Gas Prices Soar as Russia Cuts Supply ⛔️

In this YouTube monologue, Rob Moore explains how Russia’s reduction of natural gas exports—portrayed as "gas blackmail" amid the Russia‑Ukraine war—has triggered soaring global gas prices, heightened inflation, and a broader cost‑of‑living crisis. He links sanctions, supply chain disruptions, and rising commodity costs, emphasizing that even countries with modest direct Russian gas imports, like the UK, feel the price shock. Moore then offers a five‑step personal finance playbook: (1) curb non‑essential spending, (2) keep only a minimal emergency cash reserve, (3) move cash into inflation‑protecting, income‑producing assets using pound‑cost averaging, (4) invest in real estate or personal‑brand assets, and (5) launch an online business or digital content venture to generate recurring, low‑overhead income. Throughout, he frames these actions as safeguards against ongoing and future inflation, taxation, and potential recession. The video concludes with a promotional pitch for his paid platform, Rob.team, which promises masterclasses, resources, and community support to help viewers implement the advised strategies and achieve financial independence.

So gas prices are continuing to soar as Russia continues to cut its supply. Now, I've been saying for a long time that this cost of living crisis of fuel and energy and food from COVID and lockdowns and now this war, it could play out for years. Could have huge implications of supply and of cost increases for many years to come. So I want to just tell you what's going on and then maybe give you a fair warning, but with a positive solution. So of course, this war between Russia and Ukraine continues, and Ukraine are accusing Russia of gas blackmail. Russia say that, well, they're just closing lines for maintenance, when in reality, um, they didn't close lines for maintenance forever, and now all of a sudden lines are closed for weeks on end, or supply is one-fifth of what it was. So I think we all know what's really going on here. I mean, do you really think they're closing for maintenance, and— or do you think that they're using gas as a way to blackmail now? Or that's what it's called, gas blackmail. That's what, um, Zelensky calls it. Now, if you think about it, it makes the sanctions that we imposed upon Russia— that was never going to happen without a consequence. And I feared that there would be some big knock-on consequences from the sanctions we imposed to Russia. I said at the time that I thought, well, sanctions are better than guns and tanks and planes and wars. But, you know, we were happy to bring in the Russian billions into the UK and turn a blind eye on where that money came from until it didn't suit us anymore. When we sent them all packing and we doled out all these sanctions. And now this soaring cost of living crisis of fuel and energy and food and, you know, the dramatic rise in inflation and general cost of living is greatly in part due to this war that's going on and this shortage of supply. So Germany are feeling the hit probably the most because they have the direct connect-in with Nord Stream 1. And even though UK only takes 5% of its gas supply from Russia, the price effects on the rise— you know, the rising prices across the global markets because of this crazy lack of supply— is going to be felt across Europe, if not the world. So this is serious. And what can we learn from this? Well, I've always said it would be better to make peace, not war, but clearly that's not possible. Maybe people need to start thinking about what wins can be given to Putin, because you know when you negotiate, you think about, well, what do I want? And then The other party thinks about what do they want. And if you're smart, you get on the negotiation table and you go, okay, this is what I want, this is what you want, okay, so how can we each get as much out of, or the minimum that each party wants? This is how we sign treaties and this is how we negotiate. And that clearly doesn't seem to be happening here with Putin or Russia, and I don't know why. And surely some smart people can get around a table, but Until things get a lot worse, that's probably not going to happen. So what can you do about it? Well, I think honestly you've got to be realistic that inflation and energy and food and gas and fuel and commodities, and they're just going to keep going up before they go down. And there's going to be a huge continued reduction in supply of many of the items that we've taken for granted. So you're either not going to be able to get what you need, or it's going to be a lot more expensive. And I think it is wise to wise up to that fact, to understand that fact, and to plan accordingly. So how can you plan accordingly? Well, number one is you need to reduce or control your spending in these non-essential items that are going up dramatically in value. Of course, you have to have food and you have to have fuel, and I'm not saying don't put petrol in your car and go and walk 12 miles to work and stop buying all food and coffee out and just, you know, live on pot noodles and ramen. A lot of people are talking about cost savings. I'm not talking about that. But any non-essential items that you don't need, you don't necessarily need to buy um, or at least don't buy ones where they've gone up a lot in price. That's the first thing you can do. The second thing you can do is make sure that you keep minimum amount of cash in the bank or anything that could be affected by inflation. So of course cash is being hit hard by inflation, its value is going down 10-15% plus per year. So if you make sure you've got minimal cash, just maybe in a bit of an emergency fund, and that's it because it's getting wiped out by this soaring cost of living crisis. Do you know that your relative spending power is the lowest it's been since the Second World War? The third thing you can do is to get your cash out of the bank and protect it from inflation by putting it into assets. So if you're going to invest in assets that produce income, whether it's real estate or your personal brand or the stock market, make sure you pound cost average. Which means putting in money in stages to negate any potential hard downfall where you might mistime it. But if you can get your money out of cash and into assets, those assets protect the cash from inflation, and those assets hopefully produce income. And then you've got inflation protection, capital growth, and an income stream. So that's the next thing you can do. The fourth or fifth thing you can do is to start an online business, because online businesses aren't going to get affected by supply and demand issues or soaring cost of fuel and energy, because you don't need raw material, you don't need overhead, you don't need staff, you don't need premises and all of that. So if you have an online business, whether it's, um, doing a course and turning information into income or a membership site or being on social media and monetizing your content as a creator. If you do these things, then you're protected from inflation. You're not affected by supply and demand or lack of supply chain or production, um, and you can start to produce recurring income and passive income and high-speed, low-cost income, low fixed overhead cost income. And I believe if you do those 5 things— so, uh, don't spend on depreciating liabilities that are getting caught up by this soaring cost of living, protect your cash from inflation by getting it out of the bank, then invest into assets that produce recurring income, and start an online-related business and build online income streams— then you're mostly going to be protected from inflation. You might beat inflation, so you might just not net at zero, but you might actually increase your money. And you'll have recurring and residual income instead of lumps of cash that are going down and down and down in value. These are the ways you can hedge against continual soaring costs of living. Now, this news article, gas prices soar as Russia cuts Germany supply— you're going to see stuff like this in the news every day or every week for goodness knows how long. And until this war is over between Ukraine and Russia, and long after this war is finished, there's going to be fighting over gas and energy supplies and, you know, turf and territory wars. And all these sanctions that happen, there's going to be ramifications and retaliations. There's going to be a knock-on increase in inflation, a knock-on increase in taxation. All of this shit is real. I really do believe this to be the case, you know, because we're probably one stage off a revolution, a financial revolution, you know, a power shift revolution. So you got to gain your own financial independence by protecting your cash from inflation, spending it wisely, investing it even more wisely, getting assets that produce income, starting online businesses and producing multiple streams of income from low to no overhead and not relying on staffing and supply chains and physical stock.
