Amber Heard to appeal verdict 😳

In this solo YouTube commentary, Rob Moore reports breaking news that Amber Heard is expected to appeal the defamation verdict she lost against Johnny Depp. He reads Heard’s emotional post‑verdict statement, which laments the power imbalance with Depp, warns that the decision harms women, and claims the jury ignored freedom of speech. Moore critiques Heard’s framing, arguing the case is simply Depp versus Heard and that the verdict reflects the credibility of her evidence rather than a broader gender issue. He outlines the financial stakes: Depp was awarded $15 million in compensatory and punitive damages, while Heard won a $2 million claim against Depp’s lawyer, and he speculates on the massive legal fees likely earned by both sides. Moore uses the case to discuss the limits of free speech versus defamation, the role of celebrity culture, and the broader societal impact. He then pivots to his personal mission of improving financial literacy during a cost‑of‑living crisis, offering a free “toolkit” of resources for saving money and generating income, and encourages viewers to comment “toolkit” to receive it. Throughout, he invites audience reactions on the legal, gender, and free‑speech aspects of the case.

So Amber Heard is likely to appeal the verdict in which she lost her defamation case against Johnny Depp. I've just seen 3 news sources break this news. This news has just come out. I actually wanted to do a video talking about her statement. I'd recorded a video earlier on Johnny Depp's statement and it was certainly an emotional statement. And I'm going to share Amber Heard's statement in this video. So, um, first off, did you see the news that, um, Johnny Depp won the defamation case against Amber Heard? Well, she won one small claim of defamation for $2 million against Johnny Depp's lawyer. Johnny Depp won a £10 million compensatory and, uh, £5 million punitive damages totaling $15 million. Now apparently some sources are saying that Amber Heard can't afford, um, the money that she's got to pay Johnny Depp. Um, if she can't afford the money that she's got to pay Johnny Depp, then how can she afford to appeal and go again? Um, so I'm going to read you her statement because I think she released her statement literally minutes after the verdict. Whereas Johnny Depp, it looked like took about 24 hours. His seemed quite considered. It looked like it had been thought out, whereas I think maybe Amber Heard seemed a little bit more emotional. I'm going to read a statement in a minute. The reason I'm reporting about this or commenting on this, just doing my own video on it, is because I, I said nothing throughout the case because quite frankly there was no verdict and it would have just been hearsay. And now there is a verdict, uh, and look, it raises some questions, um, in the public eye on defamation, lawyers, uh, celebrity culture, which I think are probably important to address. So, um, just letting you know if you've just tuned in that, um, I've seen many news sources suggest that Amber Heard is likely to appeal Um, although, you know, that might change over the weeks as her emotions calm down. So this is her statement. I'd love your thoughts on this, by the way. And Angie, I completely agree, the only winners are the lawyers. More money for the lawyers. I'm sure the lawyers are there, appeal, appeal, you've got a great case, this was an injustice. So here's Amber Heard's statement: The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband. I'll come back to that part in a moment. I'm even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. I'll come back to that part in a moment. It's a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. I'll comment about that in a moment. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously. I believe Johnny's attorneys succeeded in getting the jury to overlook the key issue of freedom of speech and ignore evidence that was so conclusive that we won in the UK. I'm sad I lost the case, but I'm sadder still that I seem to have lost the right I thought I had as an American to speak freely and openly. Openly. So that is her statement. Let me know what you think about that in the comments. So disappointing and disappointed, that's, um, understandable. So she believed that her, um, ex-husband had disproportionate power, influence, and sway. Not sure I agree with that, to be quite honest. Um, you know, he's had a hard time of it, and, um, financially he's had many troubles. So not sure I agree with that. Now this bit, I'd love your thoughts on this, but I'm even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. To me, this is not a case of man against woman, men against women. It's not. It's a case of Johnny Depp versus Amber Heard. And to say that what this verdict means for other women, it means nothing for other women. It means that Amber Heard's evidence wasn't credible or believable to a jury that, um, Johnny Depp abused her. That's what, uh, the verdict means. But she's making this about other women. My personal view of that is it's not about other women. I would love your thoughts on that. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. Again, um, not sure that that's necessarily the case. She countersued Johnny Depp. She was the one that, um, you know, had the— she said what she said in the media about Johnny Depp, even though she didn't name him. So I'm not sure that it was exactly her being shamed and humiliated. Would love your thoughts. I mean, obviously the case is humiliating, but you know, when you choose to make these things public, this is what happens. Now, I know she didn't immediately She didn't spark off the defamation, but she said the things that enticed Johnny Depp into suing her for defamation. I mean, she says here it sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously. Well, she's lost the verdict, so she's lost the case that Johnny Depp was violent towards her. So again, I don't know, she's making this about women. This is not about women, obviously. Women should not be abused, nor should men either. No one should be abused. This is not about men and women. This is about Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. And I think it's wrong that she's trying to make it about women and men. I think that's really— personally, I think that's wrong. Um, I believe Johnny's attorney succeeded in getting the jury to overlook the key issue of freedom of speech. Well, no, you don't have the freedom to defame people, to ruin their good name. You don't have the freedom to do that, in my opinion. Let me know what you think about the freedom of speech. I think you're free to share your opinion, yes. Are you free to ruin someone's name and reputation? No, I don't think you should be free to speak that, personally. Again, I would love your thoughts on this. Um, I'm sad I lost the case, but I'm sadder still that I seem to have lost the right I thought I had as an American to speak freely and openly. Well, I suppose this rate raises the issue of what is freedom of speech, because I think we should all be free to share our opinion but not ruin other people's lives. I don't think we should have that freedom. Anyway, I'd love to know what you think. Let me know in the comments what you think. It looks like, um, well, at the moment there's a few news sources suggesting that Amber Heard, um, might, um, what are the words, um, go for a retrial. Um, more lawyer fees. There you go, the lawyers will love it. Um, not sure. Look, it's far better to have conflict privately. It's far better not to have lawyers involved. Um, now I know that's sometimes easier said than done, I get that, but, um, the lawyers are the only winners here. And maybe Amber Heard hasn't got the $15 million she needs to pay in damages, and if she hasn't, then she's screwed. And Johnny Depp, as we know, has had many financial issues in his life. So, um, you know, one of my missions is to help as many people on this planet get better financial education and knowledge. And I think there's not a lot of good financial education and knowledge out there. I think that there's none really taught in schools. I think that we're in a cost of living crisis and people don't know what to do. And cases like this just show what a heinous waste of money. I don't know what the lawyers made out of this. I bet the lawyers made more than the compensation. I remember I had a, a court case once. It was 16 years ago and it was pretty small, but the lawyers' fees were about the same as the compensation. So, and then my lawyers' fees, and there was two lawyers, so double. So going on that, um, metric, lawyers might have made $34 million from both sides or more. It's crazy. It's freaking crazy. So we need to be better with our money and better with our, um, you know, our relationships. Again, easy to say, but you know, we should learn from these things. A couple of people said, oh Rob, why are you commenting on this stuff? Well, I didn't for the whole case until it finished, and now I have. But because there's things to learn. Far better to learn vicariously through the mistakes and challenges and difficulty of other people than for us to have to learn by going to court or getting divorced or anything like that. So look, I want to help as many people get better financial knowledge. We're in a cost of living crisis, and certainly Amber Heard is probably in one now, and Johnny Depp has been in one for many years of his life. So If you'd like some help with your financial resources, some up to 30 ways to save half your salary a year in costs, and how to start a business or make extra income streams, just write toolkit in the comments because I'm currently, um, gifting some financial resources I created off the back of this cost of living crisis. So if you just write toolkit in the comments, I'll give you access to the 30 ways to save up to half your salary, how to start and scale extra additional income streams, create recurring income, residual income, etc., as a gift from me to you, um, so that I can help fulfill my mission. I know there's a lot of people out there that need help and support, um, and yeah, so many people are like, they're not armed to go in the real world with the good financial knowledge. You know, I interviewed someone who was, um, you know, in the military, and he said people are just not prepared when they leave the military to go into civilian life. They're just not. And I think most people are not prepared when they leave school to go into real life. And, um, you know, houses now are so expensive and bills are so expensive, and people don't know that all the bills that they have to pay and what expenses there really are. They don't know how to, how to make extra money and start their own business. And this is my mission, to help as many people as possible. So if you write toolkit in the comments, I'll share the link. I'll also add you, and I'll give you weekly resources. I want and we can stay in touch. No selling. Um, so yeah, just write toolkit in the comments, I'll give you access to all of that. So if you're just tuning in, um, Amber Heard looks like she's going to go for a retrial. That's the breaking news. A few news sources have shared that, although she may calm down, who knows. She may not be able to afford it, who knows. Apparently she's gonna have difficulty paying the compensation, the damages. So let's see what happens. I read her statement. Shall I read it one more time? I'll just read it super quick one more time. I think it's very interesting, um, and I, I think she's trying to make this about too many things. It's about Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband. I'm even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It's a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously. I believe Johnny's attorney succeeded in getting the jury to overlook the key issue of freedom of speech and ignore the evidence that was so conclusive that we won in the UK. I'm sad I lost the case, but I'm sadder that I still seem to have lost the right that I thought I had as an American to speak freely. Really. I've shared my thoughts on that. I would love to know what your thoughts are in the comments. Thanks for tuning in, and remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
