How to be Rich AND Happy (Yes, Really! 😮)

In this 2021 YouTube/Facebook Live presentation Rob Moore argues that wealth and happiness are independent variables and that the common narrative blaming the rich for unhappiness is largely driven by low‑earning, dissatisfied people. He frames happiness as a present state rather than a destination and claims that evolution requires growth through challenges. Moore then delivers twelve concrete tactics for becoming both rich and happy: (1) help others make money by offering valuable products or services; (2) spend money on experiences and high‑quality items that genuinely bring joy; (3) learn while you earn, using business as a daily classroom; (4) use earned wealth to teach and create educational platforms; (5) balance selfish ambition with selfless contribution; (6) block out critics, haters, and energy‑drainers; (7) aim to become extremely wealthy and plan to give it away as a legacy; (8) cultivate friendships through business relationships; (9) focus on a specific niche/tribe you want to serve; (10) allocate earnings to self‑care, generosity, and reinvestment; (11) travel while earning by leveraging digital content creation; and (12) treat making money as a game you enjoy, shedding negative money beliefs. Throughout he intersperses personal anecdotes (e.g., attending an Alexander McQueen fashion show) and repeatedly urges viewers to share his message and visit robmoore.com/mmm for free resources, including billionaire habit guides, budgeting articles, and upcoming books. The overall purpose is motivational: to debunk myths, shift mindsets, and provide actionable steps for financial and personal fulfillment.

How to be rich and happy. Sorry for all those haters out there that think that you can't be happy and rich. Sorry that people who think the rich bastards are all grumpy and unhappy and greedy and miserable. I'm here to bust those myths. It doesn't have to be that way. Revelation number 1: do you know you can be rich and happy or rich and unhappy or poor and happy, or poor and unhappy. I.e., being happy and rich are separate concepts completely, and all options are open. Now, I reckon that most people who hate on and criticize the rich and talk about how unhappy the rich are are broke poor people. Unhappy, broke, poor people. And I mean first world poor, not third world poor, of course, because developing world doesn't have the same opportunities. But the prevailing narrative on social media that many people are consuming, uh, is from generally low earning, and generally it seems to be fairly unhappy, miserable people bitching and moaning and criticizing and trolling and hating on social media as a way to cover up their own pains, flaws, and failings. But I've actually got 12 different things I think that you can put in your life that are practical and tactical that will mean you can be rich and happy, because I believe you deserve to be both. Now, I think there's a lot of myths around what happiness actually is, and I'll probably save that for another episode. I'll touch upon it now. I don't think the purpose of life is happiness. And I hear people raising kids saying, I just want them to be happy. I don't think that that is the purpose of life. And I think that many of us want to be happy, but actually, if we were happy, we would be bored. There would be no growth. Evolution and humanity and society actually doesn't need us to be happy all the time. Needs us to work, needs us to solve hard problems, needs us to do difficult shit. So there's a lot of prevailing narrative out there. Oh, it's all about happiness. It's not about winning. It's about taking part. Oh, it's just about a comfortable, easy life. And oh, you know, it's not about material items or greed or whatever. But actually, evolution is growth, and growth is overcoming problems. You know, we only grow when we face difficulty and adversity and transcend it and learn something. And then when we learn something and go to the new level, we're presented with the new devil. New level, new devil. What's your reward for solving a problem? A bigger freaking problem. So happiness is not a destination, it's a present state of being. And that's important. So people think, when I've made X money, I'll be happy, or when I let go of materialism, or when I just accept my life as it is, or when I stop chasing, or when I've hit a certain goal, then I'll be happy. That is already the paradox of unhappiness. Happiness is not a destination, it's a present sense of being, which is why you can be rich and happy, rich and unhappy, poor and happy, poor and unhappy. So if we separate wealth from happiness, stop judging the rich from mostly the poor, first world poor, broke, and start actually looking at the facts and the things that are realistic to you. I think more people can be more wealthy and more happy. So number 1 tactic on how to be rich and happy is to help other people make money or be successful or offer a valuable and meaningful product or service that's useful to them. Because when you do that, you get rewarded with fair exchange fees, and you get rewarded with good happiness feelings because it feels good to help people. Now, some people are being too greedy and overcharging or just commercial— not as many as you think— but more people are undercharging and trying to help people for free, or scared of charging. I just want to do good and help people. But they're not commercializing it. And when you give people shit for free, they don't value it. Free advice is worth every penny, and when people pay, they pay attention. So the greatest gift you can give to others and yourself is to make other people happy by you making money. Create a meaningful product or service that helps vast numbers of people, that's useful and valuable to society, and then create a fair exchange fee for that, and then scale it to the masses. So number 1, help more people make money, and you will be happy and you will make money. Number 2 then is do things with money that makes you happy. People say, oh well, money doesn't buy happiness. Fucking does, it does. Just people say, oh well, 'Rob, money doesn't buy happiness, it's experiences. I want experiences.' So you want to travel the world. A friend of mine, he's traveled all 200-something United Nations. Michael, he's traveled all United Nations. That took him years and millions of pounds. Would you agree that visiting every country in the— on the globe and knowing and meeting every single culture and seeing every different part of the world would be a great experience. Would you agree with that? And that would cost millions of pounds in travel and accommodation and everything else. So actually, you need money to fuel the experiences. And if you want to have more experiences, which people say make happiness— ah, it's all about experiences, not material things— well, I'd actually argue that listening to an amazing song on a £250,000 hi-fi is an amazing experience. And I know that because I have a £250,000 hi-fi, and that can make me go to another planet. I went to the Alexander McQueen fashion show and got this amazing, amazing sense of elation at the experience there. Saw probably within this far of me Naomi Campbell, and that was a surprise. Massive Attack were playing the after-party, and that's— I spent a lot of freaking money to get into that, um, fashion show, by the way. So drive a great product or service that's valuable. To as many people as possible. Get happiness in serving them. Know that you're making their life better or even helping them make money. And then the money that you make, use that to have amazing life experiences, knowing that you can fund that. That's the, the second point. The third point is learn while you earn. I'm a massive fan of this. Um, some people say you either learn or you earn, which means If you win, you make money, and if you lose, you get a good lesson. But learning while earning is one of the greatest gifts. So the good thing about, or what I feel is great about what I do, so my personal vision is to help as many people on this planet start and scale their business and get better financial knowledge. And I feel so grateful and honored to be able to help hundreds of thousands and now millions of people across the world start their business, scale their business, make more money, make more of a difference, get better financial knowledge and education, have a better relationship with money. And every time I create new content, of course I've got to do research, or I've got to go back through my past experiences, or I engage with my communities. If any of you follow me on Facebook, I do my ranty shit on Facebook. I do my rants and I have my viral videos on Facebook and have loads of critics and loads of trolls and loads of criticism. And I read a lot of them, and you know, a lot of them are just sort of fairly vacuous. But I learn stuff and I like to be challenged and I like to have my own ideals and beliefs challenged. So I'm learning while I'm earning, and that is a great gift. So maybe you could do, um, training on personal development and investing yourself into programs and courses in your chosen niche or subject, and you can learn, um, how to grow your business and yourself. Or you could invest in sales and marketing to improve your sales and marketing, and you learn while you earn. The great thing about running your own business is you learn every day. There's failings and mistakes and breakages and bottlenecks and challenges and blindsides. It happens all day, every day as an entrepreneur. So I learn every day, and I earn every day, and I fail every day, and I unlearn every day, and I make a bit every day too. Or a few million. Not a few million every single day, but, you know, don't do too bad. Okay, number 4 then, ways to be rich and happy, is to use the money you make to teach other people. So what legacy would you like to leave? What value would you like to, to, to give this planet when it's the end of your life? Well, I don't think you need to wait till the end of your life. I think you can do that now. And what would you do with £10 million or £100 million? What would you teach people? What kind of school or library or entrepreneurial platform or education platform, or what would you teach in schools that they don't teach that you think would be really valuable to others? Well, use your money to do that, and then you earn, and you've got motivation to earn. Because I challenge people who don't really have a lot of money and don't really find money that important or valuable and aren't really driven towards making money and have convinced themselves that it's not about the money and sold and let go of some of those dreams. I challenge you to have big financial goals and targets, to hit half a million, a million, 10 million, to go and set up your school or your academy or your program to do good with it. Because you cannot build your own school without money. You can't build your own academy without money. You can't help millions of people without money. Okay, number 5, and this is a really important one, and people don't get this. You need to be equally selfish and selfless. So I think maximum evolution of humanity— I'm going to put an argument out here. I've done some research, but I could still do more. But I am going to throw it out there that maximum evolution in society is on the fine balance and the paradox of selfish and selfless. And why do I say that? If you're too selfish, you put yourself first and you put others last, and that's probably not good for humanity's survival. But if you put everyone else first and you last, that's not good for your own survival, which isn't good for humanity's survival. So I believe evolution relies on selfish and selfless balance. We need to help others to maximize humanity, but we need to survive ourselves. We can't be a lemming and just jump off a cliff to save someone else, because then we all jump off a cliff and there's none of us left. But if we're all too selfish as well and it's all about our own needs, we don't grow collectively. And it's the same with money. If you're overly selfish with money, greedy, greedy, greedy, hoard, hoard, hoard, you won't be given any more. People will soon find you out. But if you're overly selfless and I don't want to make any money, want everyone else to have it, I'll just give it all away really quickly, then you can't build or grow wealth. So sometimes it's good to have selfish targets and motives and go towards trying to be a millionaire and a deca-millionaire and a hundred-millionaire and being commercial and having a profit and loss and a balance sheet and and, you know, building an enterprise and being focused on profit. But also, what are you going to do with that profit? And you're going to use that profit wisely? And are you going to employ people and treat people well and do meaningful work? So balance selfish and selfless— that's maximum growth. It's the same in a relationship, it's the same in a partnership. If you're too selfless in a partnership and you put them first and you negate yourself, you become a doormat. If you're too selfish, you become a narcissist. You don't want to be a doormat or a narcissist. You want to be balanced. So selfish and selfless. And too many people when it comes to money are too extreme. They've told themselves a story about why being selfish or selfless is better, but you should be both. Okay, number 6 then on how to be rich and happy is you've got to block out all the grumpy bastards, the whingers, the moaners, the haters, the complainers. The critics, the drainers, the niggers, the ones that suck all your energy out and hate the rich and hate the happy. You know, I've had a couple of people around me recently. I don't really share my happiness out there. You know, I tell you a few things that I do if you followed me for a while, but you don't really get that much of my private life. I'm always in— I'm ranting about something or I'm trying to educate you on something. I'm sharing some of my experiences. But you don't really want to know what's going on in my personal life. And one of the things I did yesterday, which I really fucking enjoyed, it was fucking unbelievably awesome. I got invited to the Alexander McQueen fashion show. Alexander McQueen is my favorite fashion brand by a mile. All these harness tops that you see me wear all the time, it's all Alexander McQueen. I spent loads of money with them. And I went and it was just fucking unbelievable. Everything about it was unbelievable. Naomi Campbell was there. I met Sarah Burton, who's got an OBE. She's basically the head designer at Alexander McQueen. Massive Attack were playing there. It was just fucking epic. And a couple of people I let know about how much I enjoyed it, and I thought, I'm not fucking telling you again, fuck off. And it's like, I'm not really one for doing that anyway, but if I was surrounded by people who, um, were positive and enthusiastic and had good energy and beliefs around money and life, then it's just going to be that little bit sweeter. So by the way, it won't stop me, um, sharing some of those things, but yeah, I, I just bugger off. And you got to cut those kind of people out of your life. Number 7: If you want to be rich and happy, get really rich in your life. Fucking rich. Fuck you rich. Do whatever you want rich. And then plan to give it all away when you die. And leave a billion pounds to society and libraries and schools and charities and meaningful organisations. Surely that's the best way to live. Not live in frugality and poverty and non-materialism and minimalism because someone sold you that that's better. I'd say that's fucking selling out. Live in opulence, live in wealth, have amazing experiences, make fucking loads of money, like tens and hundreds of millions, and then give it all away and leave a massive legacy. I was here, I lived a fucking great life, and then I died, and now everyone's living off me. Surely that's a pretty fucking good way to live. All right, next then is develop friendships in business. So a lot of people say, oh, you shouldn't mix business and pleasure. Don't agree. Don't agree. I think you can build amazing friendships while doing business. Start with the partnership first and develop it into a friendship. Maybe that's a good way to do it. Most of my friends are in business. The UK Mod Squad in Clubhouse, if you've ever seen us, yeah, we, um, we're good friends now. And so you can mix business and pleasure. I mixed business and pleasure with the Alexander McQueen fashion shoot that I did. So develop friendships while doing business deals and making money. That's number 8 way to be rich and happy. Oh, you can actually be both! Number 9 then is target people you want to help and a niche or an area that you want to change. So for me, I want to help as many people on this planet start and scale their vision. Sorry, that's my vision. I want to help as many people on this planet start and scale their business and get better financial knowledge. So that's my niche, that's my crowd, that's my tribe. And that's who I want to help. And I want to make vast sums of money helping them do that, and I want them to make vast sums of money. So you could say it's finding a niche, you could say it's creating a meaningful vision. That certainly helps you be rich and happy. Someone asked me earlier in an Ask Me Anything Live, hey Rob, you know, I don't like putting myself out there. I'm a bit worried about the critics and the haters, and you know, I'm not sure I really like love myself. And, you know, does having more of a purpose and a vision help you love yourself more? The answer is absolutely yes. Because if you're valuable and useful, then you have high self-worth. And if you have high self-worth, you love yourself. The opposite of being valuable and useful is being useless. And when you're useless, you have low self-worth and you don't love yourself. So having a strong purpose and mission and vision, like mine is to help as many people on this planet start and scale their business and get better financial knowledge, that will increase your self-worth, increase your self-love, then people will be attracted to you and the money will be attracted to you because what you appreciate appreciates and you get more of what you put out, the frequency that you put out. So it becomes very self-fulfilling. Okay, next then, what are we on? Number 10. I hope you're enjoying this so far. Thanks for tuning in, you legends. So number 10 is make money, spend some on yourself and give some away. Make more money, spend some on yourself and give some away. Make more money and spend some on yourself and give some away. Make more money and spend some on yourself and give some away. So I bought my head of brand a pair of Alexander McQueen trainers yesterday, and he was absolutely blown away. He couldn't have thanked me any more times. He thanked me loads of times. He said no one has ever in his life bought anything for him as expensive as that. And to me, it's a pair of Alexander McQueen trainers. I'm kind of, you know, that's not a massive amount of money to me, but man, that made me feel good for the rest of the day. And actually, it's just made me feel good now. So I make a bit of money, I buy myself some McQueen, I'll buy my head of Branson McQueen. I like buying people shit. Most people who know me, they will say I am one of the most generous people that they've met. People don't know that about me because obviously on social media I don't brag about it, and I'd sit here all day going, oh, I bought this person this today and this today and this today and this today and this today. I did buy Ed Smith's, uh, Louboutin shoes, I think more than one pair. Um, so, but it feels really good to give, um, money away and to buy gifts and do nice things for people, and that costs money. So spend a bit on yourself, spend a bit on others. That's how to be rich and happy. Number 11 is travel the world while you're making money. So you can run a Wisdom Room or a Clubhouse room or a Facebook Live or an Instagram Live or record your podcast. You can take a Zoom H1 or Olympus recorder and travel the world and create your content. Travel the world making money. Surely that is a great way to live. Now, 50 years ago, if you traveled the world, you'd have to do it on time off or holiday, or you'd lose your pay. And now you can make a living traveling. You can blog it and do videos on it and podcast on it and go and have podcast guests and have sponsors and collaborators and brand endorsements. And you can do all this, travel the world making a living. What a great way to live. And then finally, number 12. I've given you 12 ways to be rich and happy. There's no more excuses. Don't give me no more shit. Get out there and go and be rich and happy. C, making money as a game you enjoy. So if you play Monopoly, you don't hate on Monopoly, you don't hate on the other players. Well, actually, I did have some arguments with my friends playing Monopoly, but Monopoly is just a game and you play it and you try and win and it's all good. So money is the same and life is the same. Money is a game. You try and make some money, you try and win a bit, it's all good. You win some, you lose some, you get some rent or you have some bills. That's life. So see making money as a game, enjoy the freaking game, Get rid of all your negative beliefs and projections and judgments and fears around money, and you'll make a lot more of it.
