7 Weird Habits That Made me Millions

Rob Moore shares seven habits he credits with building his millions: afternoon naps that add 2-3 hours of work time, a third coffee in the afternoon, converting runs to walks for more thinking space, voice memos sent to a personal WhatsApp group to capture ideas fast, and letting anger motivate him through setbacks.

7 weird habits that have made me millions that no one will teach you on LinkedIn or TikTok. No guru will tell you about these 7 millionaire habits. Work hard, get up early, sleep less. No, these are weird, quirky, and actually probably quite human things that you can do too if you want to make more money. Um, one is afternoon naps. So I started taking 15 to 20 minute naps at my lull in the day, and what I found was it gave me at least another 3 hours boost of really good energy. So I get up early, I get up anywhere between sort of 2:30 AM and 6 AM. And so what would happen is by 3 PM I'd really crash, and I started taking these 15-20 minute naps. Maybe it's because I'm 45, but all of a sudden I had 3 or 4 hours much more energy in the day, whether it's to, you know, play with my kids or do more work. So, um, just putting a couple of hours a day back into work or your business can make a lot of money. Okay, the second thing that's weird that's definitely made me a lot of money is micromanaging. So everyone says you shouldn't micromanage, and if you watch all these regurgitated gurus on LinkedIn, they say that micromanaging is evil. Well, I actually don't agree. Number one is, until someone can do the job really well themselves, you actually do need to watch over them. You do need to micromanage them. You do need to check them. You do need to chase them. You do need to deadline them. And often, if you leave people to their own devices, they will mess things up. So micromanaging isn't always the, the Antichrist, you know, that a lot of leadership gurus tell you about. And it also depends on the cycle. Like, if you're in business growth and you're in a good season in the economy and things are relatively easy, you can kind of let people crack on more. Whereas if you're going through efficiency or a bit of a downside, or the economy is like it is now where everything is a lot harder and people are more lazy and people more entitled and all of this, well, actually you do need to keep a bloody hawk's eye on people. So micromanaging actually in this part of the cycle has been really good for me. Okay, the second— third weird habit is having an extra coffee. So I always used to have 2 coffees a day, a sort of— that was my ceiling, my maximum. I was very religious about 6 in the morning, 10 in the morning, no coffee after 10 o'clock. If I had a coffee later in the afternoon, it'd make me feel jittery. Now I would recommend you test your own coffees here, and maybe it's not great advice for me telling you to have more coffee, but for me, that one extra coffee about 2:30 to 3 PM, the right amount of coffee at the right time, actually again gave me a few hours of a good boost. Didn't— doesn't feel like it has any negative effect. I've checked with a lot of really good health experts who say that coffee, you know, is pretty good for you all in all. Obviously, if you don't drink it too late and don't have too much. So turning 2 coffees into 3 worked for me. Number 4, turning runs into walks. So, you know, I used to want to run because I want to obviously stay fit and healthy, but when I turned runs into walks— I'm told that running is not actually that good for your health if you do a lot of it, but walking is one of the things that keeps you living the longest. And also on my walks, I can voice memo I can sometimes reply to messages. I can sort of think about business. And, um, I'm told if you do 15,000— 10,000 to 15,000 steps a day, that's really good for life longevity. But for work and money point of view, really it's all about, um, the leverage factor, doing all the voice memos, etc. Okay, number 5 weird thing that helped me make a lot of money was actually spending a lot on clothes but buying less. So I think people buy too many clothes, or they buy, you know, big labels all over them. I don't like big labels, so I don't buy many clothes anymore, but I spend a lot of money on clothes when I buy them. And here's why: I want to feel good. Obviously, you— I like to think I look good. Maybe you disagree. Um, I also know that if I'm really choosy about what I buy, I'll probably buy the right thing. It'll probably last a long time. But I know if I wear expensive clothes, it does make me feel good. And obviously how you feel is everything. So I would recommend buying less clothes but actually buying more expensive clothes, good quality, that you feel really good and sharp and/or comfortable in. Okay, number 6 thing that people say is weird but it's made me millions is voice memoing myself. So I actually voice memo myself a lot and I send a lot of messages to myself. Now some people would say that maybe makes me a bit mad and crazy. Um, but actually it's real time, it's fast, and you don't forget anything. Um, I'm often doing live Zooms or talks and I'll just literally stop and say, look, I've just got a voice memo myself or my PA because I don't want to forget this. Um, you get real-time reminders, so you can then use AI to transcribe it. Because I find as you get older and as you have more responsibility, ideas fly in and fly out like butterflies and you don't want to lose them. So I actually have my own WhatsApp group to myself and I voice memo myself in real time and I just get a lot more done and I forget less. And, and it's fast, you know, money loves speed. And I really find that decision-making at speed and making things happen fast is really important if you want to be successful in today's world. Okay, and then the 7th weird thing— let me just summarize. So 7 weird habits that have made me millions: afternoon naps, micromanaging, increasing my coffee intake, turning runs into walks, spending a lot on clothes but buying less, voice memoing myself. And then the final thing is getting pissed off more. You know, I used to get pissed off a lot when I was younger and it wasn't good for me. And then I did personal development and in the last 18 years of building a $250 billion in sales training business and over 100 staff, I've learned to control my emotions and not get pissed off and really just try and manage myself. But every now and again you should get pissed off more. And if you really believe something is wrong, you should get pissed off. And all this stuff about the modern leader and, you know, being all perfect and inclusive, and that's fine to a point, but you're a human and you're allowed to get pissed off. And I think people like to see raw, real emotion, especially if it's something that you really believe in. Someone screws you over, get pissed off. If the government are messing up the country, get pissed off. And if you want to get something proper done that is slow, get pissed off. Because getting pissed off actually is really starting to work for me if I just allow it. You've got to pick your battles. So for example, you should be pissed off if you're broke. You should be pissed off with the banks, um, and you know, they call it a savings account when it's a degradings account. You should be pissed off with Labour and all the increase in taxes. You should be pissed off with the soaring cost of living. You should be pissed off with the energy companies, you know, that made billions when your heating went through the roof. And you should be pissed off, um, you know, if you're stuck in life and you're not where you want to be. And if you are pissed off with any of those, I recommend you join Rob.team. You should be pissed off that you're not yet a member of Rob.team. So everything that they didn't teach you in school, that the system doesn't want you to know, you know, about money and how it really works and how to really make it, you know. I basically did an 18-hour study of how the banks make money and then teach you how to do what they do. So you can become rich like them. Um, obviously no school system's ever going to let that content in. Um, it'll actually be a £700 course that I'm putting on my website once I've done the thumbnails. Um, it's done, it's live, it's in rob.team, and you can get it, um, free with your rob.team membership instead of paying the £700 once I put it on my website. Um, there's Zoom classes with me most Sunday evenings, uh, and, uh, the only place where you can do live Q&As with me. Natasha said here Rob.team is the best educational financial platform. Adam has said Rob.team is a great resource. Well, what, worth missing one cup of coffee per month? Yes, you can claim it back on your tax return, Nikki, you can. It's an offsettable expense, so just type R-O-B dot T-E-A-M. So, um, let me know what you think of my weird habits that have made me millions that probably shouldn't work, that the gurus on LinkedIn and TikTok won't tell you, because, um, I don't think most of these gurus have actually made money. I just think they're repurposing content. Afternoon naps gave me a good 2 to 3 hours of extra energy. Number 1, micromanaging is really good if you need to get shit done, especially if, you know, you're not yet surrounded by top performers. And of course, everyone on LinkedIn will tell you micromanaging is Satan personified. It's not. Extra coffee helped me. Turning runs into walks so I could leverage the time. And do my voice memos. Oh, apparently an iced caramel latte is £7 in Dubai. That's pretty much what Rob.team costs a month. So if you don't risk anything, you risk everything. If you're not prepared to invest £7, £8 a month in yourself, yet you've got a £1,000 TV hanging on the wall and you've got a car loan you're paying for, maybe you just need to check your priorities. You should be more pissed off about your financial situation, and that's why you should join Rob.team. Um, my fifth weird habit is I actually spend a hell of a lot of money on clothes. I just buy less, don't buy big branded labels, but I do buy clothes that I feel make me feel and look good. Quite a few of you have asked about why do I wear these buckles. It's all Alexander McQueen. I love the story of the brand, definitely gives me a sense of feeling and purpose when I wear it. People will say you shouldn't spend much on clothes. I say spend loads on clothes, but but just less. The 6th weird habit is I voice memo myself a lot, but I get a lot more done and I don't forget things. And the 7th weird habit is I get pissed off a bit more now, having tried to control it for 18 years of being an entrepreneur. Now, if it's important and it needs to get done, I'm getting pissed off until it's done. Thanks for tuning in. It's no exaggeration to say these have made and saved me millions over the years, and it's not theory. It's reality. I've seen Rob.team. If you do enjoy my content, please would you turn your notifications on? Because social media is up to weird shenanigans with the algorithms. And also, um, please share my work if you think that the content is useful to you and could be useful to, to other people. No, it's not a shoulder support. No, it's not a gun holster. No, it's not a back brace. And no, it's not a backpack. It's Alexander McQueen. Thanks for tuning in, and remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything. Yes, I said Rob Moore.
