Entrepreneurship is NOT for Everyone - The Truth

Rob Moore breaks down why entrepreneurship demands real sacrifice: strained relationships, irregular income, years of grinding. He went from £50k debt to deca-millionaire by 35 by building recurring digital assets and repurposing content across platforms. A £10/month subscription plan can yield £14-15k/month with consistent daily growth.

Hi, it's Rob. So people have been asking me recently, what's the cost of entrepreneurship? What are the sacrifices you have to make? And I wanted to share a few with you because you shouldn't go into entrepreneurship naive that you're gonna be your own boss and you're gonna make millions and you're gonna live the laptop lifestyle and do what you want when you want where you want with who you want. Motherfuckers, it doesn't work like that. That being said, everything you want in your life, it's probably more likely that you're going to get it being an entrepreneur, working for yourself, employing people, because you have leverage, you have scale, you have autonomy, you have speed. Like, imagine wanting a pay rise. Well, come back to me in a year for a review and I will tell you no. Or maybe we could talk about you having an inflationary rise next year. Oh, but wait a minute, your boss 'Your boss is not due for retirement for another 22 years, so come back in 23 years for a pay rise and a review.' Fuck off. So, look, you know, I became a millionaire between— I was £50,000 in personal debt in 2005. By 2006, I cleared it, and by the end of that year, I'd made £100 grand. And by age 31, I'd become a millionaire, and by age 35, I'd become a deca-millionaire. Now I don't say that to go, oh yeah, check Rob out, because you know I've got billionaire mentors. I mean, that's just numbers. But the point is, you— I couldn't have done that in a job. But there is cost and sacrifice of being an entrepreneur. Look at the fucking wrinkles, there they are, you can see them. I'm 42, I act like I'm 22, but I feel like I'm 92. So, um, right, number 1, the cost of entrepreneurship is time. You probably go from working 40 hours a week to 60 or 80 hours a week, but at least it's your business. At least there's no ceiling on the revenue, no ceiling on the promotions. You're building your own asset, a saleable asset and a scalable asset. So what's dating? Because when I started my business, I didn't know what dating was. I didn't have time for women or men or non-binary. I didn't have any time. So the cost when you start in entrepreneur— because people think, oh yeah, I just want to do 10 hours a week, Rob. Yeah, I just want to go down the beach in my bikini, smoking cigars, drinking piña coladas, 10 hours a week, 11 hours a week, no way. So they have this naive fantasy that they can do less. You know, you don't plant a seed down there and then come back the next day and go, where's my fucking tree? But a lot of people, they build their business like they can expect to have overnight success. So cost and sacrifice number 1 will be the time, the free time. It's fucking windy out here. Hope you can hear me okay. I don't know if back wind is better, I'll turn around. So now for me that cost was worth it because the upside of the evenings and weekends that I put in at the start have built me a $150 million sales training business, tens of millions of £100 million of value of property portfolio, millions in income, 18 books, many of them, anyway, who fucking cares? You don't care. But the point is, it was worth the sacrifice. So time. Now, a way around this is to merge your passion and profession and your vocation and your vacations. So I love talking about business and entrepreneurship. I love being on social media. I love authoring, podcasting. I love meeting really successful entrepreneurs. I'm interviewing another billionaire. Might be interviewing Arnold Schwarzenegger in a couple of days' time. That's definitely not confirmed, just saying, but we might be making that happen. Interviewing Jordan Peterson and David Icke again. They're badass, they are. So that's such a cool thing to do. I'd rather do that on the evenings and weekends than go in a bar, go to a barbecue and talk to a load of people who I have nothing in common with, or go out and get pissed and then feel hungover and fat and ugly and useless the next day. That's not how I want to spend my time. So yeah, the social life probably goes down. That's the second thing, the social and the relationships. That is a cost of entrepreneurship. So if social and relationships are more important to you, have those. Just accept the fact that you're going to earn 25 or 30 grand a year and just accept that. But I lost friends, I lost people quite close to me because entrepreneurship was really important. So if I ever was dating, I did have a couple of relationships where they, didn't maybe feel as important as they wanted to, and that was a cost, or tried to hold me back on that, and I don't really want anyone holding me back. Friends, oh, Rob's never fucking going out, Rob's so fucking boring, all Rob does is work, work, work, fuck all that. So yeah, you lose that, or you lose part of that. Now, how do you gain it in return? Because even though this live is called The Cost and Sacrifice of Entrepreneurship, there's an upside as well as a downside. I'm gonna walk back the other way again and see if it works. These guys are like, Rob's just— So I've met millionaires, no, I've met 500 millionaires, 100 millionaires, billionaires, and some of the cool, most successful, interesting people on the planet through my business and entrepreneurial ventures. Fucking take that all day long over a few pissheads at a barbecue. Not disrespecting anyone, that's their life, this is mine, this is what I want. So time is one cost, relationships is one cost, but the upside benefit is you get your time back. So I have about 80 staff in a couple of my training businesses. I also have— thanks for the squirrel. Yeah, shall I go and find my nuts in the woods? Anyway, so when you have staff and when you have outsourcers and when you build assets that create recurring income, then you buy your time back. And at times I work really fucking hard, and people who know me know that, but at times I also don't work hard at all. I traveled the world for a couple of years with my son 'cause he was one of the best golfers in the world when he was really young, and you do have that freedom once you've built your assets and your business and your staff and your automation to a certain point. So really, when it comes to entrepreneurship, It is kind of hard now, but that makes it easier later. Or if you go opt for the easy route now— oh well, you know, I'll just, um, I'll do a couple of hours a week, or I'll just stay in my job until I've earned enough money to quit— or, you know, if it's easy now, it's going to get harder later. What if we have another lockdown, lockdown 17.0? What if the taxes keep going up and up and up? What if the government fucking ruin the country? Or All three of those are quite likely. You need assets that create recurring income. You're not gonna, it's not gonna be good enough just having a job, you know, or not having assets. So we built up a lot of assets, my business partner and I. We've got real estate, I've got my personal brand. I think we have about 18 different income streams from our personal brand. A lot of them are similar, like ads and sponsorship from podcasts and YouTube, my own platform, a membership site, et cetera. So some of them are related, they're not all unrelated. I think we make about £350 grand a year from social media. No, £350 grand a month. Get your numbers right, Rob. £350 grand a month from social media ads and sponsorship and monetization revenue. There's overhead to that, but you know, that's a nice income stream there. And then Mark and I just had a meeting about one of our properties. It produces £500,000 a year in income. So nice, nice. I've got the fucking wrinkles to prove it. Um, all right, now relationships with, you know, people you actually want to be in love with. Um, I'm no fucking relationship expert, I'll hashtag just saying. So I definitely don't ever— I don't do religion, politics, or relationship content because I— you just don't want that from me. But the right kind of person that can be with an entrepreneur. It's quite hard being with an entrepreneur. Like, you don't want to be with me. Sorry, ladies, but you just don't. It is hard being with an entrepreneur. Lots of variety here, there, and everywhere. Evenings, weekends, you know, yada yada. Not the normal life. Have to deal with fires and emergencies and ever-growing challenges. We're often traveling the world. We're out there on social media. We get critics and trolls. So it takes a certain type of person to be with an entrepreneur. Someone has to love a go-getter, so a man or a woman on a mission. And a lot of people don't like that. It doesn't make them feel comfortable, or they want to be the most important person in the relationship, or they want the security. So, hashtag just saying. Okay, other costs and sacrifices you have to make in building business and entrepreneurship is how you get paid. So when you go and get a job, you'll do the work for 30 days and you'll get paid 1/12 of your salary, and then you'll do the work for 30 days and then you'll get paid 1/12 of your salary, and then you'll do 30 days and you'll get paid 1/12 of your salary. When you start as an entrepreneur, you might make no money for 3 months, 6 months, or a year, or you might make no money for 5 months and then take actually a bit of a lump. So I just earned £250,000 from one weekend's work. I earned £135,000 from one speech. But through the lockdown, Mark and I actually stopped drawing a salary from our main training companies just to ease the load on the company. So the money is lumpy and often delayed and less metronomic and consistent as an entrepreneur, but it's bigger. And you can have a one lumpy drawing that can pay a year's worth of salary or more. So that is the reality. But it's not— I don't know, maybe you can start making money from the start. I'm not— I'm an optimistic kind of guy. I think that, um, whatever you put your mind to, you can achieve. But it's also my job to be quite realistic with you because I don't want to fill people with false hopes and dreams. So for example, all the old-school entrepreneurs would say it takes 10 years to be an overnight success. Well, it might have taken 10 years 20 or 30 years ago, but now there are kids who are under 10 who are millionaires on YouTube, and there are crypto billionaires in their 20s. So actually, right now, you can make money more quickly, especially if you leverage digital assets. So I'm just trying to stay out of the wind because it's really windy today, and I want you to have a good audio experience even if it's not a good visual experience. That's what entrepreneurship does to you. Here's to all my critics. So where was I? Yeah, make sure you build your digital assets. So your digital assets are your Instagram followers, your Facebook followers, the ad revenue on Instagram, the badges on Instagram, the collaborations you do on Instagram that grow your following that then attract the sponsorship revenue, your OnlyFans. Rob Moore OnlyFans coming soon. Chest, £5 a month. The lower you go, the more you pay. No, don't you worry. If I launch my OnlyFans, you know, business is fucked. Um, what else have we got as a digital asset? Facebook supporters, Facebook stars, we've got YouTube Premium, YouTube ads, podcast ads, uh, you name it. There's so many different monetization tools on social media. So are you building your personal brand? Are you putting regular content out there? Like, give me a yes in the comments if you're putting content out daily. Give me a no in the comments if you're not putting yourself out daily. You should be putting yourself out daily. Come on, you want to be a real entrepreneur, then you need to be putting yourself out there daily. Now it's not hard. I just went for a walk, cleared all my, um, WhatsApps that have been built up over the last few days, and I thought, oh, I've got 15 minutes before I get on the loop round home, I'll smash out a quick, uh, Instagram Live. Now if I have my Zoom H1 with me— it's windy so it probably wouldn't have worked, but normally it would— if I have my Zoom H1, I'm just going to sit here on this bench I wonder if I'll get visitors on this bench. So if I had my Zoom H1, then that'd be 2 pieces of content because I'd have the podcast episode as well. So, um, I'm going to give you some maths. Let's do some quick maths. You're going to love this, stay with me. Um, it's very realistic that you could charge £10 a month for a premium platform. So let's say you did fitness or health or wellness or you teach marketing or business or whatever, then it's very realistic. You could have your lowest level is £10 a month. You could set it up on Patreon, or you could set it up on Kajabi really easily. That— they're white label sites. You literally just put your content up there, and you only have to put the first months in, uh, and then you put your own header design up, and it looks like it's your own site and brand. So anyone watching this Instagram, I see you all. I see you, all your emojis. I see you. Any one of you could charge £10 a month for just one premium piece of content a week. So let's say you get 3 new subscribers a day. That's really easy if you went live once a day on Instagram and once a day on Facebook. You'd realistically get more than that, but let's say you only got 2 a day on Facebook and 2 a day on Instagram from your daily lives. That's 4 a day, that's 40 £40 a day. So 40 times 30, that's £1,200 a month, times 10, that's £12,000 a month, plus 2, 4, that's £14,400 a month recurring income from doing one piece of content a week on your subscription platform. So what you waiting for? Give me a yes in the comments if £14,400 recurring per month would be a nice little, um, addition into your bank account. Recurring, relentless residual income. That is possible by doing daily content. Now you're probably stuck in a queue waiting for fuel. Go live. As long as you're not breaking the law, turn the engine off, but you're stuck in a queue, go live. I'll go and watch my son play football, I'll go live. I'll go and do a walk, I'll wait in the middle of the walk and I'll go live. So I go live on Facebook every day. I'm now— you're now seeing me go live more on Instagram, maybe I'm not quite every day yet on Instagram, but I'm a lot more— I'm giving you guys a lot more love. Um, and then you can go live on TikTok as well. And live on Instagram, you could do 4 15-minute lives a day. That's 60 minutes a day out and about, what you're doing anyway. Um, if you're a personal trainer, you could do some lives in the gym as long as it's not too loud. So you could do it on location. So you can nick that time out of nowhere. Just 4 new members a day, you're at nearly $15,000 a month from a digital asset, which is a subscription platform. Netflix, Netflix, Netflix, Netflix. It's the Netflix model. Um, thank you, by the way, for all the kind comments and the emojis. I really appreciate you all. I love you all. Thanks for following my work. Thanks for supporting me. Thanks for watching my content. Thanks for sharing. Um, thanks for buying all my shit. And if you haven't bought all my shit, go and buy all my shit. Do you know I'm continually amazed? I do polls on Facebook. Have you read my money book? Have you read my opportunity book? Have you read Start Now, Get Perfect Later? And I do these polls, and often it's less than 50% of my followers have read any of my books. So help a brother out. This is how the brother makes a living. The brother's gotta finance his art here, you know. The brother's struggling here making his millions. Read my fucking books. Books. Um, my books? No, it's not because it's shit. Um, it's because many of you are new followers to me. You knew me from Clubhouse. You're lazy bastards. You're not invested in yourself. Um, do you know my book Money sold more copies in the UK than any other money-related book according to my publisher? So there you go. It's funny, I've got friends and family who've been having money problems and their friend and family member wrote the UK's top-selling book on money, and they haven't read it. And they haven't read it. Fuck you. Now, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. I want to make you drink. I want you to bathe in the water. I want you to get drunk on the content. So buy my books. Come on. But action leads to more action leads to more action. Where can I find the interview with a billionaire? I've interviewed 15 billionaires on my Disruptive Entrepreneur Podcast. Look at the sun, it's quite nice, isn't it? I'm going to get a tan on one side of my face. So the Disruptive Entrepreneur Podcast, we've done 700-odd episodes. In and between there, you'll find 15 billionaires. Billionaire interviews. I often do my live interviews on Facebook or YouTube, so make sure you're following me on Facebook and following me on YouTube. I go live every morning on Facebook. I'm doing some cool offers to have masterminds with me and get involved in shit with me on Facebook. Probably do more lives on Facebook than I do on Instagram, so make sure you get your ass over and follow me on Facebook as well. I know you Instagram You guys just love Instagram. You don't use Facebook enough. You should all be doing more Facebook Lives. For many people, Facebook Lives are better reach. Like, I will get tens of thousands of views on my Facebook Lives. I had a million view on one in the last couple of months, but less on Instagram. So get your ass on not just my Facebook, but you should be doing your own Facebook and do your regular content. Now, if you're smart, you do your content and you repurpose it. So if I downloaded this video, or if I had my Zoom H1 and I recorded it, then I've done the live and then I've got the video recording. And then that can go on— we can take cuts for TikTok, we can put it on YouTube, we can put it on Facebook, we can put it in my Facebook groups, we can put it on my podcast, we can put it on LinkedIn. So some people get really overwhelmed. Oh, the content! Rob's saying you gotta go live on every channel every day. No, I'm not. I'm saying go live on a channel, record it, repurpose it. Repurpose it. Go live on another channel, record it, repurpose it. I often go live on Clubhouse and then I'll do mini masterclasses and I'll do that on Instagram as many of you have seen or on Facebook. So get smart with your content, get smart with your time, repurpose your time, leverage your time. If you're spending the time anyway, create an asset out of the time. That's what a digital asset is. So you need to be building your digital real estate portfolio, your digital asset portfolio. So that is an NFT, a cryptocurrency, web domains, websites, web traffic, blogs and articles that have good SEO, doing content on lives and then repurposing it in the recorded version, having a podcast, having a YouTube channel, making sure that every channel you're updating once a day, I would say. And people get overwhelmed because they think they have to do it all individually. But when you're smart and leverage with your time You go, okay, what's the best platform for me to go live on? And for me, it's usually Facebook. And then as long as I have my podcast recorder, and when I've finished the piece of content, I download the piece of content to my phone, I've turned the live into a written, audio, video, and live. So W-A-V-L, written, audio, video, live. So when you go live, that's live. When you then download that live recording onto your phone That's now video. You can extract the audio or use your Zoom H1 clipped on here for your podcast or other audio platforms, and then you can easily get it transcribed, and then that transcription can become a blog, an article. It can go on all your social media channels. So you can get written, audio, video, and live just from a live. There you go. I'm not just a pretty face. This is all for you. Love you all, you fucking legends, and I've got a gift for you. So if you go to robmoore.com/mmm, as in make more money, robmoore.com/mmm, there you go, the link's in the comments. Can you see it?
