Beware of ‘Greedflation’ ⛔️

Rob Moore argues that official inflation figures hide "greedflation": price hikes by dominant corporations with little competition. Liquid fuel is up 122%, natural gas 98.5%. He recommends shopping independent businesses, moving money into inflation-beating assets, and building multiple income streams.

Beware of greedflation. I believe you're being lied to about the reality of inflation and the cost of living crisis. I believe there are other factors at play which is forcing your cost of living of food and fuel and heating and eating and energy and travel to go through the roof. The rents are going through the roof, and it's called— or one of the elements is— it's called greedflation. Have you ever heard the term greedflation? Do you know what greedflation is, or what they are calling this new phrase of greedflation? So you are led to believe that inflation is 9.3%. You are led to believe that inflation is the natural increases in costs and prices, but there are factors at play which are forcing your cost of living through the roof There's nothing really to do with inflation itself. So we have this illusion of a free market, you know, where there are competitive companies within a market. They compete with each other so that price regulates itself fairly because of free market competition. Except we don't really have free markets. Like, look at social media. Is that a free market, or are there about 3 monopolistic companies? Look at, um, fashion and brand. Is there a free market, or do, um, LVMH own most of the brands? Look at many of your, um, necessity products. Is it a free market, or do Procter Gamble and Unilever own them all? So Unilever, Procter Gamble, they own nearly all the products. So you have an illusion that there's multiple products and there's fair price competition, when in reality— yeah, some people call it price gouging— in reality, there's monopolies of price. So they can put your price of your commodities and the things that you need up just like that, and there's nothing you can do about it. So do you know liquid fuel's up 122%, natural gas is up 98.5%, vegetable fats are up 26%, garden furniture, holidays, travel, secondhand cars are all up 20 to 30%. Look at the car market. Volkswagen, that own VAG, Volkswagen Audi Group, own virtually all the cars. Now, in some respects, they've earned that right because they've been building a business and a brand for decades. But we have this area now where we don't have a free market, so it's not true capitalism, and we don't have free and fair competition. We have hidden protected monopolies. Like, look at the oil and gas companies— Exxon Valdez. I think it was Biden that said that Exxon— sorry, ExxonMobil— Exxon Valdez was the disaster. ExxonMobil, I think, um, Biden said something like they made more profits than God. You know, you've got Shell and BP who have made record profits. There's virtually no competition at the top. These wipe out the small and medium-sized businesses. In the small and medium-sized business, there's intense free and fair competition. Like, by the way, some of my prices of some of my programs in 15 years have gone down, not up. Um, one particular program has gone down from 2,000 to 1,000 over 15 years because it's a very competitive market and the market has forced it down. But in the big corporations, you don't have that. You have Procter Gamble and Unilever, they own everything. And people are calling this greedflation. And of course, you know, they're— they've got the governments in their pockets. So just wanted to bring this to your attention, give you a fair warning about it. I don't think it's fair and right, but I am a bit torn because I am an entrepreneur. I do believe in rewarding businesses that grow and that serve. And many of these big companies have been going for 100 years, and I don't really like criticizing companies for making profits because that's what they're supposed to do. And I wouldn't want to be artificially held back as an entrepreneur myself. But in the small to medium niche, it's the most competitive, the hardest to grow, the least support from the government. And, and by the way, it should be the most competitive because then that regulates prices and makes prices fair. But you've got this greedflation at the top where these massive companies own all the brands, and most people other than business people don't know about it. And so if they want to put the price of eggs and milk and nappies up, they could just bang it up. 10, 20, 30% overnight when the masses have a cost of living crisis. So this is called greedflation. You must be aware. You should know the brands you buy and the things you buy. You should know who owns them. You should probably support small to medium enterprises where you can, because in the small to medium enterprise there is bloody very strong competition on price. And that actually benefits you. But if you can more support them and buy from them, then we can probably change this. Because if everyone stopped buying— I'm not saying you should, by the way, I'm not on a campaign against the big brands, but you know, yeah, Kellogg's, Nestlé, LVMH, Procter Gamble, Unilever— if you, if you stop buying from them and you started buying more from the independents then they have to compete fairly with price, or they'll just go buy up the independents. But at least the independents get some fucking money. So you can actually do something about this, and it helps you and it helps them. Okay, so here's a few little ways you can, um, not just survive but thrive through what people are calling greedflation. I didn't make up that phrase, by the way. Uh, so number 1 is shop independent. Shop small business, buy from small business, buy from medium business. That's not number one thing you can do. Number two is be aware of all the brands that you buy and that you own, and just be aware that you might be feeding this greedflation. Number three is you don't believe the story that inflation is 9.3% or 12.3%. It's fucking way more. Let me just say it again: liquid fuel up 122%, natural gas, 98.5%. Vegetable fats, 26%. Garden furniture, holidays and travel, secondhand cars, all 20 to 30%. Don't believe the bullshit that inflation is 9.3%. Whatever they say inflation is, you should probably double or triple it to get realistic. The third thing you've got to do is you've got to protect yourself from inflation, which means you've got to get out of cash and you've got to put cash into inflation-beating assets. It means that you've got to bang up your revenue and your income net 20 to 30% a year, probably for the next 2, 3, or even 5 years, as inflation's going to go up and up and up. You need to build assets that produce recurring income. You need to be somewhat decentralized financially, i.e., you've got multiple streams of income from multiple unrelated sources, from sources that aren't maybe controlled by other people. So these are some of the things that you need to do to beat greedflation. And, um, number one is you've got to learn. You've got to learn what, um, monopolies are out there. You've got to learn what prices really are. You've got to be, um, very cognizant and selective of what you buy, because actually not everything has gone up wildly. Some things have stayed the same or gone down, unfortunately, in the small business arena. Um, you've got to build assets because an inflation-beating asset One, will it— will always pay you. And two, it will always beat inflation no matter what inflation is. So these are— so you've got to learn. And then when you learn, you can earn multiple streams of recurring income, multiple unrelated assets, decentralized assets. Become an entrepreneur, start a side hustle, get your tax down, get your income up. Go Go and join. I'll see you there, because if you don't risk anything, you risk everything. And you need to be— you need to beat greedflation. You need to understand what greedflation is. Greedflation is where, um, there are monopolies in markets with big companies owning all the brands, and so they're able to just bang the prices up and there's nothing you can do about it because you can't buy anywhere else. And a lot of people think that we're in a free market, but we're not. Because if there's 100 products out there but actually there are 85 to 90 of them are owned by 2 or 3 companies, there is no free market. You just need to be aware of this. I'm not saying it's wrong that companies have bought up and own multiple brands. I'm just saying you should be aware of it, and you should support the small business, and you should buy from small and medium-sized businesses whose prices are probably getting wiped out because of these big brands. Uh, and you buying from independents will help price competition. So some things to think about. So thanks for tuning in. Go and join Rob.team, typing R-O-B dot T-E-A-M. It does seem unfair that when we're in a cost of living crisis, some of these massive brands are making record profits, but it's a strange world that we live in, and, um, you just got to educate yourself. So the better education you have, the more money you're going to be able to make, or the more you're going to be able to protect yourself from this cost of living crisis. Someone even called me the doom monger of Europe. And what a lot of media outlets do is tell you all the things that are going wrong and perpetuate the fear, but they don't give you the solutions. And I'm here, I always give you the solutions. Try and be realistic, i.e., tell you what's really going on, because I'd rather you know than not.
