Are Landlords Really Evil?

Rob Moore argues landlords aren't the problem: government planning restrictions and taxes are. He's spent 20 years in property, manages 400 tenants, and says landlords need profit to keep investing. He blames Labour policies for rising rents and house prices.

Landlords should not make money. You would not believe how many people blur on social media, all these lefties, socialist hypocrites, how many people say that landlords should not make money. And I'm going to put the record straight. Why is it that landlords are blamed for a lack of housing? Do landlords control housing supply? No. Do landlords restrict planning laws and restrict and control how many houses are built? No. Who does that? The government. So if anyone should be blamed for this housing crisis, it is not the landlord, it is the government. In fact, landlords are solving the housing crisis. So what a landlord does is they buy a dilapidated property that's run down, that looks shit, that the government didn't sort out. They get themselves into debt getting a mortgage, paying for a refurb, getting a loan, paying all these outrageous property taxes, turn it around, and then put it up for rent. And then they maintain it, do the property management, the property maintenance, and they offer an amazing service for people who can't afford to buy a house themselves. And yet all these lefty hippie socialist people who are getting benefits from the government and being paid by the government to live— who gives all government money? Landlords and private sector. So there is no government money. There is only private sector landlord entrepreneur taxpayer money that gets given to or stolen by the government There is no government money. There is our money, the people's money, that goes to the government. And the government aren't building any houses. The government make planning really fucking hard. The government have just increased the taxes on buying property, on stamp duty. So the government are causing the housing crisis, the government are restricting the supply, and the landlords get blamed for it. So I'm just gonna say it: without landlords, there would be a 10 times bigger housing crisis. The price is going up and up and up. That's not the landlord's fault. That's controlled by central banks and governments and supply, which they control and maybe they manipulate. So if you agree with me, by all means share this video. I, I am a landlord. I have 400 tenants. So let me ask you this: where would those 400 tenants live without me developing property, building property, taking the risk, paying all the taxes? Where would they all live? Because they wouldn't live in government housing, otherwise they would go and live in government housing. And by the way, government housing is always fucking shit. Social housing is shit and run down and not managed properly. Hashtag just saying. So Landlords, I salute you. Anyone who starts a business takes a risk, you know, buys a property, turns it round, rents it out, takes the risk, I salute you. And all the profit that you make, you fucking deserve it, and I champion you. And this is why I teach people how to be entrepreneurs and how to be landlords. I've been doing this for nearly 20 years. This is why I push back on fucking Labour governments and all this lefty hip hippie hypocrisy that's going on out there. We need more landlords. By the way, we wouldn't need any landlords if the government sorted out housing supply, increased housing supply, made it easier and more affordable, and gave more rules to the banks, and gave more subsidies, and took the trillions that we give them in tax and supported people who couldn't afford a house, you know, supported accommodation, supported living, supported lending. If they actually helped, we wouldn't have a housing crisis. And we have a massive housing crisis. Even as a landlord, I say rents are too high. Rents are too high, but so are the costs of owning a house. House prices are too high, rents are too high, but that is not the problem of the landlord. I would rather my cost to maintain and manage and own a house is less, and my taxes are less, and then my rent I could pass on less. I could pass on a saving to the tenant. That's what I'd rather happen. But I'm forced to have to push my rents up because inflation is high and interest rates are high and lending is high and taxes are high and costs are high. And then the Labour government come in and they attack the landlord and they push the prices up on us and we have to push the rents up because it's the only way we generate income. And then they make an enemy of us and then they blame us for everything for the votes. It's easy to say landlords are evil because most people are tenants and most people aren't landlords, so Labour will get major votes if they make an enemy of the landlord and basically palm off the responsibility onto us. And that's the reality. So look, if you would like to be an entrepreneur, make money, push back against the government, learn how to actually make something of your life in 2025. I've got a Zoom where I'm going to go more into this. So it was actually my birthday— depending on the time zone, it could be my birthday today, but it's been my birthday over the last few hours. Um, and instead of doing parties and getting drunk, I do Zooms every year on my birthday. I share my birthday, we have a little bit of a celebration, we share some wins. I'll share some challenges I've had as well. And I always take a new year because my birthday's on the 4th of January. I take a new year theme. And this year I'm doing how to make 10 grand a month recurring income. So give me a yes in the comments if you'd like to learn how to make 10 grand a month recurring income. And obviously real estate is a great way to do this. And this Zoom isn't specifically about property, it's more specifically about how to make 10 grand a month. So give me a yes in the comments if you'd like to learn how to make 10 grand a month recurring income, not occurring income, more passively, less actively. Give me a yes in the comments. Okay, so the link— actually, I'll give you the link to go and register. That's what, what you need to do. The link is robmoore.live/sunday. Thanks for the birthday wishes, by the way. 46 years young. Robmoore.live/sunday. If you go and type that into anywhere— but I can see the numbers going down, so people are going there and typing. Robmorr.live/sunday. Come celebrate me with my birthday. I'll share some wins, I'll share some losses and challenges, or both of which you can learn from, by the way. And I'll teach you the 3 best ways I know, the fastest ways I know, um, to make £10,000 a month recurring income. Um, and by the way, it's not specifically about property, but I hate the way landlords are made the enemy. I hate the way all these lefty hippie, like people who basically get paid to live by people like me, how they attack landlords and how they don't understand how the world really works. And landlords are the ones solving the housing crisis, not the government, not by any means. And Labour have come in and gone, 'Oh, we're going to build a load more houses,' just like the last government, just like the one before that, and none of them fucking do. And let's see if they do. The jury is out. Let's see. But they need to relax the planning laws. They need to build more. Houses, they need to control the banks and the rates a bit more, and they need to take some of the taxpayer money and support people getting on the housing ladder if they want to solve the housing crisis. I mean, there's a question to say, do they even want to? But the landlords are not the evil ones. Of course there are bad landlords, but there are bad tenants as well. There are some landlords, there are some tenants. And by the way, tenant law is much more in favor of the tenant than the landlord. And it's got harder to make money as a landlord now. And landlords need to make money. Like, if entrepreneurs didn't make money, no one would start a business. If landlords don't make money, no one would develop properties. And the country's already in fucking disrepair and ruin. So anyway, come join me, celebrate on my birthday, learning the 3 fastest ways to make 10 grand a month. Launch it big in 2025.
