Cost of Living Soaring (Again) ⛔️

In this impassioned YouTube monologue, the speaker decries the post‑COVID‑19 surge in the cost of living in the UK, citing soaring food, energy, travel and housing costs, and accusing the government and utility companies of profiteering. He explains how inflation—estimated at 30‑35% since 2020—combined with rising taxes (notably a 60% marginal rate for incomes between £100k‑£125k) has turned many six‑figure earners into de‑facto working‑class households. The presenter offers three “solutions”: emigrate, marry a billionaire (jokingly), or, most seriously, improve personal finances by launching a side‑hustle or a low‑cost company to reduce tax exposure. He promotes his own “Money School” platform, detailing its low‑price subscription model, masterclasses, and claims of teaching fundamental money‑making laws, tax reduction, and multiple income‑stream creation. The speaker frames money as a top life priority, warns of a potential cashless/“digital communism” future, and urges viewers to take personal responsibility, study money, and join his program to survive and thrive amid the crisis.

Cost of living is soaring again. As if we didn't have enough from lockdown 2020 and how electricity and energy shot up and doubled and tripled, even though those companies made record profits. Food soared through the roof. Do you know in my local co-op they put lockboxes on mature cheddar? I shit you not. They lockbox mature fucking cheese. This is the state of the nation. And you know, every day I do these lives, I think I want to do something positive and I can't fucking find anything. And I keep trying and I will try, and one day I'll do something positive and no one will watch it. So the new inflation figures have come out and they're shocked and surprised that inflation is higher than they expected. Well, I'm not shocked or surprised. I said when lockdown happened, I admit for the first couple of months I didn't really know what was going on, but you know, when they pumped in billions, in fact they probably have pumped in £800 billion, I thought, well, that's got to be paid back. That's going to ruin the country for at least a decade, if not more. We are going to be paying this for 10 years plus. And as you can see, things are getting worse and worse and worse and worse, and we will keep paying. And the October budget will come out, and then there'll be more taxes and more taxes. But then you've got inflation on top, which is essentially a tax because it costs you more to live. You get less. I don't know if you can hear that. Not by the sea. Okay, so Food, energy, airfares, train fares have all gone up more than expected, and fuel has come down less than expected. Doesn't surprise me one bit. So I got a single from King's Cross to Peterborough yesterday, £91. It takes 45 minutes. To get from King's Cross to Peterborough, and a single is £91. I mean, what is going on in the world? And now what's happening is otherwise fairly well-off people and middle-class people and people who've worked really hard and earn maybe a, you know, a six-figure salary, with the freezing of the thresholds and the huge inflation since lockdown 2020 and the increase in taxes and that £100,000 to £125,000 tax band, which is essentially effectively what they call a nominal tax rate of 60%. What's happened is six-figure earners are now basically the working class because at least at the, the lower end you've got a lot more tax breaks. Um, you know, you don't have to pay tax on your first £12,000 and odd grand and then there's a pair of you, and then you pay smaller amounts of tax working up. So I mean, there's a good argument actually that it's the lower tax brackets that should be charged more tax, not the higher tax brackets. And because the higher tax brackets are paying 60% between £100,000 and £125,000, you add inflation into that and no one's got any money left. And this is the reality. And I reckon that since 2020, inflation's been at least 35%. I.e., the total inflation, cumulative inflation since 2020, it's probably been 35%. Some sources say 27%, some say 33%. I always think inflation figures are more than they tell you, because why would they tell you everything? And of course, inflation is about what your living costs cost. And if you've gone from a variable, a sort of a 1.5%, 2% mortgage to a 6% mortgage, Well, your lifestyle inflation is 50%. Madness. And this is all going on right now. And look, there's two things you can do about it, really. You know, I do like to bring solutions. Number one is you can leave the country. Well, actually, there's three things. You could marry a billionaire, leave the country, marry a billionaire. You've probably got more chance of doing that than winning the lottery, I assume. Or Sort your finances out and beat lifestyle inflation, beat actual inflation, beat taxation, beat the cost of living crisis by starting a side hustle, launching your business. The only way you can ever get your tax bill down is by owning a business or a company, and people don't realize you can start them for less than £50 and you can start them within 48 hours probably, so it's easier than you think. Um, because look, I hate what's going on in, in the UK. I hate how they've ruined the economy. I hate how they've ruined the country. I'm one of the lucky ones though, in that I have got enough money to ride this out. And I've been investing for nearly 20 years, and you know, I've had to use some of those investments and, you know, what you store, um, just to weather the storm. And I'm one of the lucky ones. And okay, I've worked for it, but I think that you should work for it. And, you know, I think you should change your behaviors around how you see money. And I think you should see money much more important than you used to. I think after health and maybe relationships with your loved ones, money is the most important thing in your life. Are you treating it that seriously? Are you making money the top 3 priorities in your life? Because it is the tool we've agreed we universally exchange value. So if we don't have any money, we can't exchange value. Can't receive value and everything's costing so much and now they're locking up mature cheese at the co-op. That's how fucking fucked everything is. So I suggest you take money more seriously. You study it more. You listen to podcasts, you read books, you follow my content.
