Big, big news. Elon Musk has just bought a very large stake in Twitter. Now, it was recently he seemed to be criticizing Twitter. I will quote, he says that free speech is essential to a functioning democracy. Do you believe Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle? He actually tweeted this on Twitter even though he is now the largest stakeholder in Twitter. So he's just bought a 9.2% stake. Uh, Musk is worth an estimated $273 billion, and he's just bought 73.5 million shares in Twitter. That was filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The news prompted Twitter's stock to soar by more than 26%. Um, so obviously the market's gone crazy, and that's made him $1.2 billion in 3 weeks. Now, there's a few things that interest me about this. Number 1 is he's been critical of Twitter recently. Um, I think he feels that maybe they are not, um, fully functioning in free speech. So that certainly therefore surprised me that he's just bought 73.5 million shares. He also did a poll on Twitter asking people to vote onā well, he uses Twitter a lot to get people to vote. He used Twitter to get people to vote if he should basically pay a massive tax bill, sell a load of shares in his company, and they voted yes, and he did. And he paid the biggest tax bill that anyone has ever paid ever in the history of the world. Um, so yeah, he uses Twitter to create a lot of traction, and he seems to stand by the polls that he does on Twitter. But he said, the consequences of this poll will be important, please vote carefully, um, when he put a poll up on Twitter about, um, whether Twitter adheres to free speech. Obviously, Twitter canceled Donald Trump. Let me know in the comments what you think about that, by the way. Um, should Donald Trump have been canceled from Twitter and Facebook? Did you see my live video earlier on Facebook where I talked about the Truth Platform, the social media, um, the disruptor to big tech from Donald Trump? But it's had a bit of a slow, jittery start. So, um, Elon Musk also said in a separate tweet that he was giving serious thought to launching his own social media platform. So this is why I find this really interesting. He's been fairly critical of Twitter, um, arguing whether they are truly, um, a free speech platform, which he believes is essential in a functioning democracy. Um, and he's talking about launching his own social media platform because he calls himself a free speech purist, yet he is now the single largest shareholder in Twitter. Elon Musk is this kind of guy where he really gets you to think. I actually thought, oh, is he trying to takeā is he doing a hostile takeover? I actually think if Elon Musk was involved in Twitter or was advising Twitter, I think that would be quite good for Twitter. Twitter kind of started to die, didn't it? I would say before COVID people were pretty upset with Twitter, thought it was a bit of a doom-mongering platform full of trolls. Um, I actually think that the lockdown and COVID and Brexit and the wars have been pretty good for Twitter because obviously this isā a lot of this is quite bad negative news, which is pretty good for Twitter. Uh, then obviously, um, a lot of the, the crypto and the NFT space and Twitter Spaces is on Twitter as well. So Twitter, I would say, have had a little bit of a rebirth. They're a phoenix from the ashes, and I think this is quite good how we've got a lot of these competitive social media platforms. You know, you've got Facebook that have been disrupted by Clubhouse and TikTok. Facebook see TikTok as their main competitor, but they've fought back and, you know, they're offering more monetization tools and they're launching all these new features like the audio rooms. Clubhouse came and it disrupted a lot of the video and text and image-based social media platforms with audio. And then Twitter launches Twitter Spaces and Facebook launched Facebook Audio Rooms, and there's Wisdom and Fireside and Green Room. So I like this competitive element on social media. I like accountability that people like Elon Musk are creating by being proponents of free speech. I did actually like the thought of Donald Trump rucking in and launching the Truth social media app, and maybe more disruption and accountability to big tech. Although the paradox is that the Truth App might end up becoming big tech, because you can't imagine Donald Trump having a small little challenger app. And then of course all the irony of Donald Trump calling it truth, and then him coming and fighting against big tech social media and getting canceled and deplatformed and banned. Um, I just think this is actually quite an exciting space in social media. So just the breaking news is that Elon Musk has just bought a huge stake in Twitter. He's become the largest shareholder. He just bought 9.2%, 73.5 million shares. Um, the stock of Twitter went up 26% after the news of this, which is obviously huge. It meant he's made $1.2 billion in 3 weeks. Apparently this is a passive investment for Elon Musk, more for the long term. Um, but I kind of thought, hmm, with all the news of Elon Musk somewhat criticizing Twitter on Twitter and doing polls about Twitter on Twitter and pushing for freedom of speech and talking about launching his own social media platform, I thought, oh, is there more to this than meets the eye? Is Elon Musk up to something? Let me know what you think in the comments about that, by the way. I think this is really interesting news. I do think you should share this news across your social media. Just hit the share button. Um, because usually when Elon Musk does something, um, there's some important things beneath it, some strategy. I think I, I like how much of a free speech purist he is. Even when he put the satellites into Ukraine and gave the Ukraine internet, which obviously was an amazing move. All these people criticizing billionaires, calling them grifters, getting rid of, you know, tax all their money. Um, yeah, he's the only one that gave the Ukraine internet when they didn't have it. Um, but apparently some countries, some governments were approaching him trying to get him to basically, um, silence Russia, and he said, I'm not doing it, I'm not doing it. Call me a free speech purist, but I'm not doing it. And I really admired that about him. Um, I said in a previous live, I would love it, love it if Elon Musk launched a social media channel, because I actually do think it would be a free speech channel. Um, I would love it if, um, Donald Trump could get the Truth Social media app up and running, because I do think that whilst I enjoy social media from some of the big tech platforms, we need this competitive free market. We mustn't be canceled, we mustn't be deplatformed, we mustn't be banned for speaking our mind and our opinion. We must preserve free speech at all costs. I think this is absolutely vital. Um, so let me know what you think about Elon Musk becoming the largest stakeholder in Twitter by 9.2%. He's just bought 73.5 million shares. He's just made $1.2 billion, albeit in paper. Um, when the news came out, uh, Twitter's stock price went up 26%. What do you think he's up to? Do you think he's going to launch his own social media platform? It's interesting that he's quite publicly critical of, um, Twitter and if it's pure free speech platform, which of course it's It's not because it banned Donald Trump, yet he's in as the biggest stakeholder and he's talking about building his own social media platform. Um, yeah, exactly. Judas said that Elon Musk is not afraid to speak the truth. So I would love your thoughts on this. I think it's big breaking news. I'll keep you up to date on what's going on. Let me just do a quick summary. Why do I do these kind of videos? One, because I think our freedom of speech is vital. We must stand up and speak out to preserve our freedom of speech. Too many people getting canceled, deplatformed. I mean, Will Smith You know, Sony and Netflix are pausing the movies they're doing with him. They may end up canceling him, you know, for a slap. I'm not saying that was right, but to me, that isā it's too much. Joe Rogan, mainstream media tried to shut him down. It's like if you don't agree with mainstream media narrative, you're going to get canceled. If, you know, if you say the words COVID or lockdown or vaccine in your videos, you could get canceled or banned on Facebook, on YouTube. On, you know, and this is wrong. We must be able to speak our opinion. We must have free speech. We mustn't be canceled or deplatformed or demonetized or restricted, because the problem with that then is mainstream media and big tech create control over us. It affects things like voting when they can just basically extend or reduce reach and have too much political influence and power. It suffocates all of our opinions and our voice, and it's the opposite of democracy. And this, we must stand against this. And I like that Elon Musk does. And Elon Musk is not really a popularity contest kind of guy. I think he makes good decisions when it comes to preserving his free speech, like not using his, um, you know, satellite internet that he had, um, to silence Russia but use it to give Ukraine backup internet. I thought that that was a really, um, a good pure move by him. And obviously he's a billionaire and people say, oh well, billionaires, take all the money off them, tax 'No one needs billionaires.' Well, name me someone else who, um, gave the Ukraine internet when war started. That would be no one. Name a zero heir that could afford to do that. That would be no one. So that's why I create these videos. So please hit the share button. Elon Musk has bought a huge stake in Twitter. He's bought 9.2%, 73.5 million shares. The news of that, um, hit, uh, Twitter's stock price. It soared by 26%. He made $1.2 billion. Um, it's considered a passive investment, but I'm wondering if there's something behind there. Is he gonna try and influence some control in Twitter? Maybe he's gonna try and help Twitter become a free speech platform. Um, is he gonna set up his own free speech platform? Because he said he is giving serious thought to creating a new social media platform. He's been quite critical of Twitter on Twitter about their non-pure freedom of speech platform. Thanks for tuning in. It's breaking news. Hit the share button and remember this: if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
