‘Economy Will Get Worse’ (no sh*t) 🙄

In this monologue, Rob Moore argues that official UK recession statistics mask the true depth of economic hardship, citing a 0.3% quarterly GDP decline, inflation likely nearer 20‑25%, stagnant wages, rising interest rates, and a sharp property price drop of 15% locally. He contends the UK is already deep in a recession, possibly heading toward a depression, and that this downturn creates unique opportunities for entrepreneurship, property investment, and side‑hustles, drawing parallels to the 2008 crisis where distressed assets could be bought cheaply. Moore leverages his personal track record—over $150 million in revenue, 360 properties, 1,250 tenants, and a 16‑year business career—to promote his subscription platform, Rob.team, which offers a library of courses, masterclasses, and live sessions for under £0.20 a day. He repeatedly urges viewers to enroll immediately, emphasizing that waiting for a market bottom will cause missed opportunities, and that managing emotions and risk is essential for financial freedom.

Stop! Breaking news! It's official! The UK Chancellor has said the economy will get worse before it gets better. Well, duh, no shit, as we say in England. Sherlock! So the last quarter has reported now negative growth in the economy, 0.3%. Uh, 2 negative growth quarters, so half a year of negative growth, creates an official recession. But here's the thing they're not telling you in the media: you could have 0.1% this quarter negative growth, 0.1% last quarter negative growth, and that's officially a recession. But it's not much negative growth. Or you could have 3 quarters of 0.1% negative growth and then a quarter of 2% negative growth. That's not a recession. So actually, official recession statistics and definitions mean virtually nothing whatsoever. What is relevant to you is your overall relative spending power. So the value of your money relatively, and therefore your relative quality of life. And if inflation is 14.1%, that's what they're telling you, it's probably more like 20. And if wages are going up nowhere near in line And if employment is now on the rise, and if interest rates are now on the rise, and if the property market is now crashing— I would probably say yes, actually. 15% in 2 months, the market has gone down locally to me. 4% in 2 months national average, which includes all the higher-end properties, which will drop later. And slower. Sean Paul thinks inflation is more like 25%. Then of course you've got the soaring cost of food, the soaring cost of heating, the soaring cost of living. So you've got all of this stuff. So in reality, we are way deep into a recession already, way deep. And it is stating the obvious— well, duh— that it's going to get worse before it gets better. Now look, A few people have been saying, "Oh, Rob, you're the doom monger. You're bringing the fear. You're perpetuating the media panic and propaganda." No, no, I'm not. I'm giving you what I believe to be the reality. And the reality is things are much worse off than negative 0.3% in the last quarter. And apparently we're not yet in recession, but you might as well accept the fact that we're balls deep into the recession, knee deep into the recession. And it could last for many years, and it could become a depression. And this is not me scaring the shit out of you. This is me telling you how it is. In my local area, the property prices corrected 15% in 2 months. Sold prices. Reality. And in reality, your spending power is down at least 20% in the last year when you add inflation, heating, food, etc. Uh, Chris has said knee-deep, but it's going to be neck deep. So is this good or bad? It's neither. It is what it is. Economies grow, economies recede. They expand, they contract. There are bubbles, they burst. There is booms, there is busts. This is economic cycles. So you can actually look back through previous cycles and see what happened and learn some lessons from previous cycles. So for example, in the 2008 recession, the property market dropped almost 30% in about a year, and therefore you could buy lower-priced, higher-yielding, higher cash flow assets. Many companies struggled and went bust, so you could enter into a market more competitively with less friction than before, or you could purchase companies that are struggling and turn them around. Great time to start a business, great time to grow when others, um, had been knocked off their perch. We found that the massive mainstream central banks really struggled, so you could have challenger banks that could start. And right now we've got massive big tech companies that are struggling, so You as a small-time enterprising entrepreneur, probably easier and better to start now than it would have been 2, 3, or 5 years ago when big tech had a monopoly. Big tech companies— Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, etc.— massive layoffs, huge challenges, trillions wiped off their company valuations. Sonia has said, I'm starting my business again. It might be one of the best times to start a business. It's certainly a better time now to get into property, whether it's your first-time buyer or an investor or for your pension. Certainly better now than it was 2 months ago, probably going to be better through 2023 than it was through 2022. So this shit is real, and there are equally balanced upsides. Maybe it's the perfect time to start your business. Maybe it's the perfect time to build your pension. Maybe it's the perfect time to start a side hustle. Maybe it's the perfect time to get into real estate. Maybe it's the perfect time to start your online business. Maybe it's the perfect time to start investing in assets. Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe. But when all is said and done, more is said than done. And to know and not to do is not to know. So I'm just telling you that the economy right now is quicker, easier, better, lower friction, and more opportunity for my training companies and my real estate investing than it was even pre-lockdown and certainly through lockdown. So actually, this is a great time to be enterprising, creative, disruptive, innovative, or even to just start now and get perfect later. So what are you waiting for? If you're waiting for the perfect market and the bottom of the economic cycle, you will miss it. You will look back, you'll spin around, you'll be dizzy, you missed it, and then it's too late.
