Do you need college/uni to be successful? š¤

Rob Moore argues that college is essential for medicine, law, and accounting, but useless for entrepreneurs. He spent five years on an architecture degree he never used, then built wealth through property and self-education. His alternative: rob.team, a membership platform costing pounds per month instead of 100k in university debt.

So do you need to go to college or university to be successful in life? Do you need a diploma, a degree, a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences, or a master's or a doctorate in order to be successful in business, in entrepreneurship, and as an individual? Well, the actual answer is It depends. Now, lots of people have very strong views on this, but I believe their views are too one-sided, out of context, and I believe the answer is specific to you. And I'm going to spend the next few short minutes explaining who I think should and shouldn't go to college, university, get a degree, get a diploma, etc. So if you want to be a great doctor, dentist, lawyer, accountant, etc., going to college or getting a degree or going to university and getting your master's would be a very smart move, even though it might not be fair and it might be elitist that certain colleges and certain schools and the degrees one has from a certain establishment, the reality is that can open doors for you. Like, look at our government. Eton, I will have you know. Most of them went to Eton. If you didn't go to Eton, you're not getting in. So actually, the things that are civil in service, even if they're not necessarily a civil servant, more public sector then getting a degree and going to college and uni, I think, is very smart. However, you should also learn to be an entrepreneur. You should learn the principles of success in your own open university, the university of in the car listening to audiobooks, the university of in the gym listening to Audible, the university of Google, the university of Rob Moore, the University of YouTube, the University of Personal Development and Entrepreneurial Education from business people and entrepreneurs who've been there and done it. Because let's say you want to be a doctor, dentist, lawyer, accountantā yeah, you can make good money, and yeah, you can be a success, but if you want to be really big in those areas, you have to own the firm. And if you want to own the firm, you've got to work on the business not in the business. You are no longer a solicitor, accountant. You are a business owner and an entrepreneur. So if you want to be a business owner, an entrepreneur, you want to create multiple streams of recurring income, you want your own businessā I'm sorry, but school degrees, colleges, and unis are mostly shit for that. I went to university, I got a degree. I don't even tell anyone about it. Because I don't even think it's anything good. I got a degree in architecture learning from tutors who didn't have an architect's practice. They weren't practicing architects, yet they were my tutors at university. And I got a degree in architecture and it was absolutely useless, and I've done nothing with it, nothing at all. I learned more in 9 months working for a property company about property and property design and property refurbishment and ownership and management than I did in a 3-year degree. So actually, the best kind of degree if you want to be an entrepreneur, if you want to make money, if you want to be a business owner, if you want to have your own enterpriseā go and work for an entrepreneur. Go and work for a business that has a founder that built a business, uh, because your college lecturers and tutors have not built and run a business, or they did it so long ago and now they've retired. That's why they're tutoring. You can't run a business and be a full-time tutor. What is it that they say? Those that can do, those that can't teach. And whilst I don't fully agree with that, there is a lot of that in our school, college, and university degree system. So the kind of university degree you need is the University of Life degree. You need to self-develop, self-learn, personal development. Because you cannot rely on a college or a university to help you be an entrepreneur. Now I know there are real estate degrees, I know there are enterprise schools, there's London School of Business, I know that there are degrees for being an entrepreneur, but honestly, then that's nothing compared to starting your own business, going and working as a protĆ©gĆ© or shadowing for an entrepreneur, or working your way up in the ranks of a proper company before you go and start your own business. You can listen to all my books on Audible: Money, Life Leverage, Start Now, Get Perfect Later. You can listen to my hundreds and hundreds of podcasts on Disruptive Entrepreneur, now changed name to Disruptors. And you can self-educate. Traditional education might make you a living, self-education should make you a fortune. I think that was Zig Ziglar or Jim Rohn. Rest in peace, both of those legends. So that's my thoughts. Let me know what you think. Should you go to school or uni or college to get the degree if you want to be successful? Yes or no? Let me know in the comments. Please also share this because I think there's a lot of people that think that going to get a degree is the answer. Most people are going to get a degree because their parents want them to. So their parents are living vicariously through their children. Their children are living the parents' dream, not their own dream. Might not be right for you. Now look, if you want to learn how to recite stuff, if you want to learn how to learn what's in a manual, get a degree. That being said, if you want to be a doctor, don't just take the knife and start cutting. Hmm. Now if you would like to self-educate, if you would like to teach yourself to be an entrepreneurā oh, here's another thing, actually I'll tell you about that in a minute. I've got one more thing you must remind me about. This is really important, it's about the fees. Um, so, um, if you would like to self-educate, to teach yourself to be an entrepreneur, to learn to start and scale your business so you don't have to get six figures, $100 grand or more, in debt at college, then you can join my members area called rob.team. The link is rob.team. If you open a browser right now as I speak and just type in rob team. You can basically get your own entrepreneurial degree, you know, without the official diplomas, for a fiver a month, for the cost of a large coffee. Now I can say this because I'm your tutor, uh, and I have done more than a quarter of a billion in revenue in the last 15 years. My, my property portfolio is worth Ā£37 million. Um, I've just done a development which is about Ā£20 million. I have 1,550 tenants, make many millions a year, have the UK's largest training business, wrote the UK's best-selling book on money called Money, one of the top entrepreneurial books called Life Leverage. None of that's a brag, that's just a fact. Name me a tutor at university who's got that kind of CV and I will eat my CV. So exactly, Anita, if you go to rob.team A university degree will cost you 100 grand all in for 5 years. This is a fiver a month. This is the cost of a large coffee, and you can get 15 pieces of premium content from me every month on starting your business, scaling your business, getting better financial education and knowledge, creating multiple streams of recurring income, building digital assets, and monetizing your personal brand. Thank you for the kind comments. So the link is rob. Team. Go and open a browser right now, join rob.team. You can cancel anytime once you've joined. I've got various masterclasses either recorded already or coming up on rob.team. So in a couple of weeks' time, I've got the 21 Ways to Monetize Social Media masterclass, a whole day's course on the 21 different income streams you can create from social media. I'll prioritize them top to bottom, easy to hard, um, quick to slow. And you can learn them all. And this would be a $500 course which you're going to get completely for free, but only if you're a Rob Dot Team member. You can't get that course at university. There's no one at university as a tutor that's teaching how to monetize social media. Yeah, I make tens of thousands a month on each channel. Sometimes I make hundreds of thousands on channels like Facebook, on membership platforms, on YouTube, etc. And I'm going to teach you how to do all of that on the Social Media Monetization Masterclass coming up in a couple of weeks, but only for Rob.team members. The link is rob.team. There's no clickable link in the comments, so you have to open a browser and type in rob.team. It's really easy to join. You can cancel anytime. Um, here's the thing about college and university is you're going to be Ā£100 grand in debt and you're not guaranteed a job. How mad is that? That you could be Ā£100 grand in debt, 5-year degree, you know, you paid for your halls of residence, your accommodation, your living, your degree, etc. And then you're not guaranteed a job, or you might even only get a $25,000 a year job, and you could have that debt for 30 years. I mean, how crazy is that? Whereas 15 times a month from me, you get premium entrepreneurial content on rob.team for just a fiver, and you can cancel anytime. In fact, I've got the Recurring Income Summit coming up in about 3 weeks, which is a 2-day live event. It's a $1,000 online course. And you can get it completely for free joining rob.team. Uh, and I've got the founder of Netflix keynote speaking and someone who sold a quarterā no, a half billion, 500 million books, as well as many other experts on building digital and recurring income. So that's all at rob.team. Now you don't have to want to be an entrepreneur, you don't need to be an entrepreneur, you might want a part-time business a side hustle, or you might just want to get good career progression and go from sort of management to leader to MD to CEO to chairman within a company. Um, and you know, if you want to be a lawyer, own the firm. That's the way to roll. So let me know what you think in the comments. Do you think you need to get a college degree or, um, you know, go to university to be successful? What's the best kind of university? An actual uni or the university of life? Or the University of Working for an Entrepreneur, the University of Self-Education. Traditional education will make you a living, self-education will make you a fortune. And you can self-educate for just a fiver a month, the cost of a large cup of coffee, just one per month, cancel anytime at rob.team. R-O-B dot T-E-A-M. What else do we do? We do, um, 2 Make Cash Challenges a year, um, so 5 or 7 days, I give you 2 or 3 modules a day to challenge you to put cash in the bank. Uh, we do live meetups and Mindset and Money events. I've got three live meetings coming up in the next four months for my Rob.team members. I've got, um, something very special I've just found out today about that I'll announce in a couple of days' time to Rob.team members. So the link is rob team. Just open a browser, go join right now because I gotta get out of here. Now I've got Alan here who said I'm dyslexic. Do you know what? Going to school or university and being dyslexic is hard, but learning to hustle and sell on the streets and learning, um, you know, business the self-education way and listening to audiobooksā you know, you can buy Kindles now and get the, the, um, feature where the words just get spoken to you, and that's great if you're dyslexic. And actually, I know many dyslexic people who are wildly successful in business and really brilliant at selling because they had to make up in people skills and selling skills and sort of communication and rapport skills. They had to make that up because they had learning difficulties. So actually, the school system probably is not built for dyslexic or people with learning difficulties, but self-education in audiobooks and the university of life and mentors and entrepreneurs and working in entrepreneurial companies This is by far, I believe, an easier, quicker, and better way to be really successful if you don't like to learn the school system, if you're not good at memorization, if you sort of have ADHD, attention deficit of learning from textbooks. I mean, the school system's so outdated in that regard. I've gotā by the way, some people can't make an accurate assumption or split test because they didn't do both. They either got a degree and they're not successful, or they are successful and they didn't get a degree. But I got a degree and it was useless, and actually only really learned how to make money working for an entrepreneur in a firm and learning on the ground to be an entrepreneur. And that worked for me, and I hope it can work for you too. Well, I know it can, especially if you join, join rob.team. 15 pieces of premium content a month for start and scale up entrepreneurs. If you want to make money, if you want to build, um, digital and recurring income streams, multiple streams of income, if you want to get better financial education and knowledge, build a personal brand, monetize social media then go right now to rob.team. R-O-B dot T-E-A-M. I keep reading it out because I can't hyperlink it here, and I'll see you there. And you know, I want to help as many people on this planet start and scale their business, get better financial education and knowledge. That's why rob.team is only a fiver, and that's why you can cancel anytime. So even if you live in the developing world, I've got members in, what, 100 countries probably. I've got people who, you know, a fiver is, you know, not an insignificant amount of money. And I take that really seriously, and that's why it's priced very low so it can help you get started. Because once you're at a certain income level, then you know you've got the affordability to grow. Thanks for tuning in. Hit the share button, let's get the discussion going. School, uni, degree, diploma, master'sā is it good, or should you self-teach and learn from entrepreneurs? Let me know in the comments. Cheers. And remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
