Elon Musk to make algorithms transparent š¦¾

Elon Musk pledged to open-source Twitter's algorithm after buying it for $44 billion. The EU's Digital Services Act now requires tech platforms to disclose how their algorithms work, with fines up to 6% of annual revenue for non-compliance. If Twitter follows through, YouTube and Facebook may have to do the same.

2 pieces of huge news which could change the online world and really benefit you and anyone for free speech. So Elon Musk has just purchased, or agreed to purchase, Twitter. You probably saw that. I did a video on that. This is amazing. The thing I'm actually the most interested in is not his purchase of Twitter not just about getting rid of bots and trollingā this is obviously hugeā is the part where he said he'd make the algorithm open source. I'm going to come back to that in a moment because I saw some really good news which I think you'll want to hear. So the EU has just, or is just, updating digital legislation where part of this updating of legislation is to have algorithms more transparent and open source. And I think this is so, so important. We have no idea what these algorithms do, how they censor us, deplatform us, cancel us, what they, um, feed us in terms of media. I think most of us would agree that the media that we see is not balanced. It's one-sided. It could have political or financial bias. And I think this is really important that this should change. So, um, there's been an agreement to update the Digital Services Act, and I'm going to share with you some of those things. Um, it will force tech companies to take greater responsibility for content. Think this is important. Because here's the thing, content that probably should be bannedā fake trolling, hate speech, you know, scams and fraudulent productsā many of them and the bots that run them, they get away with it. But then pure free speech and all of our ability to share our opinions and our thoughts often gets cancelled or shadowed, or we get banned or censored. So the Digital Services Act is going to remove illegal content and illegal goods more quickly. Itā and this is bigā is going to explain to users and researchers how their algorithms work. Now this goes back to Elon Musk, because Elon Musk has said that he is going to make the Twitter algorithm Open source, open source algorithms. Hallelujah, praise the Lord! You should definitely hit the share button on that because we have no idea what these algorithms are doing to us. Like, sometimes my videos can get 1, 1.5, nearly 2 million views, and sometimes my videos can get 2,000 or 3,000 views. And here's the shame Or what is a shameā not my shame, a shameā some of my best content gets the lowest views. Some of my less quality, more newsjacky content gets the most views. I don't think it should be like this. I know the content I want to share with you. I know the content you want from me. And I also every now and again get a feeling for what content could get more viral, and it's the wrong way round. So the fact that these algorithms are now going to be open source, we're going to more know what the algorithms are and how they work. This is huge news. I really think this is really important. And finally, finally, we could say it, see a change in online content. So, um, the Digital Services Act goes on to say, um, they're taking stricter action on the spread of misinformation, and companies can be fined up to 6% of their annual turnover for non-compliance. That's going to be a tricky one. Who defines misinformation? Misinformation has been used as a weapon by mainstream media, and they use it to cancel you, ban you, and deplatform you because their advertisers don't like it. I've had it happen to me on Facebook Facebook and YouTube. It's happened to me. So that one is a little bit more for me unsure of how it's going to play out. But let's see what happens. Now, let me know what you think about Elon Musk buying Twitter. Many people said it wouldn't happen. I hoped it would. I did a little mini campaign to try and help it along. And it worked. Well, Elon Musk is buying Twitter for $44 billion, and he has said he wants an open-source algorithm. He wants to get rid of the bots and the, you know, the fake accounts. But he has said he's looking forward to engaging with these trolls and haters and critics because that is what free speech is about. Let me know what you think. Two big things are happening right now. Number one is new legislation is coming in that will have big tech and social media platforms have to explain their algorithm. And Elon Musk has bought Twitter and he said he will make the Twitter algorithm open source. Finally, some freaking transparency from big tech and social media. And hopefully with Twitter coming in and, you know, getting rid of all of the fake accounts and the botsā I guess a lot of social media platforms don't do that because it would halve their user baseā but getting rid of robots and spam bots, having open source algorithms and being purists for free speech. If Twitter leads the way, then YouTube and Facebook and Instagram and all the other channels will have to follow suit because the world is pissed off. The world is pissed off with canceling, deplatforming, banning, shadow banning. Um, it is pissed off with being silenced. Um, it is pissed off with being deplatformed. It is pissed off with mainstream media manipulation and control, and the political biases of narrative, and the shareholder value at all costs. And we are losing our free speech. And we must fight for our free speech. I think it's absolutely vital. So let's have these open source algorithms. Let's know how social media areā well, if there's open source algorithms, then maybe they can't control us. Good on you, Elon Musk. Good on you, EU legislation, the Digital Services Act. I will be sharing more content on this. Thanks for tuning in. Hit the share button and let me know what you think about open source algorithms and transparency of how social media channels, um, behave. Sonia said calm down and take a breath. I'm too excited. Yeah, and, um, this should help with free speech. Thanks for tuning in. Hit the share button. Gerard reckons that Facebook will never follow suit. This is a good point. Maybe they'll have to because Twitter's huge and Elon Musk is huger. And Twitter plus Elon Musk plus free speech plus open-source algorithmsā this could be the death of manipulative social media platforms and algorithms as we know it. And I really hope this is the case. Thanks for tuning in. Hit the share button, and remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything. Let me know what you think in the comments.
