. Many people say to me, Rob, you have a little relationship thing going on with Dave Ramsey. You're always on his post, sometimes criticizing him. I never criticize him, but I'm often challenging his content because he sees the world differently to me. So follow people who are the top go-to people in your niche and space. Yes, get inspired by them. Don't rip them off, by the way. Get inspired by them. Um, but also people who challenge you, uh, and then just stalk them everywhere. Okay, the second thing you can do to get inspired for your content, for your brand, for your mission, for your message is think about what you struggled with in life and reverse engineer how you figured it out. So we've all struggled, we've all had challenge. There were things that happened in life that at the time we never thought we would get through, or, you know, we thought might break us or felt so hard. And looking back, years gone by, they can be some of the greatest experiences of our lives. And actually, we could reverse engineerā now we're out of the problemā how we solved the problem. Whether it was a divorce or a business breakup or writing a book that took you years. Most people don't realise how many things they've figured out. Your life is the greatest inspiration for all the things you have struggled through and transcended in your life. You just have to trace the steps going back and create a little reverse-engineered system and model. So as an example, my business partner and I have finished a 159-tenant, 130,000-square-foot development that took 5 years, is worth $25-odd million, and had all sorts of planning issues, builders and contractors going bust on us left, right, and centre. You name it. We had issues, but we did it. We got it done, and we could create like the most hardcore, like, 5-day masterclass course on everything we learned. And at times when our main contractor went bust and they sunk Ā£350,000 of our cash with them, in that moment we were like, how are we going to find another main contractor? This is a real issue. This isā I want to lose that kind of money. But then we ended up becoming the main contractor, and we'd never have thought about that before. And then we learned how to be a main contractor not even having a proper main contractor. So anything you've struggled with, you've figured outā reverse engineer. What it means is go back through. You take yourself outside of yourself because often you're so much in your own head you don't know what you know. But actually, if you take yourself outside of yourself, have the helicopter view and go, 'Oh, actually, yeah, that was a struggle, figured that out, that was a struggle, figured that out,' create a little system, then that can create inspiration for the future. And that can create great content, by the way. Anything that you struggled with in the past is great content for the present. The third way you can get inspiration for content, brand, business ideas is to follow people, influencers, creators, thought leaders and then share your take on their content. So for example, I'm creating content on Elon Musk's rules for business and Arnold Schwarzenegger's rules for business and Jordan Peterson's rules for life. Now most of my content is unique and original, but sometimes I'll take an influencer and I will then create my own brand of their content. And I will always give them credit. I don't copy anyone, and I'll refer to people and give them the credit if I've modeled them. Don't rip anyone off, but by all means model them. But you can take other people's work and then put your own spin on it. Now, by the way, people have been doing that forever. Musicians do that all the time, all the time. Artists do that all the time. I'm not a fan of ripping off. There is a saying: good artists borrow, great artists steal. Literally, some people just completely copy others. I'm not a fan of that because I like to be a bit more original. Okay, the fourth way that you can get inspired is learn. The more you learn, the more you earn, but also the more you learn, the more you can teach. And I would say that when you learn, you will feel inspired and energized. You will feel the growth, and you'll probably immediately want to teach. So study, learn, listen, watch, observe. Now learning isn't just about reading books and going on courses and seminars. It can be going on a walk in nature. It could be having a conversation with a child. It can literally be observing your own emotions and feelings. But if you have the mindset to learn and then to teach, you'll get inspired. Because when you learn, obviously that's an inspirational feeling, because all human beings love to learn things that they're interested in. But when you teach, you have to edify the learning, create it in a distillable and an understandable way for someone else. Okay, the fifth way that you can get inspired is to have great discussions with interesting people. So for me, one of the greatest things about having the Disruptors Podcast, over 800 episodes going back 6 years. By the way, if you'd like a link to my podcast and some special guests, um, some special bonuses, just write podcast in the chat. Uh, 800 episodes, what, nearly 20 billionaires, 100+ hundred millionaires or deca-millionaires. And if you'd like some, um, financial resource gifts and bonuses, um, just write podcast in the chat. I'll give you a link to my podcast and some special gifts. Okay, so one of the things I love about podcasting is discussions with interesting people. So being in a mastermind, in a peer group of like-minded people, it's one of the best feelings in the world. Who likes to talk about interesting things with dull people? No. Who loves to talk about inspiring ideas with negative, critical Naysayers? No one. We all like to be around people like us, and we're all inspired by people who have conversations in areas that we're interested in. But it's your responsibility to get around those people. So many people are saying, "Oh, my friends, the people around me, so negative. I hate my life. Fuck my life. Fuck my friends. Fuck my friends." Nah. You have to make a decision, and you have to take action, and you have to go and seek out networking groups and masterminds and infiltrate a higher quality or a more relevant quality of person. And for me, being around cool, interesting, exciting, energetic, enthusiastic, positive people, this is one of the greatest gifts of life. Okay, the sixth thing you can do to get inspiration is to go and ask other people. This, this is so simple, I don't know why more people don't do it. So many people are trying to come up with the inspiration and the idea themselves. Let's say I wanted to start a business and I didn't know really what my niche would be. I could go and join the Disruptive Entrepreneur Facebook group. Disruptive Entrepreneur, search that on Facebook, go and request to join for that group, join that group and say, hey look, I'm starting a business, I have 3 interests, which one do you think is best for a business? Or I want to help business owners What, as a business owner, what's your biggest problem that you're struggling with right now? Or, I've got an idea for a podcast, could youā here are 3 titles I'm thinking of, could you pick your favorite one? You can literally crowdsource titles, concepts, content, business models, any ideas by asking other people their thoughts and their feedback. It's called crowdsourcing. It is the lowest risk, highest reward, easiest way to come up with strategies and tactics and ideas that make money and make a difference. Who says that inspiration has to come within or from the Lord or from the spirit or from the universe? It could come from other people. Okay, and then this is a little bit more fluffy, but long walks really inspire me. Long walks In nature, ideas seem to flow through me. Definitely listening to music or doing some kind of passion, for sure, inspires me with lots of ideas. Driving, I get lots of ideas when I'm driving. I get lots of ideas when I'm in the shower, especially when I turn it to cold. So active meditation is when you're doing one thing. So meditation is actually concentration. It's concentrating on one thing or nothing. Active meditation is doing one thing, like a sport or a passion, but so much focused on it. And what you'll find is that you will have ideas that flood to you. People think they need more ideas. They don't. They need to clear their mind. They need more space in their mind. So people are looking at inspiration the wrong way around. Oh, I need more ideas. No, no, no, no. You need a clear, empty mind of all the noise. You need to let go. Of all the noise. So quick summary, brother. Hit the share button if you found this useful. If you want to get inspired, there's 7 waysā well, there's more, but I'm sharing 7 ways.
