Biggest Strike in History Today ⛔️

Rob Moore reacts to the NHS and ambulance workers' strike, the biggest in the service's history. Nurses are demanding above-inflation pay rises around 10-15% while the government says it's unaffordable. Moore argues the system is broken and calls for radical change.

The biggest strike in history starts today. My anger has turned to sadness because today marks the biggest strike in nursing and NHS history, possibly one of the most underpaid and undervalued professions absolutely vital to us all in possibly its worst state. And people love to blame big corporations and billionaires and greedy capitalists, but it's the government that pay the nurses or don't pay the nurses. And so in my view, the government are solely responsible And today, um, many nurses and the ambulance services are on strike on a massive walkout, the biggest walkout in the history of the NHS. This is one of the lowest points in the UK that I have seen. Just think that only serious emergency cover will be offered Think how many people may die today, or, um, you know, may not be able to be seen and may have diagnoses that they desperately need. How many people died in lockdown because they couldn't get in the NHS? And now we're out of lockdown again, the NHS is so under-resourced, so underfunded, even though the NHS is the biggest governmental expense, i.e., taxpayer money. The, the most single area that taxpayer money is spent in is the NHS. Yet, yet still it is underfunded, under-resourced, and now the biggest strike in its history. I don't know how lower the UK can descend, because every single week I'm seeing news and having conversations of raising taxes and raising prices and, you know, heating and electricity and gas. Massive profits for huge corpse-like Shell, yet most people can't afford their own bills. Homelessness on the rise. It gets worse and worse and worse. New stories of corruption seemingly on a regular basis. This country is ruined. There is no British Empire. So at the moment, the unions for the NHS and the ambulance service want an above-inflation pay rise. Alas, I think they're naive. They're never going to get it. I mean, look, inflation they say is around 10%, which means in reality it's 15%. So how can the NHS want anything less than a 15% in reality pay rise? They're never going to get it. Um, the UK government have admitted they can't afford it and they don't have the money, and that it would fuel inflation again. Because as soon as the NHS might get their above inflationary pay rise, everyone will want their above inflationary pay rise. So then prices will go up, then taxes will go up. We are in a vicious debt cycle. I would love your thoughts on this, by the way. What, what are the solutions here? How do we get out of this? So the unions want the Prime Minister to table a new pay offer. They want it to come to a swift close. They say they don't want to strike, but they do. If they didn't want to, they wouldn't, so not sure that's true. They say it's the last thing that the nurses wanted to do, to take industrial action. They say they've been forced into the walkout. No meaningful dialogue for a whole month from the government, and quote, The NHS is crumbling, people are dying, and this government is dithering. By the way, that's from the, um, NHS unions. The NHS unions have admitted that the NHS is crumbling, yet the NHS is the taxpayer's biggest expense. I think the NHS is ruined. I think that there needs to be a new system. I think there needs to be a complete overhaul of the government, an overhaul of the political system. Let me know what you think in the comments. The government say that the pay demands are unaffordable and it would fuel inflation. Now, people always ask me, Rob, why don't nurses get paid more money? I'm the author of the UK's best-selling book, Money. It doesn't seem fair, but here's the thing: it's the government that pay the NHS. By the way, if I had nurses that I was employed, I'd pay them more. I can. I'm in the private sector. It's the government who, you know, they control the wages of the NHS. So it's actually the public sector, the civil service, that is the great big bottleneck. The government are in £3.1 trillion in debt. They can't afford anything, although they can still afford all their own expenses, they can still afford their own pay rises, and they can still afford their own jobs. Far too many people in government, far too much money spent on just keeping this bloated government afloat, far too much money going on government debt, which is a debt spiral which will only end in insolvency or increased debt or bailout by the taxpayer, i.e., you. So you pay twice. You pay the debt off and then you pay to bail them out. To me, it's a double con. The public sector is fucked, the civil service is fucked, the NHS is fucked, the government is fucked. I don't know what the solution is other than radical overhaul of political system, radical overhaul of government, maybe even throwing the entire government out. I don't know. I'd like to see some business people and entrepreneurs and people with real-world economic experience in government to help fuel the economy again. I would love to see that, but can't see that happening. Not the elitist Etonian looking down at noses of entrepreneurs and small business owners. Oh no, you didn't go to Eton. Let me know what you think in the comments. But just a quick summary: the biggest strikes in history today on the NHS, mass walkout. They say they don't want to do it, but they're being forced. They've urged the PM to table an offer, who apparently the government aren't engaging and haven't for the last month. Um, the representatives of the nurses want an above-inflation pay rise. The government has said that that's unaffordable and it would fuel more inflation. And that's essentially the standoff. And I think it's a sad day for this nation. And I can't get angry now anymore about this because I'm just sad. I would love your thoughts on any solutions. Look, I'm not in government. I'm not sure. I can't solve this. I can share my opinion as an entrepreneur, someone who actually runs a real economy. A business is a real economy. The government knowingly and willingly trade insolvently, and they make it legal for them and illegal for us. They don't know how to run an economy. They don't know how to balance any books. They don't know how to invest capital. They don't know how to deploy resources. They've proven that. They just get more and more into debt, and something needs to change. I'd love your thoughts. And look, I can do my bit outside of government, um, and that is I can keep helping you, giving you education and knowledge, helping you start and scale your business, helping you, you know, maybe start a side hustle, get your tax bill down and your income up. And the good news right now is I'm, I'm in the middle of giving away £7,000 in cash, and actually at the end of that, in the next few days, I'm giving away another £10,000 in cash. So just write yes in the comments if you would like to enter to, um, maybe win £7,000 from me? Write yes in the comments if you'd like to then, um, as a natural extension, get entry into the £10,000 giveaway. So basically, over the next 1 to 2 weeks, I'm giving away £7,000 and then £10,000. You don't have to buy anything, there's no purchase that's required, you don't have to have bought anything from me. Um, just type yes in the comments and I'll give you access and entry. In fact, all you'll have to do is watch a YouTube video or listen to the equivalent on audio. So if you type yes in the comments, I'll give you access to the audio and the video. You can choose. All you have to do is watch and listen. It's the 7th anniversary special 2-part series that I've launched. I'll send you the second part, and there's a question in there that you have to answer. It's as simple as that. It's really easy. Um, Cece says you're already in. Lots of you I can see are saying yes. Kevin Abir, Nikki, Alta, Paul. So if you just type yes in the comments, I'll give you, um, access to either the YouTube episode or the podcast episode, or both. Listen or watch, whichever's easier for you. And then at the end, you'll just be, um, directed to a web page. You'll answer a question, and then you're in, and you might win 7 grand. And by the way, everyone who enters wins something special. I only announced that a couple of days ago, but everyone who enters will win something special. So I'm pleased to be able to give everyone a prize. And then at the end, you know, a week or so, I'm giving away another 10 grand, and that won't— you won't have to purchase anything for that as well. So this year I decided that 2023 was going to be one of the biggest giving years I've ever done. You know, I raised hundreds of thousands in one year when I broke the world record for the longest public speech. I have my own foundation, and I thought, you know what, I want to go big this year. So I've already given away 5 grand, 10 grand, and a car in the last 3 months. £7,000, £10,000. I've got a gift for everyone. So look, that's one of the ways I think I can help in this terrible mess that the country is in. So just type yes in the comments. I'll give you the YouTube and the podcast link and you can choose how you consume it. One simple question, then you'll get the £10,000 giveaway, then you'll all get a bonus. Andrew said yes, exactly, why not, I'll give it a try. If you don't risk anything, you risk everything, don't you? So let me know what you think about the biggest NHS strike in history, the mass walkout, only emergency services, the, the ambulance service Nurses are walking out too. The unions want a swift close. They say the government have not been listening to them for a month, so now they've walked out. They want an overinflation pay rise. The government are saying, well, that's unaffordable and those are unrealistic demands and it would fuel inflation. And let's be honest, the government haven't got the money anyway. So we are now at a standoff, an impasse. It seems like the whole of the UK is at an impasse, standoff. And every week it seems that this country gets worse. I would love your thoughts, and maybe let's discuss some solutions because it doesn't look like the government are very good at that. Thanks for tuning in, and remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything. Type yes in the comments if you'd like free access to a £7,000 giveaway this week, a £10,000 giveaway next week, a bonus gift for everyone on creating recurring income, all for just watching a YouTube video or listening to a podcast.
