Elon Musk: Work Long Hours, or Leave 😳

Rob Moore defends Elon Musk's demand that Twitter staff work long hours in the office or quit. Moore argues work-from-home culture breeds entitlement, warns that recession will punish lazy employees, and pitches his platform Rob.team as a way to build diversified income through courses and memberships.

Work long hours or leave. This is what Elon Musk has told all the staff at Twitter, and he is getting a massive backlash. Lots of people and brands are leaving Twitter, and lots of people are very critical of Elon Musk. I think he's a fucking hero. Hallelujah! We need someone of high global standing to say it how it is, and many big brands and companies and employers, they do not have the courage and they see it as a risk to speak in plain English. And here is what Elon is saying in plain English. Work from home is a joke. Get into the office, work hard, do your job, and we will pay you fairly. And I completely agree with this. And there's two things here which piss me off. Number one is that the very woke extreme left have turned Twitter into a cancer. And too many people have abused the work-from-home system, including many politicians in lockdown. And too many people feel entitled that you have to be sensitive to their feelings and their mental well-being and they want to do 20 hours' work and get paid 50 hours' worth of money. They— this is a complete joke. Here's why. Do you think with the budget coming today with spending cuts and tax increases, do you think being entitled and lazy and working half hours from home is going to fire up our economy and get us out of the looming 10-year depression. No fucking way. Work from home, WFH, should be work fucking harder. And the world is now rife, well, the Western world, not actually, in the developing world and in the Far East, man, they know how to work. They have a work ethic and culture, but bloody hell, a lot of people that come from Europe into the UK— and I can only speak for the UK— say that the UK are lazy bastards, they don't know how to do a proper week's worth of work. And this is my stark warning to you: if you don't work harder and you don't work longer and you don't work bigger and you don't work better in the next 2, 5, or 10 years, you are going to be fucking broke. You are going to be broke. I'm just warning you, mark my words, because today taxes are going to go up. Today budgets are going to be cut. And for 3, 5, or 10 years to come, your taxes are going to go up, inflation is going to go up, interest rates are going to go up, the economy is going to move into at least a recession, if not a depression. And yet there's all these people on Twitter saying, well, I just want to sit here and do 20 hours a week and get paid 50 hours a week, or I want to work from home, I just want to sit here and cancel everyone who's got an extreme opinion or I don't agree with. Good on Elon Musk for sticking his head above and risking ridicule by being honest and saying that. If we want to turn Twitter around, that I've just paid $44 billion for, you have to work harder and work in the office. Where has our work ethic gone? Our grind? You know, where is our consistency and persistence and relentlessness and hustle? Where has this gone? Where has it gone? Yes, I'm fucking triggered, Mark. I am. Because right now Because of— actually, do you know what? Yes, I think some people are lazy. A lot, actually. Yes, I think some people are entitled. A lot, actually. But the government is very much responsible for that as well as the people. Why? Because they locked us down. They gave furlough money out too easily and quickly. They basically rewarded laziness. And they showed that they don't have the work ethic either, so they're giving a really bad example to society. And actually, lockdown has created— it's also created a lot of actual real mental health issues, for sure. And so some people are trying to recover mentally, yeah, there's those, but some people have just got lazy. And, you know, some people say, oh yeah, well, you know, I work really hard from home. Most people don't. I'm sorry, I've got 145 staff and I know most people don't. And no one who's lazy working from home says, oh, actually, I'm really lazy working from home, you better bring me back into the office. No one's going to fucking admit it. So Elon Musk has stuck his head— in fact, here's the news, by the way. Here is the actual news. He sent an email to all of his staff Um, and he has said that, um, Twitter will need to be extremely hardcore in order to succeed. This will mean working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade. And he's basically asked them to click a link to say if they are committed to the new Twitter. And then he said, whatever decision you make, thank you for your efforts in making Twitter successful. So basically what he's saying is You want to work hard, you want to be part of a movement, you know, you want to be a high performer, stay at Twitter. You don't, leave. And I think that that's a really great message right now. I really do. I really do. By the way, when you work from home, you don't have the energy, the culture, you don't have the career progression, you don't get seen or noticed, you don't know what's going on, you know, in your company. So Here are my thoughts on it. Well, here are Elon's thoughts, and then here are mine. Elon tells Twitter staff, work longer hours, be an exceptional performer, or leave. And let's be honest, Twitter has failed. Twitter is a toxic, cancerous, woke, left, dying social media channel. So Elon Musk comes in, he's got to make radical changes, and that's what he's doing. Good on him for having the courage to do that. Good on him for putting it out there that you've got to work harder and longer and do more. Mark Zuckerberg said the same, you've got to work harder and longer and do more. Now look, if we were in prosperity, if we were in a boom, fair enough, work maybe a little less hours, fair enough, try working from home. In prosperity, that's fine, but in austerity and depression, it's the fucking opposite. And I've been working 16 hours a day. By the way, I wrote the book Life Leverage. I know how to outsource and leverage as good as anyone, and I've had many years in my 16 where I've not really particularly worked that much or worked that hard, or at least I've been very strategic and not operational and practical and tactical. And right now I'm working 16 hours a day because costs have gone up 30-35%, the government shut us down and basically made it illegal for us to do our work and our job. And even though I've navigated us through the lockdown and beyond and actually our company is still in good order, it's only because I had 16 years' experience. It's only because I had millions of pounds cash to ride through it. And it's only because I'm prepared to do the fucking work to make it work. And I'm just warning you fairly and honestly that we are in for a tough recession. It could be a depression. The government's already fricking ruined the country with lockdowns and these wars that are going on and the massive inflation, the massive undersupply, and now the Soaring interest rates and the £500 billion spent on lockdown and COVID. They've already fucked the country up and it's going to get worse, and now they're going to tax us more and spend less. This is real, by the way. I'm not being a doom-monger, these are just the facts. However, if you do work a bit harder, if you do work a bit smarter, if you are a bit more committed, you're going to win big. Because number one, you're not going to be one of the many who are fired. I cannot believe how many people who work, who think they're entitled to a 30% or a 40% salary raise, and they think they're entitled to work from home, and they think they're entitled to doing 3/4 of the hours. I cannot fucking believe that people are living in this fantasy world. And I tell you, as soon as supply catches up with demand, these people who have been overpaid and are underworking are all gonna get fired and they're gonna cry like babies. Now, Facebook have just let go of what, was it 13,000 staff? Amazon have just cut 10,000 staff. Twitter cut 75% of its workforce. Do you think they're the hard workers that got fired and let off? Do you think they're the hustlers, the grinders, and the loyal and the committed ones? No, they always keep their job. It's the entitled whingers, bitches, moaners, and people who want to work less and earn more. So I'm just saying how it is, or how I see it. So doesn't matter whether you're at the bottom or the top, if you do more than you're paid to do and you do the job you want, not just the job that you've got, then you will always be paid more. And if your company doesn't pay it, another company will headhunt you and they will pay it too. And this ethic has gone in the UK, and some of you in here have said it's gone in America too, and this needs to change. And good on Elon Musk. Now look, it's all very well me saying you've got to work harder, you've got to work longer, you've got to endure this depression, and it could be an opportunity, but you need to know the right business models because getting in the coal mines and working 70 hours a week ain't going to make you rich. It's not going to make you free. So, you know, having things like membership sites and doing content on social media and doing online courses and other business models like this, these are leveraged business models that won't just survive the lockdown, depression, recession, but will actually thrive through them. So you've got to pick the right business model. You've also got to make sure that you're not reliant on the system, i.e., you need a side hustle or you need multiple streams of income, not just one. You need your own assets, not just— if you have a government state pension and government bonds and your money in a savings account, the central banks and the governments completely control you, and as taxes go up, your earnings will go down. Whereas if you have real estate, gold, Rolex Daytonas, your own content, your own YouTube, your own membership site, it's the opposite. You have, um, decentralized and diversified income streams. So if you'd love to learn how to do all of this and go from employee to employed, from active earnings where you're paying most in tax to passive earnings where you're paying least in tax, if you'd like to learn how to do all of this then go and join Rob.team. There's so much content And instead of me charging you $100 for, say, a 2-hour masterclass, and $1,500 for, say, a 2-day masterclass— of which there are many of those in Rob.team— you get them all free just for being a member. And it's easy to join. You just open up a web page, any web page on the internet, and type R-O-B dot T-E-A-M. Rob.team. I'll see you in the members area. Because I'm just saying it how it is. Because I actually think that Elon Musk is a hero for doing this. Because in a world where many people think they're entitled to a living and to a big salary raise and working less and, you know, having their lots of time off for their mental well-being, Elon Musk is basically saying, no, you don't work from home, you work from the office. You come in, you work hard, you're an exceptional performer, and you'll be rewarded. And if you're not a hard-working exceptional performer, leave. And I'm saying to you, you need to be a hard-working exceptional performer if you want to keep your job moving forward through the depression. And you might have got a salary raise because of inflation, and you might feel like, oh, this is good because I've got lots of power. It will reverse and you will get fired when the market changes. I'm just telling you because the market's changing already. Facebook culling thousands of staff, Twitter culling thousands of staff, Amazon culling thousands of staff. I don't want it to be you. If you're employed. And if you're, um, self-employed and you're an entrepreneur, you have got to do a bit more and work a bit harder. I'm working 16 hours a day and I'm actually enjoying it. And I don't usually work 16 hours a day. I'm the guy that wrote Life Leverage, but I know that needs must because of the time that we're in is only temporary. But I don't want to risk the depression wiping me out or wiping my company out. So you just got to put a little bit more effort in and you will get rewarded, because more millionaires are made in a recession than any other time. So it is a great opportunity. So there you go, I've said my bit. If you agree, hit the share button. If you disagree, let me know in the comments what you disagree with. Uh, and, um, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
