Gary Stevenson is WRONG About Billionaires & the Rich!

Rob Moore argues that UK billionaires like Lakshmi Mittal leave because they're overtaxed, not undertaxed, and that their departure costs jobs and investment. The top 1% generate 29% of tax revenue and the top 10% generate two-thirds, he says, so the rich already pay a disproportionate share.

The UK's richest billionaire is leaving the UK. There's all these lefty LinkedIn socialists celebrating this, which is an utter disgrace because they really don't understand how the world works. It is a major blow to UK investment, attracting money overseas and investing into our own country, it is a major blow every time we lose a billionaire. Now, do I think billionaires should pay their fair tax? Yes, they actually do in many ways, and I'll explain that in a moment. But if you haven't heard the breaking news, Lakshmi Mittal, you know, who was a revolutionary in the steel industry in the UK, and obviously steel created our rail And, you know, it was one of the great networking effects. And think of how many hundreds of thousands of jobs he created. Now I did some research. And his company does about $50 billion a year in revenue. So over 30 years, even assuming he started small, he's probably generated a trillion-plus. A trillion in revenue. And that's VAT— well, actually, no, that's just revenue. That's not including VAT, so you can add 200 billion onto that if that's how his business model works. You've got 25% corporation tax, you've got business rates— that'll be billions. And I'm going to put my flag in the ground and say there's probably more than a trillion that Lakshmi Mittal has contributed to the UK economy, and it's all leaving. Now, here's the thing that people don't understand. People say, "Oh yeah, billionaires leave because they're paying no tax." No, billionaires leave because they're paying too much tax, or they can find another country that offers them a better value proposition. People don't understand this. So no billionaire would leave the UK if they felt fairly treated. Now I know 27 billionaires well. I've either been mentored by them or they've been on my show. Many of them are still in my contacts book. And they don't want to leave the UK. And they're quite happy to pay their fair share in tax. And all these lefties, socialisty, LinkedIn-y Gary Stevenson fans. They don't know any of these billionaires. They've never met any of these billionaires. They have actually no clue how it really works. But believe you me, it is one of the worst things for economic growth in this country every time a billionaire leaves or a multimillionaire leaves. And as soon as you get the richest man in the UK leaving, what are all the other billionaires gonna do? They're going to leave. And this is like— this should be an outrage. There should be a campaign to keep these guys here. But obviously Labour are ostracizing them, creating propaganda that it's their fault. Because if Labour could blame the billionaires— I wonder if someone's behind Gary Stevenson, by the way. Kind of thought about this. He's blown up out of nowhere. Look, I don't want to hypothesize, but I've got some theories. But, you know, far easier for Labour to essentially have the billionaires blamed rather than actually, you know, Labour's or the government's responsibility, the Conservatives before them. You know, people say, yeah, but Rob, trickle-down economics doesn't work. Well, here's the thing. 29% of all the tax revenue is generated by the top 1%. So the top 1% generate a third. The top 10% generate two-thirds. So actually two-thirds of the economy comes from the richest 10%, i.e., the tax revenue. Not the economy, the tax revenue. Okay, so then most of the money comes from the rich. So you know when people say tax the rich more? They're already taxed more. Where does all this money go? It goes to the government. And then it's wasted. It's put in the bucket with a hole in it of the NHS, the bucket with a hole in it of the police force, etc. So tell me where the real problem is. Now most people don't understand how the economy works, and I know it's complicated, and economics doesn't really teach you it, you know. And I want to sort of help people understand how the economy works from a personal finance point of view as well as a wider macro point of view. On GB News they're calling me the People's Chancellor, because I guess they believe that I have a lot of understanding of how your personal finances relate to the economy, and what actually generates growth. Now what generates growth is investment. And there's public spending into non-investment and public spending into investment. And we need investment. We need overseas investment. We need all the billionaires to come back not leave. We need to generate more economic flow, or they call it GDP. And what we need to do is we need to bring it from the bottom up and not pull it from the top down. Because if you get some rich people generating most of the economy— now most people say, yeah, Rob, you know, most of the wealth is held with the few. Now that's just because they've become the best and then they get an unfair advantage, but they earn that unfair advantage. They don't just get given it, they earn it. Okay, so what we need to do is not pull the top few down. We need to lift the bottom masses up. This is why I'm really upset with Gary Stevenson's message, because his message is, you know, if you're broke, you've got no chance, you might as well just die. Like, that's what he said. He said he is sick of millionaires saying all you have to do is, you know, take personal responsibility and be an entrepreneur. He's sick. Of that. But actually, personal responsibility and improving your life and personal agency are vital messages that these lefties and these socialists, that they're suffocating, and they have a massive voice. And we need to push back against that. So the way we lift the bottom up is we reduce the welfare budget on people who are gaming the system, tighten the system, and anyone who's trying to game the system, we number one give them apprenticeships and support, But number 2, we make it more worth their while to work. As you know, I walk the streets of Peterborough, I interview people, and they get given a house, they can beg for £100, £200 a day, and if they go back to work, they lose all their benefits and they make less working. So we need to fix the system first. If you've got a bucket which you need to fill up with water and it's got a massive hole in it, turning the tap on more just wastes water and doesn't solve the problem. You know, if a business is losing money and it generates more revenue, tax revenue, it loses even more money. So we mustn't have all these billionaires leave. We must be a good value proposition. We must attract billionaires employers, and we must work with them and generate maximum revenue from them and not make them evil. And by the way, it's the government's responsibility to set up all the laws and regulations. And we must lift the bottom up because there's tens of millions at the bottom And there's a few hundred at the top. And this is why I run the Moneymaker Summit. The Moneymaker Summit isn't for billionaires. It's for nearly-there's. Zero heirs to millionaires. So if you'd like to learn how to make, manage, and multiply money, if you regard yourself as an ordinary person, you're not already a millionaire, you haven't inherited a billion, but you'd like to make your life better, you'd like to earn more in your salary, you'd like to have a great career, you'd like to start a business, you'd like to build multiple streams of income, I recommend you come to the Moneymaker Summit. Now I do my bit and so I take some of my foundation money, I sponsor some people, basically cover your costs. But I can only do a few of those tickets per event. And then just for a small upgrade, you've got the brilliant golden VIP tickets with, you know, you can get your book signed by me, you can come and have dinner with me, you can have dinner with my 6 other 8 and 9-figure entrepreneurs who speak at the event. You can have bonus Q&A sessions with champagne reception in the evenings, just with the, you know, 8-figure entrepreneurs. You can have money mindset sessions in the morning with 2 8-figure entrepreneurs. And this is all either I'll sponsor you, or if those tickets are gone, just a tiny upgrade. Those tickets are the best tickets anyway. So the link is robmoore.live/money. That's robmoore.live/money. So if you just type that in now to any web page, you're going to need to go and do that now because I don't think the link clicks that I've just shared there. Go do that now, at least register or grab your one of your golden tickets, and then come back here. Rob Moore.live money. GB News are calling me the People's Chancellor, um, which I, um, you know, I really value, um, that because, you know, I have got 3 million, 3.5 million followers now on social media. I do have a foundation I've had for approaching 10 years now, and I probably have helped hundreds of thousands, if not maybe more, starting scale-up entrepreneurs, or people who want a better career, or people who want to build personal wealth or take personal responsibility and agency. Now look, I know life is hard, and I think what some socialists think is that these right-wing entrepreneurs don't understand that people's lives are hard, don't understand what it's like to be poor. But I do, because I was broke, I was £50,000 in debt, I never got given anything, I'm not going to get any inheritance. So I had to overcome my own demons. Now people have had it worse than me, I acknowledge that, but a lot of people have had it better than me. And I became a victim and I wallowed and bathed in my own self-pity and it felt addictive, but ultimately it just creates shame. The only way you change is to change yourself. Probably one of the most famous quotes in the world, be the change you want to see. So now I'm doing a lot to give back. Yes, I do run businesses. Yes, I still want to make more money, but I also have a foundation. I also give a lot of my time back. So if you'd like to learn how to make, manage, and multiply money, build multiple streams of recurring income, get your tax bill down as well as your income streams up, learn the 5 best ways to make quicker cash flow this year, then just go to robmoore.life/ Money. Now the government are a great example of there's no point generating more money if you're wasting what you spend. So right now in the UK we don't have a tax revenue problem. Well, we do, we're taxing too much. But the government don't have a tax revenue problem. They tell you they do, everyone tells you they do, they don't. They generate enough tax. They're just spending too much. And this bureaucracy and wastage and too many civil servants and the government has become bloated and bloated and bloated and obese. And that needs to change. And what's the point in making all the money or paying all the tax if it's all getting wasted? And that's why in the Moneymaker Summit I've now got this special new tax savings section. I've got a special new investing in gold and silver section because there's making your money And then there's keeping it. And what's the point in making it and working 3 to 4 days out of 5 for the government and hardly keeping any of it? There are tax breaks that the government give you and want you to have because they need entrepreneurs. Small business generates 55% of the economy. They need us. Now, they might not like us, but they need us. So I'm going to teach you how to keep a lot of your money. If right now you get a payslip and it says at the top what you could have earned and at the bottom what you actually earned, and if that upsets you, then definitely joining the Moneymaker Summit is going to help you get that tax bill down, get the income streams up, multiple income streams, recurring income streams, semi-passive income streams, revolutionary business models, leveraging AI and automation to make the most money in the shortest amount of time that's realistic and not a scam. And so the link is robmoore.life/money. So I look forward to seeing you there. And please let me know what you think in the comments. What do you think of all these billionaires leaving? 20,000 millionaires leaving this year, predicted half a million millionaires to leave. UBS have predicted that by what, 2028 or something? I mean, that's nearly all of them gone. What do you think about that? Let me know in the comments and I'd love to meet you personally. I'm at the Moneymaker Summit Live.
